1 I n the seventh year, in the fifth, on the tenth of the month, certain of the elders of Israel came to inquire of the Lord and sat down before me.

În al şaptelea an, în luna a cincea, în ziua a zecea a lunii, au venit nişte bărbaţi din sfatul bătrânilor lui Israel ca să-L întrebe pe Domnul şi s-au aşezat înaintea mea.

2 T hen came the word of the Lord to me, saying,

Cuvântul Domnului a venit la mine şi mi-a zis:

3 S on of man, speak to the elders of Israel and say to them, Thus says the Lord God: Have you come to inquire of Me? As I live, says the Lord God, I will not be inquired of by you!

„Fiul omului, vorbeşte-le bătrânilor lui Israel şi spune-le că aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: «Aţi venit să Mă întrebaţi? Viu sunt Eu, că nu Mă voi lăsa întrebat de voi, zice Stăpânul Domn. »

4 W ill you judge them, son of man, will you judge them? Then cause them to know, understand, and realize the abominations of their fathers.

Vrei să-i judeci? Vrei să-i judeci, fiul omului? Atunci fă-le cunoscute urâciunile părinţilor lor.

5 A nd say to them, Thus says the Lord God: In the day when I chose Israel and lifted up My hand and swore to the offspring of the house of Jacob and made Myself known to them in the land of Egypt, when I lifted up My hand and swore to them, saying, I am the Lord your God,

Să le spui că aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: «În ziua când l-am ales pe Israel, am făcut jurământ cu urmaşii Casei lui Iacov. M-am făcut cunoscut lor în ţara Egiptului şi am făcut jurământ cu ei, afirmând: ‘Eu sunt Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru!’

6 O n that day I lifted up My hand and swore to them to bring them out of the land of Egypt to a land that I had searched out for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is an ornament and a glory to all lands.

În ziua aceea le-am jurat că-i voi scoate din ţara Egiptului şi că-i voi duce într-o ţară pe care am căutat-o pentru ei, o ţară unde curge lapte şi miere, cea mai frumoasă dintre toate ţările.

7 T hen said I to them, Let every man cast away the abominable things on which he feasts his eyes, and defile not yourselves with the idols of Egypt; I am the Lord your God.

Le-am zis să-şi arunce fiecare urâciunile dinaintea ochilor lui şi să nu se întineze cu idolii Egiptului, căci Eu sunt Domnul, Dumnezeul lor.

8 B ut they rebelled against Me and would not listen to Me; they did not every man cast away the abominable things on which they feasted their eyes, nor did they forsake the idols of Egypt. Then I, I will pour out My wrath upon them and finish My anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.

Dar ei s-au răzvrătit împotriva Mea şi nu au vrut să Mă asculte. Nici unul nu şi-a aruncat urâciunile, care îi atrăgeau privirile, şi nici nu a uitat de idolii Egiptului. Atunci am zis că-Mi voi revărsa furia peste ei şi-Mi voi consuma mânia împotriva lor, în mijlocul ţării Egiptului.

9 B ut I acted for My name’s sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations among whom they dwelt, in whose sight I made Myself known to them by bringing them out of the land of Egypt.

Dar nu le -am făcut astfel de dragul Numelui Meu, pentru ca acesta să nu fie pângărit în ochii neamurilor printre care ei se aflau şi înaintea cărora Mă făcusem cunoscut lor, cum că îi voi scoate din ţara Egiptului.

10 S o I caused them to go out from the land of Egypt and brought them into the wilderness.

Aşa că i-am scos din ţara Egiptului şi i-am dus în pustie.

11 A nd I gave them My statutes and showed and made known to them My judgments, which, if a man keeps, he must live in and by them.

Le-am dat hotărârile Mele şi le-am făcut cunoscute rânduielile Mele, pe care trebuie să le împlinească omul ca să trăiască prin ele.

12 M oreover, also I gave them My Sabbaths to be a sign between Me and them, that they might understand and realize that I am the Lord Who sanctifies them.

Le-am mai dat şi Sabatele Mele, ca semn între Mine şi ei, ca să se ştie că Eu sunt Domnul Care îi sfinţeşte.

