1 I ndeed, my heart also trembles and leaps out of its place.

»Por eso también se estremece mi corazón y salta de su sitio.

2 H ear, oh, hear the roar of His voice and the sound of rumbling that goes out of His mouth!

Oíd atentamente el fragor de su voz, el estruendo que sale de su boca.

3 U nder the whole heaven He lets it loose, and His lightning to the ends of the earth.

Por debajo de todos los cielos lo dirige, y su luz alcanza los confines de la tierra.

4 A fter it His voice roars; He thunders with the voice of His majesty, and He restrains not when His voice is heard.

Después de ella suena un bramido: truena él con voz majestuosa. Se oye el trueno, y no lo detiene.

5 G od thunders marvelously with His voice; He does great things which we cannot comprehend.

Truena Dios maravillosamente con su voz. Hace grandes cosas, que nosotros no entendemos.

6 F or He says to the snow, Fall on the earth; likewise He speaks to the showers and to the downpour of His mighty rains.

Porque le dice a la nieve: “¡Cae sobre la tierra!”, y también a la llovizna y a los aguaceros torrenciales.

7 G od seals up (stops, brings to a standstill by severe weather) the hand of every man, that all men whom He has made may know His doings (His sovereign power and their subjection to it).

Así hace que el hombre se retire, para que todos los mortales reconozcan su obra.

8 T hen the beasts go into dens and remain in their lairs.

Las fieras entran en sus guaridas y permanecen en sus moradas.

9 O ut of its chamber comes the whirlwind, and cold from the scattering winds.

Del sur viene el torbellino, y el frío, de los vientos del norte.

10 B y the breath of God ice is given, and the breadth of the waters is frozen over.

Por el soplo de Dios llega el hielo y la extensión de las aguas se congela.

11 H e loads the thick cloud with moisture; He scatters the cloud of His lightning.

Él llena de humedad la densa nube; y con la luz desvanece la niebla.

12 A nd it is turned round about by His guidance, that they may do whatever He commands them upon the face of the habitable earth.

Asimismo, conforme a sus designios, las nubes giran en derredor, para hacer sobre la faz del mundo, en la tierra, lo que él les mande.

13 W hether it be for correction or for His earth or for His mercy and loving-kindness, He causes it to come.

Él las hará venir, unas veces como castigo, otras a causa de la tierra y otras por misericordia.

14 H ear this, O Job; stand still and consider the wondrous works of God.

»Escucha esto, Job; detente y considera las maravillas de Dios.

15 D o you know how God lays His command upon them and causes the lightning of His cloud to shine?

¿Sabes tú cómo Dios las pone en concierto y hace resplandecer la luz de su nube?

16 D o you know how the clouds are balanced, the wonderful works of Him Who is perfect in knowledge?

¿Has conocido tú las diferencias de las nubes, las maravillas del que es perfecto en sabiduría?

17 w hy your garments are hot when He quiets the earth with the south wind?

¿Por qué están calientes tus vestidos cuando él sosiega la tierra con el viento del sur?

18 C an you along with Him spread out the sky, strong as a molten mirror?

¿Extendiste tú con él los cielos, firmes como un espejo fundido?

19 T ell us with what words of man we may address such a Being; we cannot state our case because we are in the dark.

Muéstranos qué le hemos de decir, porque nosotros no podemos ordenar las ideas a causa de la oscuridad.

20 S o shall it be told Him that I wish to speak? If a man speaks, shall he be swallowed up?

¿Precisa él que le cuenten lo que yo digo, o que le informen de lo que dice el hombre?

21 A nd now men cannot look upon the light when it is bright in the skies, when the wind has passed and cleared them.

»Ahora no se puede mirar la luz resplandeciente de los cielos, pero luego que pasa el viento y los limpia,

22 G olden brightness and splendor come out of the north; terrible splendor and majesty God has upon Himself!

llega de la parte del norte la dorada claridad: ¡la terrible majestad que hay en Dios!

23 T ouching the Almighty, we cannot find Him out; He is excellent in power; and to justice and plenteous righteousness He does no violence.

Él es el Todopoderoso, grande en poder, al cual no alcanzamos, que a nadie oprime en juicio y en su gran justicia.

24 M en therefore fear Him; He regards and respects not any who are wise in heart.

Lo temen por tanto los hombres, pero él no estima a ninguno que en su propio corazón se cree sabio.»
