1 T hen answered Bildad the Shuhite,

Atunci Bildad din Şuah a luat cuvântul şi a zis:

2 H ow long will you say these things ? And how long shall the words of your mouth be as a mighty wind?

„Până când vei mai vorbi astfel şi până când vor fi cuvintele tale ca un vânt năprasnic?

3 D oes God pervert justice? Or does the Almighty pervert righteousness?

Oare va perverti Dumnezeu judecata dreaptă? Va perverti Cel Atotputernic ce e drept?

4 I f your children have sinned against Him, then He has delivered them into the power of their transgression.

Dacă fiii tăi au păcătuit împotriva Lui, El i-a pedepsit pentru păcatul lor.

5 I f you will seek God diligently and make your supplication to the Almighty,

Dacă tu Îl cauţi pe Dumnezeu şi te rogi Celui Atotputernic,

6 T hen, if you are pure and upright, surely He will bestir Himself for you and make your righteous dwelling prosperous again.

dacă eşti curat şi drept, cu siguranţă, El Însuşi te va apăra şi-ţi va da înapoi locuinţa dreptăţii tale.

7 A nd though your beginning was small, yet your latter end would greatly increase.

Deşi începutul tău a fost neînsemnat, zilele tale de pe urmă vor fi prospere.

8 F or inquire, I pray you, of the former age and apply yourself to that which their fathers have searched out,

Întreabă generaţiile anterioare şi află ce-au învăţat părinţii lor,

9 F or we are but of yesterday and know nothing, because our days upon earth are a shadow.

pentru că noi suntem doar de ieri şi nu ştim nimic, iar zilele noastre pe pământ sunt doar o umbră.

10 S hall not teach you and tell you and utter words out of their hearts (the deepest part of their nature)?

Oare nu te vor învăţa şi nu-ţi vor spune şi nu vor scoate ei cuvinte din mintea lor?

11 C an the rush or papyrus grow up without marsh? Can the flag or reed grass grow without water?

Creşte papirusul unde nu este mlaştină? Creşte trestia unde nu este apă?

12 W hile it is yet green, in flower, and not cut down, it withers before any other herb.

Pe când este încă verde şi netăiată, se usucă mai repede ca iarba.

13 S o are the ways of all who forget God; and the hope of the godless shall perish.

Aşa sunt căile celor ce uită pe Dumnezeu; aşa piere nădejdea celui lipsit de evlavie.

14 F or his confidence breaks, and his trust is a spider’s web.

Încrederea lui este ca un fir subţire şi sprijinul lui este ca pânza unui păianjen.

15 H e shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand; he shall hold fast to it, but it shall not last.

Se bizuie pe casa lui, dar ea nu este tare, se prinde de ea, dar ea nu ţine.

16 H e is green before the sun, and his shoots go forth over his garden.

El este ca o plantă plină de sevă în lumina soarelui, care îşi întinde ramurile deasupra grădinii,

17 h is roots are wrapped about the heap, and see their way among the rocks.

îşi ţese rădăcinile printre pietre, caută un loc între stânci.

18 B ut if snatches him from his property, it will forget and deny him, I have never seen you.

Dar când e smulsă din locul ei, locul acela îi spune: «Nu te-am văzut niciodată!»

19 S ee, this is the joy of going the way! And from the dust others will spring up.

Aceasta este bucuria căii ei, iar din pământ vor răsări altele.

20 B ehold, as surely as God will never uphold wrongdoers, He will never cast away a blameless man.

Nu, Dumnezeu nu-l va respinge pe cel curat, nici nu va întări mâinile celor ce fac rău.

21 H e will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with joyful shouting.

El va umple din nou cu râsete gura ta, şi va aşeza strigăte de bucurie pe buzele tale.

22 T hose who hate you will be clothed with shame, and the tents of the wicked shall be no more.

Cei ce te urăsc vor fi acoperiţi de ruşine şi cortul celui rău nu va mai fi.“
