1 B ut the Spirit distinctly and expressly declares that in latter times some will turn away from the faith, giving attention to deluding and seducing spirits and doctrines that demons teach,

Duhul spune limpede că, în vremurile din urmă, unii se vor îndepărta de la credinţă şi vor da atenţie duhurilor înşelătoare şi învăţăturilor demonilor.

2 T hrough the hypocrisy and pretensions of liars whose consciences are seared (cauterized),

Aceste lucruri vin din ipocrizia mincinoşilor, a căror conştiinţă a fost însemnată cu fierul roşu.

3 W ho forbid people to marry and to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and have knowledge of the truth.

Ei interzic căsătoria şi se abţin de la mâncărurile pe care le-a creat Dumnezeu pentru a fi primite cu mulţumire de către cei ce cred şi cunosc adevărul.

4 F or everything God has created is good, and nothing is to be thrown away or refused if it is received with thanksgiving.

Căci orice făptură creată de Dumnezeu este bună şi nimic nu trebuie respins, dacă este luat cu mulţumire,

5 F or it is hallowed and consecrated by the Word of God and by prayer.

pentru că este sfinţit prin Cuvântul lui Dumnezeu şi prin rugăciune.

6 I f you lay all these instructions before the brethren, you will be a worthy steward and a good minister of Christ Jesus, ever nourishing your own self on the truths of the faith and of the good instruction which you have closely followed.

Dacă-i vei învăţa pe fraţi aceste lucruri, vei fi un bun slujitor al lui Cristos Isus, fiind hrănit astfel de cuvintele credinţei şi ale bunei învăţături pe care ai urmat-o îndeaproape.

7 B ut refuse and avoid irreverent legends (profane and impure and godless fictions, mere grandmothers’ tales) and silly myths, and express your disapproval of them. Train yourself toward godliness (piety),.

Fereşte-te de basmele lumeşti şi băbeşti! Disciplinează-te în ce priveşte evlavia!

8 F or physical training is of some value (useful for a little), but godliness (spiritual training) is useful and of value in everything and in every way, for it holds promise for the present life and also for the life which is to come.

Căci disciplinarea trupului este de puţin folos, dar evlavia este de folos în toate, fiindcă ea are promisiunea vieţii de acum şi a celei care va să vină.

9 T his saying is reliable and worthy of complete acceptance by everybody.

Acest cuvânt este vrednic de încredere şi pe deplin vrednic să fie primit.

10 W ith a view to this we toil and strive, suffer reproach, because we have hope on the living God, Who is the Savior (Preserver, Maintainer, Deliverer) of all men, especially of those who believe (trust in, rely on, and adhere to Him).

Căci pentru aceasta trudim şi ne luptăm, fiindcă ne-am pus nădejdea în Dumnezeul cel Viu, Care este Mântuitorul tuturor oamenilor, mai ales al celor credincioşi.

11 C ontinue to command these things and to teach them.

Porunceşte şi învaţă aceste lucruri!

12 L et no one despise or think less of you because of your youth, but be an example (pattern) for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.

Nimeni să nu-ţi dispreţuiască tinereţea, ci fii un exemplu pentru credincioşi în vorbire, în comportament, în dragoste, în credinţă, în curăţie.

13 T ill I come, devote yourself to reading, to exhortation (preaching and personal appeals), and to teaching and instilling doctrine.

Până când voi veni eu, dă atenţie citirii, încurajării şi învăţăturii!

14 D o not neglect the gift which is in you, which was directly imparted to you by prophetic utterance when the elders laid their hands upon you.

Să nu neglijezi darul care este în tine, care ţi-a fost dat prin profeţie, după ce cei din sfatul bătrânilor şi-au pus mâinile peste tine.

15 P ractice and cultivate and meditate upon these duties; throw yourself wholly into them, so that your progress may be evident to everybody.

Practică aceste lucruri şi dedică-te lor, pentru ca progresul tău să fie văzut de toţi!

16 L ook well to yourself and to teaching; persevere in these things, for by so doing you will save both yourself and those who hear you.

Fii atent la tine însuţi şi la învăţătura pe care o dai! Stăruie în aceste lucruri, pentru că, făcând aceasta, te vei salva pe tine şi pe cei ce te ascultă!