13 B ut the house of Israel rebelled against Me in the wilderness; they walked not in My statutes and they despised and cast away My judgments, which, if a man keeps, he must even live in and by them; and they grievously profaned My Sabbaths. Then I thought I would pour out My wrath on them in the wilderness and uproot and consume them.

Dar cei din Casa lui Israel s-au răzvrătit împotriva Mea în pustie. Nu au urmat hotărârile Mele, au respins rânduielile Mele, pe care trebuie să le împlinească omul ca să trăiască prin ele, şi au pângărit mult Sabatele Mele. Am zis atunci că-Mi voi revărsa furia peste ei şi-i voi nimici în pustie.

14 B ut I acted for My name’s sake, that it should not be profaned before the nations in whose sight I brought them out.

Dar nu le- am făcut astfel de dragul Numelui Meu, pentru ca acesta să nu fie pângărit în faţa neamurilor dinaintea cărora i-am scos.

15 Y et also I lifted up My hand to swear to them in the wilderness that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the ornament and glory of all lands—

De asemenea, le-am jurat în pustie că nu-i voi mai duce în ţara pe care le-am rânduit-o, în ţara în care curge lapte şi miere, cea mai frumoasă dintre toate ţările,

16 B ecause they despised and rejected My ordinances and walked not in My statutes and profaned My Sabbaths, for their hearts went after their idols.

deoarece au respins rânduielile Mele, nu au urmat hotărârile Mele şi au pângărit Sabatele Mele. Căci inimile lor tot după idolii lor s-au dus.

17 Y et My eye pitied them instead of destroying them, and I did not make a full end of them in the wilderness.

Totuşi m-am uitat cu milă la ei, nu i-am distrus şi nu i-am lăsat să sfârşească în pustie.

18 B ut I said to their sons in the wilderness, You shall not walk in the statutes of your fathers nor observe their ordinances nor defile yourselves with their idols.

Atunci le-am zis fiilor lor în pustie: ‘Nu urmaţi hotărârile părinţilor voştri, nu păziţi rânduielile lor şi nu vă pângăriţi cu idolii lor.

19 I the Lord am your God; walk in My statutes and keep My ordinances,

Eu sunt Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru! Urmaţi hotărârile Mele, păziţi şi împliniţi rânduielile Mele

20 A nd hallow (separate and keep holy) My Sabbaths, and they shall be a sign between Me and you, that you may know, understand, and realize that I am the Lord your God.

şi sfinţiţi Sabatele Mele, ca să fie un semn între Mine şi voi şi să se ştie că Eu sunt Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru!’

21 Y et the sons rebelled against Me; they walked not in My statutes, neither kept My ordinances which, if a man does, he must live in and by them; they profaned My Sabbaths. Then I thought I would pour out My wrath on them and finish My anger against them in the wilderness.

Dar şi copiii lor s-au răzvrătit împotriva Mea. Ei nu au urmat hotărârile Mele, nu au păzit rânduielile Mele, pe care trebuie să le împlinească omul ca să trăiască, iar Sabatele Mele le-au pângărit. Atunci am zis că Îmi voi revărsa furia peste ei şi-Mi voi consuma mânia împotriva lor în pustie.

22 Y et I withheld My hand and acted for My name’s sake, that it should not be debased and profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I had brought them forth.

Dar Mi-am retras mâna de dragul Numelui Meu, ca să nu fie pângărit în faţa neamurilor dinaintea cărora i-am scos.

23 M oreover, I lifted up My hand and swore to them in the wilderness that I would scatter them among the nations and disperse them in the countries,

De asemenea, le-am jurat în pustie că îi voi împrăştia printre neamuri şi îi voi răspândi prin ţările lumii,

24 B ecause they had not executed My ordinances but had despised and rejected My statutes and had profaned My Sabbaths, and their eyes were set on their fathers’ idols.

pentru că nu au împlinit rânduielile Mele, ci au respins hotărârile Mele, au pângărit Sabatele Mele şi şi-au aţintit privirile spre idolii părinţilor lor.

25 W herefore also I gave them statutes that were not good and ordinances whereby they should not live and could not have life,

Mai mult, le-am dat hotărâri care nu erau bune şi rânduieli prin care să nu poată trăi.

