1 W oe to the rebellious children, says the Lord, who take counsel and carry out a plan, but not Mine, and who make a league and pour out a drink offering, but not of My Spirit, thus adding sin to sin;

¡Ay de los hijos que se apartan, dice Jehová, para tomar consejo, y no de mí; para cobijarse con cubierta, y no de mi espíritu, añadiendo pecado a pecado!

2 W ho set out to go down into Egypt, and have not asked Me—to flee to the stronghold of Pharaoh and to strengthen themselves in his strength and to trust in the shadow of Egypt!

Se apartan para descender a Egipto pero no me han consultado. Quieren fortalecerse con la fuerza del faraón, y ponen su esperanza en el amparo de Egipto.

3 T herefore shall the strength and protection of Pharaoh turn to your shame, and the refuge in the shadow of Egypt be to your humiliation and confusion.

Pero la fuerza del faraón se os cambiará en vergüenza y la protección a la sombra de Egipto, en confusión.

4 F or though officials are at Zoan and his ambassadors arrive at Hanes,

Cuando estén sus jefes en Zoán y sus embajadores lleguen a Hanes,

5 Y et will all be ashamed because of a people who cannot profit them, who are not a help or benefit, but a shame and disgrace.

todos se avergonzarán de un pueblo que no les sirve de nada, ni los socorre ni les trae provecho alguno; antes les será para vergüenza y aun para deshonra.

6 A mournful, inspired prediction (a burden to be lifted up) concerning the beasts of the South (the Negeb): Oh, the heavy burden, the load of treasures going to Egypt! Through a land of trouble and anguish, in which are lioness and lion, viper and fiery flying serpent, they carry their riches upon the shoulders of young donkeys, and their treasures upon the humps of camels, to a people that will not and cannot profit them.

Profecía sobre las bestias del Neguev: Por tierra de tribulación y angustia, de donde salen la leona y el león, la víbora y la serpiente que vuela, llevan sobre lomos de asnos sus riquezas y sus tesoros sobre jorobas de camellos. Las llevan a un pueblo que no les será de provecho alguno.

7 F or Egypt’s help is worthless and toward no purpose. Therefore I have called her Rahab Who Sits Still.

Ciertamente, la ayuda de Egipto será vana e inútil. Por eso yo le he dado voces, que su fortaleza sería estarse quietos.

8 N ow, go, write it before them on a tablet and inscribe it in a book, that it may be as a witness for the time to come forevermore.

Ve, pues, ahora, y escribe esta visión en una tabla en presencia de ellos, y regístrala en un libro, para que quede hasta el día postrero, eternamente y para siempre.

9 F or this is a rebellious people, faithless and lying sons, children who will not hear the law and instruction of the Lord;

Porque este pueblo es rebelde, son hijos mentirosos, hijos que no quisieron oír la ley de Jehová;

10 W ho say to the seers, See not! and to the prophets, Prophesy not to us what is right! Speak to us smooth things, prophesy deceitful illusions.

que dicen a los videntes: «No tengáis visiones», y a los profetas: «No nos profeticéis la verdad, sino decidnos cosas halagüeñas, profetizad mentiras;

11 G et out of the true way, turn aside out of the path, cease holding up before us the Holy One of Israel.

dejad el camino, apartaos de la senda, quitad de nuestra presencia al Santo de Israel.»

12 T herefore thus says the Holy One of Israel: Because you despise and spurn this word and trust in cunning and oppression, in crookedness and perverseness, and rely on them,

Por tanto, el Santo de Israel dice así: «Porque desechasteis esta palabra y confiasteis en la violencia y en la iniquidad, y en ellas os habéis apoyado,

13 T herefore this iniquity and guilt will be to you like a broken section of a high wall, bulging out and ready to fall, whose crash will come suddenly and swiftly, in an instant.

por eso, este pecado os será como grieta que amenaza ruina, extendiéndose en una pared elevada, cuya caída viene de pronto, repentinamente.

14 A nd he shall break it as a potter’s vessel is broken, breaking it in pieces without sparing so that there cannot be found among its pieces one large enough to carry coals of fire from the hearth or to dip water out of the cistern.

Y se quebrará como se quiebra un vaso de alfarero, que sin misericordia lo hacen pedazos; tanto, que entre los pedazos no se halla un cascote que sirva para traer fuego del hogar o para sacar agua del pozo.»

15 F or thus said the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel: In returning and resting you shall be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength. But you would not,

Porque así dijo Jehová, el Señor, el Santo de Israel: «En la conversión y en el reposo seréis salvos; en la quietud y en confianza estará vuestra fortaleza.» Pero no quisisteis,

16 A nd you said, No! We will speed on horses! Therefore you will speed! You said, We will ride upon swift steeds! Therefore will they who pursue you be swift,

sino que dijisteis: «No, antes huiremos en caballos»; por tanto, vosotros huiréis. «Sobre corceles veloces cabalgaremos»; por tanto, serán veloces vuestros perseguidores.

17 O ne thousand of you will flee at the threat of one of them; at the threat of five you will flee till you are left like a beacon or a flagpole on the top of a mountain, and like a signal on a hill.

