1 T herefore, while the promise of entering His rest still holds and is offered, let us be afraid '> to distrust it], lest any of you should think he has come too late and has come short of it.

De aceea, întrucât promisiunea intrării în odihna Lui rămâne încă deschisă, să avem grijă ca nici unul dintre voi să nu se pomenească venit prea târziu.

2 F or indeed we have had the glad tidings proclaimed to us just as truly as they; but the message they heard did not benefit them, because it was not mixed with faith (with the leaning of the entire personality on God in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness) by those who heard it; neither were they united in faith with the ones who heard (did believe).

Şi nouă ne-a fost vestită Evanghelia ca şi lor, dar lor, cuvântul pe care l-au auzit nu le-a fost de nici un folos, pentru că cei care l-au auzit nu l-au unit cu credinţa,

3 F or we who have believed (adhered to and trusted in and relied on God) do enter that rest, in accordance with His declaration that those should not enter when He said, As I swore in My wrath, They shall not enter My rest; and this He said although works had been completed and prepared from the foundation of the world.

însă cei care am crezut intrăm în acea odihnă, aşa cum a spus: „De aceea am jurat în mânia Mea: «Nu vor intra în odihna Mea!»“ Şi totuşi lucrările Sale au fost terminate încă de la crearea lumii –

4 F or in a certain place He has said this about the seventh day: And God rested on the seventh day from all His works.

pentru că a spus undeva, despre ziua a şaptea, astfel: „Dumnezeu s-a odihnit în ziua a şaptea de toate lucrările Lui“

5 A nd in this He said, They shall not enter My rest.

şi, din nou, în acelaşi loc: „Nu vor intra în odihna Mea!“

6 S eeing then that the promise remains over for some to enter that rest, and that those who formerly were given the good news about it and the opportunity, failed to appropriate it and did not enter because of disobedience,

Deci, fiindcă rămâne ca unii să intre în ea, şi întrucât cei dintâi, cărora li s-a vestit Evanghelia, n-au intrat din cauza neascultării,

7 A gain He sets a definite day, Today, saying through David after so long a time in the words already quoted, Today, if you would hear His voice and when you hear it, do not harden your hearts.

El stabileşte din nou o zi: „astăzi“, spunând, prin David, după atât de mult timp, aşa cum a fost spus mai înainte: „Astăzi dacă auziţi glasul Lui, nu vă împietriţi inimile!“

8 F or if Joshua had given them rest, He would not speak afterward about another day.

Dacă Iosua le-ar fi dat odihnă, atunci Dumnezeu nu le -ar fi vorbit mai târziu despre o altă zi.

9 S o then, there is still awaiting a full and complete Sabbath-rest reserved for the people of God;

Rămâne încă pentru poporul lui Dumnezeu o odihnă de Sabat,

10 F or he who has once entered rest also has ceased from of human labors, just as God rested from those labors peculiarly His own.

pentru că oricine intră în odihna Lui se va odihni de lucrările lui, ca şi Dumnezeu de ale Sale.

11 L et us therefore be zealous and exert ourselves and strive diligently to enter that rest, that no one may fall or perish by the same kind of unbelief and disobedience.

Să ne grăbim deci să intrăm în acea odihnă, pentru ca nimeni să nu cadă printr-o neascultare ca a lor!

12 F or the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and spirit, and of joints and marrow, exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.

Într-adevăr, Cuvântul lui Dumnezeu este viu şi activ, mai ascuţit decât orice sabie cu două tăişuri, străpungând până desparte sufletul şi duhul, încheieturile şi măduva, şi poate judeca gândurile şi intenţiile inimii.

13 A nd not a creature exists that is concealed from His sight, but all things are open and exposed, naked and defenseless to the eyes of Him with Whom we have to do.

Nu este nimic care să poată fi ascuns de El, ci totul este gol şi descoperit ochilor Lui, ai Celui înaintea Căruia trebuie să dăm socoteală. Isus, Marele nostru Preot

14 I nasmuch then as we have a great High Priest Who has ascended and passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.

Aşadar, fiindcă avem un Mare Preot Care a străbătut cerurile, pe Isus, Fiul lui Dumnezeu, să ne ţinem tare de mărturisirea noastră.

15 F or we do not have a High Priest Who is unable to understand and sympathize and have a shared feeling with our weaknesses and infirmities and liability to the assaults of temptation, but One Who has been tempted in every respect as we are, yet without sinning.

Căci n-avem un Mare Preot Care să nu poată avea milă de slăbiciunile noastre, ci Unul Care a fost ispitit în toate felurile, ca şi noi, dar fără să păcătuiască.

16 L et us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in good time for every need.

Aşadar, să ne apropiem cu îndrăzneală de tronul harului, ca să primim îndurare şi să găsim har care să ne ajute la timpul potrivit.