26 A nd I pollute and make themselves unclean in their own offerings, in that they caused to pass through the fire all the firstborn, that I might make them desolate, to the end that they might know, understand, and realize that I am the Lord.

I-am lăsat să se spurce prin darurile lor când îşi treceau prin foc întâii născuţi, ca să-i îngrozesc şi să ştie astfel că Eu sunt Domnul.»

27 T herefore, son of man, speak to the house of Israel and say to them, Thus says the Lord God: Again in this your fathers blasphemed Me, in that they dealt faithlessly and treacherously with Me and committed a treasonous trespass against Me.

De aceea, fiul omului, vorbeşte-le celor din Casa lui Israel şi spune-le din partea Stăpânului Domn, astfel: «Iată prin ce anume M-au mai blasfemiat părinţii voştri, fiind necredincioşi faţă de Mine.

28 F or when I had brought them into the land which I lifted up My hand and swore to give to them, then they saw every high hill and every dark and leafy tree, and they offered there their sacrifices and there they presented their offering that provoked My anger and sadness; there also they made their sweet-smelling savor and poured out there their drink offerings.

Când i-am dus în ţara pe care am jurat că le-o voi da, ei şi-au aruncat privirile spre fiecare deal înalt, spre fiecare copac stufos şi acolo şi-au înjunghiat jertfele, acolo şi-au adus ofrandele prin care M-au înfuriat, acolo şi-au pus miresmele plăcute şi acolo au turnat darurile de băutură.

29 T hen I said to them, What is the high place to which you go? And the name of it is called Bamah to this day.

Eu i-am întrebat: ‘Ce este această înălţime la care vă duceţi?’ De aceea i-au pus numele Bama şi aşa i-a rămas numele până în ziua de astăzi.» Promisiunea restaurării

30 T herefore say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord God: Do you debase and defile yourselves after the manner of your fathers? And do you play the harlot after their loathsome and detestable things?

Spune-le deci celor din Casa lui Israel că aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: «Vă veţi spurca oare la fel ca părinţii voştri, prostituându-vă înaintea urâciunilor lor?

31 A nd when you offer your gifts, when you make your sons pass through the fire, do you not debase and defile yourselves with all your idols to this day? And shall I be inquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I live, says the Lord God, I will not be inquired of by you!

Aducându-vă darurile şi trecându-vă fiii prin foc, voi continuaţi până astăzi să vă întinaţi prin toţi idolii voştri. Şi Eu să Mă las întrebat de voi, Casă a lui Israel? Viu sunt Eu, zice Stăpânul Domn, că nu Mă voi lăsa întrebat.

32 A nd that which has come up in your mind shall never happen, in that you think, We will be as the nations, as the tribes of the countries, to serve idols of wood and stone.

Voi ziceţi: ‘Vrem să fim ca neamurile, ca triburile celorlalte ţări, şi să slujim lemnului şi pietrei!’ Ceea ce voi aveţi însă în minte nu se va întâmpla niciodată!

33 A s I live, says the Lord God, surely with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm and with wrath poured out will I be King over you.

Viu sunt Eu, zice Stăpânul Domn, că voi domni peste voi cu mână puternică, cu braţ întins şi revărsându-Mi furia!

34 A nd I will bring you out from the peoples and will gather you out of the countries in which you are scattered, with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm and with wrath poured out.

Vă voi scoate dintre popoare şi vă voi aduna din ţările în care sunteţi împrăştiaţi, cu mână puternică, cu braţ întins şi revărsându-Mi furia.

35 A nd I will bring you into the wilderness of the peoples, and there will I enter into judgment with you and contend with you face to face.

Vă voi duce în pustia popoarelor şi acolo mă voi judeca cu voi faţă în faţă.

36 A s I entered into judgment and contended with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I enter into judgment and contend with you, says the Lord God.

Aşa cum i-am judecat pe strămoşii voştri în pustia ţării Egiptului, tot aşa vă voi judeca şi pe voi, zice Stăpânul Domn.

37 A nd I will cause you to pass under the rod and bring you into the covenant to which you are permanently bound.

Vă voi trece pe sub toiag şi vă voi aduce din nou în legământ.

38 A nd I will purge out and separate from among you the rebels and those who transgress against Me; I will bring them out of the country where they temporarily dwell, but they shall not enter the land of Israel. Then you shall know, understand, and realize that I am the Lord.

