1 H ezekiah sent to all Israel Judah and wrote letters also to Ephraim and Manasseh to come to the Lord’s house at Jerusalem to keep the Passover to the Lord, the God of Israel.

Después Ezequías envió mensajeros por todo Israel y Judá, y también escribió cartas a Efraín y a Manasés, para invitarlos a la casa de Jehová, en Jerusalén, a fin de celebrar la Pascua a Jehová, Dios de Israel.

2 F or the king and his princes and all the assembly in Jerusalem took counsel to keep the Passover in the second month.

Pues el rey había consultado con sus príncipes y con toda la congregación en Jerusalén, para celebrar la Pascua en el mes segundo;

3 F or they could not keep it at the set time because not enough priests had sanctified themselves, neither had the people assembled in Jerusalem.

porque entonces no la podían celebrar, por cuanto no había suficientes sacerdotes santificados, ni el pueblo se había reunido en Jerusalén.

4 T he new time pleased the king and all the assembly.

Esto agradó al rey y a toda la multitud.

5 S o they decreed to make a proclamation throughout all Israel, from Beersheba to Dan, that the people should come to keep the Passover to the Lord, the God of Israel, at Jerusalem. For they had not kept it collectively as prescribed for a long time.

Y determinaron hacer pasar pregón por todo Israel, desde Beerseba hasta Dan, para que vinieran a celebrar en Jerusalén la Pascua a Jehová, Dios de Israel; porque en mucho tiempo no la habían celebrado al modo que está prescrito.

6 S o the posts went with the letters from the king and his princes throughout all Israel and Judah, as the king commanded, saying, O Israelites, return to the Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, that He may return to those left of you who escaped out of the hands of the kings of Assyria.

Salieron, pues, mensajeros con cartas de parte del rey y de sus príncipes por todo Israel y Judá, como el rey lo había mandado, que decían: «Hijos de Israel, volveos a Jehová, el Dios de Abraham, de Isaac y de Israel, y él se volverá al resto que ha quedado de manos de los reyes de Asiria.

7 D o not be like your fathers and brethren, who were unfaithful to the Lord, the God of their fathers, so that He gave them up to desolation, as you see.

No seáis como vuestros padres y como vuestros hermanos, que se rebelaron contra Jehová, el Dios de sus padres, y él los entregó a desolación, como vosotros veis.

8 N ow be not stiff-necked, as your fathers were, but yield yourselves to the Lord and come to His sanctuary, which He has sanctified forever, and serve the Lord your God, that His fierce anger may turn away from you.

Ahora, pues, no seáis tercos como vuestros padres; someteos a Jehová y venid a su santuario, el cual él ha santificado para siempre; y servid a Jehová, vuestro Dios, y el ardor de su ira se apartará de vosotros.

9 F or if you return to the Lord, your brethren and your children shall find compassion with their captors and return to this land. For the Lord your God is gracious and merciful, and He will not turn away His face from you if you return to Him.

Porque si os volvéis a Jehová, vuestros hermanos y vuestros hijos hallarán misericordia delante de los que los tienen cautivos, y volverán a esta tierra; porque Jehová, vuestro Dios, es clemente y misericordioso, y no apartará de vosotros su rostro, si vosotros os volvéis a él.»

10 S o the posts passed from city to city through the country of Ephraim and Manasseh, even to Zebulun, but the people laughed them to scorn and mocked them.

Pasaron, pues, los mensajeros de ciudad en ciudad por la tierra de Efraín y Manasés, hasta Zabulón; pero se reían y burlaban de ellos.

11 Y et, a few of Asher, Manasseh, and Zebulun humbled themselves and came to Jerusalem.

Con todo, algunos hombres de Aser, de Manasés y de Zabulón se humillaron, y vinieron a Jerusalén.

12 A lso the hand of God came upon Judah to give them one heart to do the commandment of the king and of the princes, by the word of the Lord.

En Judá también estuvo la mano de Dios que les dio un solo corazón para cumplir el mensaje del rey y de los príncipes, conforme a la palabra de Jehová.

13 A nd many people came to Jerusalem to keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread in the second month, a very great assembly.

Se reunió en Jerusalén mucha gente para celebrar la fiesta solemne de los Panes sin levadura en el mes segundo; fue una gran reunión.

14 T hey rose up and took away the altars that were in Jerusalem, and all the altars and utensils for incense they took away and threw into the Kidron Valley.

Y levantándose, quitaron los altares que había en Jerusalén; quitaron también todos los altares de incienso, y los echaron al torrente Cedrón.