Un millar huirá ante la amenaza de uno; ante la amenaza de cinco, huiréis vosotros todos, hasta que quedéis como un mástil en la cumbre de un monte y como una bandera sobre una colina. Promesa de la gracia de Dios a Israel

18 A nd therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you; and therefore He lifts Himself up, that He may have mercy on you and show loving-kindness to you. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are all those who wait for Him, who expect and look and long for Him!

Sin embargo, Jehová esperará para tener piedad de vosotros. A pesar de todo, será exaltado y tendrá de vosotros misericordia, porque Jehová es Dios justo. ¡Bienaventurados todos los que confían en él!

19 O people who dwell in Zion at Jerusalem, you will weep no more. He will surely be gracious to you at the sound of your cry; when He hears it, He will answer you.

Ciertamente, pueblo de Sión, que moras en Jerusalén, nunca más llorarás, pues el que tiene misericordia se apiadará de ti y te responderá al oír la voz de tu clamor.

20 A nd though the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your Teacher will not hide Himself any more, but your eyes will constantly behold your Teacher.

Aunque el Señor os dará pan de congoja y agua de angustia, con todo, tus maestros nunca más te serán quitados, sino que tus ojos verán a tus maestros.

21 A nd your ears will hear a word behind you, saying, This is the way; walk in it, when you turn to the right hand and when you turn to the left.

Entonces tus oídos oirán detrás de ti la palabra que diga: «Éste es el camino, andad por él y no echéis a la mano derecha, ni tampoco os desviéis a la mano izquierda.»

22 T hen you will defile your carved images overlaid with silver and your molten images plated with gold; you will cast them away as a filthy bloodstained cloth, and you will say to them, Be gone!

Tendrás por impura la plata que recubre tus esculturas, y el oro que reviste tus imágenes fundidas. Los apartarás como a un trapo asqueroso y les dirás: «¡Salid de aquí!»

23 T hen will He give you rain for the seed with which you sow the soil, and bread grain from the produce of the ground, and it will be rich and plentiful. In that day your cattle will feed in large pastures.

Y dará el Señor lluvia a tu sementera, cuando siembres la tierra, y dará pan abundante y sustancioso como fruto de la tierra. Tus ganados en aquel tiempo serán apacentados en extensos pastizales.

24 T he oxen likewise and the young donkeys that till the ground will eat savory and salted fodder, which has been winnowed with shovel and with fork.

Tus bueyes y tus asnos que labran la tierra comerán grano limpio, aventado con pala y criba.

25 A nd upon every high mountain and upon every high hill there will be brooks and streams of water in the day of the great slaughter, when the towers fall.

Y sobre todo monte alto y sobre todo collado elevado habrá ríos y corrientes de aguas el día de la gran matanza, cuando caerán las torres.

26 M oreover, the light of the moon will be like the light of the sun, and the light of the sun will be sevenfold, like the light of seven days, in the day that the Lord binds up the hurt of His people, and heals their wound.

La luz de la luna será como la luz del sol, y la luz del sol será siete veces mayor, como la luz de siete días, el día cuando vende Jehová la herida de su pueblo y cure la llaga que le causó. El juicio de Jehová sobre Asiria

27 B ehold, the Name of the Lord comes from afar, burning with His anger, and in thick, rising smoke. His lips are full of indignation, and His tongue is like a consuming fire.

¡He aquí que el nombre de Jehová viene de lejos! Su rostro viene encendido con llamas de fuego devorador; sus labios, llenos de ira y su lengua como fuego que consume.

28 A nd His breath is like an overflowing stream that reaches even to the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of destruction; and a bridle that causes them to err will be in the jaws of the people.

Su aliento, cual torrente que inunda, llegará hasta el cuello, para zarandear a las naciones con criba de destrucción; y el freno estará en las quijadas de los pueblos, haciéndolos errar.

29 Y ou shall have a song as in the night when a holy feast is kept, and gladness of heart as when one marches in procession with a flute to go to the temple on the mountain of the Lord, to the Rock of Israel.

Vuestros cánticos resonarán como en la noche en que se celebra la Pascua, y tendréis alegría de corazón, como la del que al son de flauta viene al monte de Jehová, al Fuerte de Israel.

30 A nd the Lord shall cause His glorious voice to be heard and the descending blow of His arm to be seen, coming down with indignant anger and with the flame of a devouring fire, amid crashing blast and cloudburst, tempest, and hailstones.

Y Jehová hará oír su potente voz y hará ver cómo descarga su brazo, con furor en su rostro y llama de fuego consumidor, con torbellino, tempestad y piedras de granizo.

31 A t the voice of the Lord the Assyrians will be stricken with dismay and terror, when He smites them with His rod.

Porque Asiria, que hirió con vara, con la voz de Jehová será quebrantada.

32 A nd every passing stroke of the staff of punishment and doom which the Lord lays upon them shall be to the sound of timbrels and lyres, when in battle He attacks with swinging and menacing arms.

Cada golpe de la vara justiciera que descargue Jehová sobre él, será con panderos y con arpas; y en batalla tumultuosa peleará contra ellos.

33 F or Topheth has already been laid out and long ago prepared; yes, for the king and Molech it has been made ready, its pyre made deep and large, with fire and much wood; the breath of the Lord, like a stream of brimstone, kindles it.

Porque el Tofet ya de tiempo está dispuesto y preparado para el rey. Foso profundo y ancho, con pira de fuego y mucha leña. El soplo de Jehová, como torrente de azufre, lo encenderá.
