1 T hen answered Bildad the Shuhite,

Então respondeu Bildade, o suíta, dizendo:

2 H ow long will you say these things ? And how long shall the words of your mouth be as a mighty wind?

Até quando falarás tais coisas, e até quando serão as palavras da tua boca qual vento impetuoso?

3 D oes God pervert justice? Or does the Almighty pervert righteousness?

Perverteria Deus o direito? Ou perverteria o Todo-Poderoso a justiça?

4 I f your children have sinned against Him, then He has delivered them into the power of their transgression.

Se teus filhos pecaram contra ele, ele os entregou ao poder da sua transgressão.

5 I f you will seek God diligently and make your supplication to the Almighty,

Mas, se tu com empenho buscares a Deus, e, ao Todo-Poderoso fizeres a tua súplica,

6 T hen, if you are pure and upright, surely He will bestir Himself for you and make your righteous dwelling prosperous again.

se fores puro e reto, certamente mesmo agora ele despertará por ti, e tornará segura a habitação da tua justiça.

7 A nd though your beginning was small, yet your latter end would greatly increase.

Embora tenha sido pequeno o teu princípio, contudo o teu último estado aumentará grandemente.

8 F or inquire, I pray you, of the former age and apply yourself to that which their fathers have searched out,

Indaga, pois, eu te peço, da geração passada, e considera o que seus pais descobriram.

9 F or we are but of yesterday and know nothing, because our days upon earth are a shadow.

Porque nós somos de ontem, e nada sabemos, porquanto nossos dias sobre a terra, são uma sombra.

10 S hall not teach you and tell you and utter words out of their hearts (the deepest part of their nature)?

Não te ensinarão eles, e não te falarão, e do seu entendimento não proferirão palavras?

11 C an the rush or papyrus grow up without marsh? Can the flag or reed grass grow without water?

Pode o papiro desenvolver-se fora de um pântano. Ou pode o junco crescer sem água?

12 W hile it is yet green, in flower, and not cut down, it withers before any other herb.

Quando está em flor e ainda não cortado, seca-se antes de qualquer outra erva.

13 S o are the ways of all who forget God; and the hope of the godless shall perish.

Assim são as veredas de todos quantos se esquecem de Deus; a esperança do ímpio perecerá,

14 F or his confidence breaks, and his trust is a spider’s web.

a sua segurança se desfará, e a sua confiança será como a teia de aranha.

15 H e shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand; he shall hold fast to it, but it shall not last.

Encostar-se-á ã sua casa, porém ela não subsistirá; apegar-se-lhe-á, porém ela não permanecerá.

16 H e is green before the sun, and his shoots go forth over his garden.

Ele está verde diante do sol, e os seus renovos estendem-se sobre o seu jardim;

17 h is roots are wrapped about the heap, and see their way among the rocks.

as suas raízes se entrelaçam junto ao monte de pedras; até penetra o pedregal.

18 B ut if snatches him from his property, it will forget and deny him, I have never seen you.

Mas quando for arrancado do seu lugar, então este o negará, dizendo: Nunca te vi.

19 S ee, this is the joy of going the way! And from the dust others will spring up.

Eis que tal é a alegria do seu caminho; e da terra outros brotarão.

20 B ehold, as surely as God will never uphold wrongdoers, He will never cast away a blameless man.

Eis que Deus não rejeitará ao reto, nem tomará pela mão os malfeitores;

21 H e will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with joyful shouting.

ainda de riso te encherá a boca, e os teus lábios de louvor.

22 T hose who hate you will be clothed with shame, and the tents of the wicked shall be no more.

Teus aborrecedores se vestirão de confusão; e a tenda dos ímpios não subsistirá.