15 T hen they killed the Passover lamb on the fourteenth day of the second month. And the priests and the Levites were ashamed and sanctified themselves and brought burnt offerings to the Lord’s house.

Entonces sacrificaron la Pascua, a los catorce días del mes segundo; y los sacerdotes y los levitas, llenos de vergüenza, se santificaron y trajeron los holocaustos a la casa de Jehová.

16 T hey stood in their accustomed places, as directed in the Law of Moses the man of God. The priests threw the blood they received from the hand of the Levites.

Y tomaron su lugar en los turnos de costumbre, conforme a la ley de Moisés, varón de Dios; y los sacerdotes esparcían la sangre que recibían de manos de los levitas.

17 F or many were in the assembly who had not sanctified themselves. So the Levites had to kill the Passover lambs for all who were not clean, in order to make them holy to the Lord.

Porque había muchos en la congregación que no estaban santificados, y por eso los levitas sacrificaban la Pascua por todos los que no se habían purificado, a fin de santificarlos para Jehová.

18 F or a multitude of the people, many from Ephraim, Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves, yet they ate the Passover otherwise than Moses directed. For Hezekiah had prayed for them, saying, May the good Lord pardon everyone

Porque una gran multitud del pueblo de Efraín y Manasés, y de Isacar y Zabulón, no actuaron conforme a lo que está escrito, pues comieron la Pascua sin haberse purificado. Pero Ezequías oró por ellos diciendo: «Jehová, que es bueno, sea propicio a todo aquel que ha preparado su corazón para buscar a Dios,

19 W ho sets his heart to seek and yearn for God—the Lord, the God of his fathers—even though not complying with the purification regulations of the sanctuary.

a Jehová, el Dios de sus padres, aunque no esté purificado según los ritos de purificación del santuario.»

20 A nd the Lord hearkened to Hezekiah and healed the people.

Jehová oyó a Ezequías, y sanó al pueblo.

21 A nd the Israelites who were in Jerusalem kept the Feast of Unleavened Bread for seven days with great joy. The Levites and priests praised the Lord day by day, singing with instruments of much volume to the Lord.

Así los hijos de Israel que estaban en Jerusalén celebraron la fiesta solemne de los Panes sin levadura por siete días con grande gozo; y glorificaban a Jehová todos los días los levitas y los sacerdotes, cantando con instrumentos resonantes a Jehová.

22 H ezekiah spoke encouragingly to all the Levites who had good understanding in the Lord’s work. So the people ate the seven-day appointed feast, offering peace offerings, making confession to the Lord, the God of their fathers.

Y habló Ezequías al corazón de todos los levitas que habían mostrado buena disposición en el servicio de Jehová. Comieron de lo sacrificado en la fiesta solemne por siete días, ofreciendo sacrificios de paz, y dando gracias a Jehová, el Dios de sus padres.

23 A nd the whole assembly took counsel to prolong the feast another seven days; and they kept it another seven days with joy.

Y toda aquella asamblea determinó que celebraran la fiesta por otros siete días; y la celebraron otros siete días con alegría.

24 F or Hezekiah king of Judah gave to the assembly 1, 000 young bulls and 7, 000 sheep, and the princes gave 1, 000 young bulls and 10, 000 sheep. And a great number of priests sanctified themselves.

Porque Ezequías, rey de Judá, había dado a la asamblea mil novillos y siete mil ovejas; y también los príncipes dieron al pueblo mil novillos y diez mil ovejas; y muchos sacerdotes ya se habían santificado.

25 A ll the assembly of Judah, with the priests, the Levites, and all the assembly who with the sojourners came from the land of Israel to dwell in Judah, rejoiced.

Se alegró, pues, toda la congregación de Judá, como también los sacerdotes y levitas, y toda la multitud que había venido de Israel; asimismo los forasteros que habían venido de la tierra de Israel, y los que habitaban en Judá.

26 S o there was great joy in Jerusalem, for since the time of Solomon son of David king of Israel there was nothing like this in Jerusalem.

Hubo entonces gran regocijo en Jerusalén, porque desde los días de Salomón hijo de David, rey de Israel, no había habido cosa semejante en Jerusalén.

27 T hen the priests and Levites arose and blessed the people; and their voice was heard and their prayer came up to holy habitation in heaven.

Después los sacerdotes y levitas, puestos en pie, bendijeron al pueblo; y fue oída su voz, y su oración llegó hasta el cielo, su santa morada.