Îi voi înlătura dintre voi pe cei răzvrătiţi şi pe cei nesupuşi Mie; îi voi scoate din ţara unde au fost străini, dar nu vor intra în ţara lui Israel. Atunci veţi şti că Eu sunt Domnul.

39 A s for you, O house of Israel, thus says the Lord God: Go, serve every one of you his idols, now and hereafter, if you will not listen to Me! But you shall not profane My holy name any more with your sacrificial gifts and your idols!

Cât despre voi, Casă a lui Israel, aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: ‘Duceţi-vă acum şi slujiţi fiecare idolilor voştri! După aceea însă veţi asculta de Mine cu siguranţă şi nu-Mi veţi mai pângări Numele Meu cel sfânt cu darurile şi cu idolii voştri!

40 F or on My holy mountain, on the mountain height of Israel, says the Lord God, there all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, shall serve Me. There will I accept them, and there will I require your offerings and the firstfruits and the choicest of your contributions, with all your sacred things.

Căci pe muntele Meu cel sfânt, pe muntele cel înălţat al lui Israel, zice Stăpânul Domn, acolo Îmi va sluji toată Casa lui Israel, toţi cei din ţară, iar Eu îi voi primi cu bunăvoinţă. Acolo vă voi cere contribuţiile voastre şi darurile voastre din cele dintâi roade, împreună cu toate jertfele voastre sfinte.

41 I will accept you as a pleasant odor when I lead you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries in which you have been scattered, and I will manifest My holiness among you in the sight of the nations.

Când vă voi scoate dintre popoare şi vă voi aduna din ţările în care aţi fost împrăştiaţi, vă voi accepta ca pe o aromă plăcută şi Mă voi arăta sfânt prin voi înaintea neamurilor.

42 A nd you shall know, understand, and realize that I am the Lord, when I bring you into the land of Israel, into the country which I lifted up My hand and swore to give to your fathers.

Şi veţi şti că Eu sunt Domnul când vă voi aduce în ţara lui Israel, în ţara pe care am jurat strămoşilor voştri că le-o voi da.

43 A nd there you shall remember your ways and all your doings with which you have defiled yourselves, and you shall loathe yourselves in your own sight for all your evil deeds which you have done.

Acolo vă veţi aminti de umbletele voastre şi de toate faptele prin care v-aţi pângărit şi vă va fi scârbă de voi înşivă din cauza tuturor relelor pe care le-aţi săvârşit.

44 A nd you shall know, understand, and realize that I am the Lord, when I deal with you for My name’s sake, not according to your evil ways nor according to your corrupt doings, O house of Israel, says the Lord God.

Şi veţi şti că Eu sunt Domnul când mă voi purta cu voi ţinând cont de Numele Meu, nu de purtarea voastră rea şi de faptele voastre corupte, Casă a lui Israel, zice Stăpânul Domn.’»“ Iudeea este condamnată

45 M oreover, the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

Cuvântul Domnului a venit la mine şi mi-a zis:

46 S on of man, set your face toward the south, preach against the south, and prophesy against the forest land of the South (the Negeb),

– Fiul omului, îndreaptă-ţi faţa spre sud, predică împotriva ţinutului de la miazăzi şi profeţeşte împotriva pădurii din sud.

47 A nd say to the forest of the South (the Negeb), Hear the word of the Lord; Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will kindle a fire in you and it shall devour every green tree in you and every dry tree. The blazing flame shall not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be scorched by it.

Spune-i pădurii din sud astfel: „Ascultă Cuvântul Domnului! Aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: «Iată, voi aprinde în tine un foc, care va arde orice copac verde şi orice copac uscat. Flacăra arzătoare nu va fi stinsă, şi totul, din sud până la nord, va fi pârjolit de ea.

48 A ll flesh shall see that I the Lord have kindled it; it shall not be quenched.

Şi orice făptură va vedea că Eu am aprins-o; ea nu va mai fi stinsă.»“

49 T hen said I, Ah, Lord God! They are saying of me, Does he not speak in parables and make allegories?

Atunci am zis: – Ah, Stăpâne Doamne, ei zic despre mine că nu vorbesc decât în pilde!
