după preştiinţa lui Dumnezeu Tatăl, prin sfinţirea lucrată de Duhul, spre ascultarea şi stropirea cu sângele lui Isus Cristos: harul şi pacea să vă fie înmulţite! Născuţi din nou la o nădejde vie

3 P raised (honored, blessed) be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah)! By His boundless mercy we have been born again to an ever-living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

Binecuvântat să fie Dumnezeu, Tatăl Domnului nostru Isus Cristos, Care, după marea Lui îndurare, ne-a născut din nou la o nădejde vie, prin învierea lui Isus Cristos din morţi,

4 i nto an inheritance which is beyond the reach of change and decay, unsullied and unfading, reserved in heaven for you,

şi la o moştenire nepieritoare şi nepângărită, care nu se ofileşte şi care este păstrată în ceruri pentru voi.

5 W ho are being guarded (garrisoned) by God’s power through faith '> final] salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.

Voi sunteţi păziţi de puterea lui Dumnezeu, prin credinţă, pentru mântuirea care este gata să fie descoperită în vremea de pe urmă.

6 b e exceedingly glad on this account, though now for a little while you may be distressed by trials and suffer temptations,

În ea, voi vă bucuraţi nespus, măcar că acum, dacă trebuie, sunteţi întristaţi pentru puţin timp prin diferite încercări,

7 S o that of your faith may be tested, which is infinitely more precious than the perishable gold which is tested and purified by fire. to redound to praise and glory and honor when Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) is revealed.

pentru ca testarea credinţei voastre, cu mult mai valoroasă decât aurul care piere şi care totuşi este testat prin foc, să aducă laudă, glorie şi onoare la descoperirea lui Isus Cristos.

8 W ithout having seen Him, you love Him; though you do not now see Him, you believe in Him and exult and thrill with inexpressible and glorious (triumphant, heavenly) joy.

Pe El voi Îl iubiţi fără să-L fi văzut, credeţi în El, chiar dacă acum nu-L vedeţi, şi vă bucuraţi nespus, cu o bucurie de nedescris şi glorioasă,

9 y ou receive the result (outcome, consummation) of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

pentru că primiţi, la capătul credinţei voastre, mântuirea sufletelor voastre.

10 T he prophets, who prophesied of the grace (divine blessing) which was intended for you, searched and inquired earnestly about this salvation.

Cu privire la această mântuire, profeţii care au profeţit despre harul ce urma să fie al vostru, au căutat şi au cercetat cu atenţie,

11 T hey sought to whom or when this was to come which the Spirit of Christ working within them was indicating when He predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories that should follow.

încercând să afle ce vreme sau ce împrejurări le arăta Duhul lui Cristos din ei, atunci când a prezis suferinţele lui Cristos şi slava care urma după acestea.

12 I t was then disclosed to them that the services they were rendering were not meant for themselves and their period of time, but for you. things which have now already been made known plainly to you by those who preached the good news (the Gospel) to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Into these things angels long to look!

Lor le-a fost descoperit că nu slujeau pentru ei înşişi, ci pentru voi, cu privire la lucrurile care v-au fost anunţate acum prin cei ce v-au vestit Evanghelia prin Duhul Sfânt trimis din cer – lucruri în care chiar şi îngerii doresc să privească. Fiţi sfinţi!

13 S o brace up your minds; be sober (circumspect, morally alert); set your hope wholly and unchangeably on the grace (divine favor) that is coming to you when Jesus Christ (the Messiah) is revealed.

Prin urmare, încingeţi-vă coapsele minţii voastre, fiind treji, puneţi-vă pe deplin nădejdea în harul care vă va fi adus la descoperirea lui Isus Cristos!

14 a s children of obedience; do not conform yourselves to the evil desires in your former ignorance.

Ca nişte copii ascultători, să nu vă conformaţi poftelor pe care le aveaţi înainte, când eraţi în ignoranţă,

15 B ut as the One Who called you is holy, you yourselves also be holy in all your conduct and manner of living.

ci, aşa cum Cel Ce v-a chemat este sfânt, fiţi şi voi sfinţi în toată purtarea voastră,

16 F or it is written, You shall be holy, for I am holy.

deoarece este scris: „Fiţi sfinţi, pentru că Eu sunt sfânt!“

17 A nd if you call upon Him as Father Who judges each one impartially according to what he does, you should conduct yourselves with true reverence throughout the time of your temporary residence.

Şi dacă-L chemaţi ca Tată pe Cel Ce judecă cu nepărtinire pe fiecare după faptele lui, atunci trăiţi cu frică în timpul peregrinării voastre,

18 Y ou must know (recognize) that you were redeemed (ransomed) from the useless (fruitless) way of living inherited by tradition from forefathers, not with corruptible things silver and gold,

pentru că ştiţi că nu cu lucruri pieritoare – argint sau aur – aţi fost răscumpăraţi din felul vostru de viaţă fără rost, moştenit de la strămoşii voştri,

19 B ut with the precious blood of Christ (the Messiah), like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.

ci cu sângele preţios al lui Cristos, ca al unui miel fără meteahnă şi fără pată.

20 I t is true that He was chosen and foreordained (destined and foreknown for it) before the foundation of the world, but He was brought out to public view (made manifest) in these last days (at the end of the times) for the sake of you.

El a fost ales înainte de întemeierea lumii, dar a fost arătat în vremurile de pe urmă, pentru voi.

21 T hrough Him you believe in (adhere to, rely on) God, Who raised Him up from the dead and gave Him honor and glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.

Prin El sunteţi credincioşi în Dumnezeu, Care L-a înviat din morţi şi I-a dat slavă, astfel încât credinţa şi nădejdea voastră să fie în Dumnezeu.

22 S ince by your obedience to the Truth through the Spirit you have purified your hearts for the sincere affection of the brethren, love one another fervently from a pure heart.

Acum că v-aţi curăţit sufletele prin ascultarea de adevăr, ca să aveţi o dragoste de fraţi fără ipocrizie, iubiţi-vă unii pe alţii cu căldură, dintr-o inimă curată!

23 Y ou have been regenerated (born again), not from a mortal origin ( seed, sperm), but from one that is immortal by the ever living and lasting Word of God.

Aţi fost născuţi din nou, nu dintr-o sămânţă pieritoare, ci dintr-una nepieritoare, prin Cuvântul lui Dumnezeu care este viu şi care rămâne pe vecie.

24 F or all flesh (mankind) is like grass, and all its glory (honor) like flower of grass. The grass withers and the flower drops off,

Căci, „Orice făptură este ca iarba şi toată gloria ei este ca floarea de pe câmp! Iarba se usucă, iar floarea cade,

25 B ut the Word of the Lord ( divine instruction, the Gospel) endures forever. And this Word is the good news which was preached to you.

însă Cuvântul Domnului rămâne pe vecie!“ Şi acesta este Cuvântul care v-a fost vestit prin Evanghelie.
