1 I f it had not been the Lord Who was on our side—now may Israel say—

De no haber estado Jehová por nosotros, diga ahora Israel,

2 I f it had not been the Lord Who was on our side when men rose up against us,

3 T hen they would have quickly swallowed us up alive when their wrath was kindled against us;

vivos nos habrían tragado entonces, cuando contra nosotros se encendió su furor.

4 T hen the waters would have overwhelmed us and swept us away, the torrent would have gone over us;

Entonces nos habrían inundado las aguas; hubiera pasado el torrente sobre nuestra alma;

5 T hen the proud waters would have gone over us.

6 B lessed be the Lord, Who has not given us as prey to their teeth!

¡Bendito sea Jehová, que no nos dio por presa a los dientes de ellos!

7 W e are like a bird escaped from the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we have escaped!

Nuestra alma escapó cual ave del lazo de los cazadores; se rompió el lazo y escapamos nosotros.

8 O ur help is in the name of the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.

Nuestro socorro está en el nombre de Jehová, que hizo el cielo y la tierra.
