1 A gain in the ninth year, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month, the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

În anul al nouălea, în ziua a zecea a lunii a zecea, Cuvântul Domnului a venit la mine şi mi-a zis:

2 S on of man, record the name of the day, even of this same day; the king of Babylon set himself against and assailed Jerusalem this same day.

„Fiul omului, scrie data zilei de azi, chiar a acestei zile, deoarece chiar în această zi împăratul Babilonului s-a năpustit asupra Ierusalimului.

3 A nd utter a parable against the rebellious house and say to them, Thus says the Lord God: Put on a pot; put it on and also pour water into it.

Rosteşte o pildă cu privire la această Casă răzvrătită şi spune-i că aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: «Pune cazanul, pune-l şi toarnă apă în el!

4 P ut into it the pieces, all the good pieces, the thigh and the shoulder; fill it with the choice of the bones.

Pune în el bucăţi de carne, cele mai bune bucăţi: piciorul şi pulpa. Umple-l cu cele mai bune oase!

5 T ake the choicest of the flock and burn also the unused bones under it, and make it boil well and seethe its bones in.

Să fie luat ce-i mai bun din turmă. Îngrămădeşte apoi lemne sub el şi fă-l să fiarbă în clocot, ca să fiarbă oasele din el!»

6 T herefore thus says the Lord God: Woe to the bloody city, to the pot whose rust and scum are in it and whose rust and scum have not gone out of it! Take out of it piece by piece, without making any choice.

Căci aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: «Vai de cetatea vărsătoare de sânge, cazanul cel plin de rugină de pe care nu se duce rugina. Scoate pe rând din ea bucăţile de carne, fără să tragi la sorţi,

7 F or the blood she has shed remains in the midst of her; she put it upon the bare rock; she did not pour it on the ground to cover it with dust.

căci sângele pe care l-a vărsat ea este în mijlocul ei; l-a pus pe suprafaţa stâncii; nu l-a vărsat pe pământ ca să-l acopere apoi cu ţărână.

8 T hat it may cause wrath to come up to take vengeance, I have put her blood upon the bare rock, that it would not be covered.

Ca să-Mi arăt furia, ca să mă răzbun, i-am vărsat sângele pe suprafaţa stâncii, pentru ca astfel el să nu fie acoperit.»

9 T herefore thus says the Lord God: Woe to the bloodguilty city! Also I will make the pile great.

De aceea, aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: «Vai de cetatea cea vărsătoare de sânge! Drept urmare şi Eu îi voi mări rugul.

10 H eap on wood, kindle the fire and make it hot, boil well the meat and mix the spices, pour out the broth when thick, and let the bones be burned up.

Îngrămădeşte multe lemne, aprinde focul, fierbe bine carnea, amestecă în zeamă şi lasă până vor arde şi oasele!

11 T hen set back empty upon the coals, that the bronze of it may be hot and may glow and the filthiness of it may be melted in it and the rust and scum of it may be consumed.

Apoi aşază cazanul gol pe jăratic, ca să se încălzească, să i se încingă arama şi astfel să se topească murdăria de pe el şi să i se şteargă rugina.

12 S he has wearied herself and Me with toil; yet her great rust and scum go not forth out of her, for however hotly the fire burns, her thick rust and filth will not go out of her by fire.

M-am trudit în van, căci rugina lui cea multă tot nu a ieşit de pe el, nici măcar prin foc.

13 I n your filthiness is abomination; because I would have cleansed you and you were not cleansed, you shall not be cleansed from your filthiness any more until I have satisfied My wrath against and upon you.

Necurăţia ta este infidelitatea. Pentru că Eu am vrut să te curăţ de necurăţia ta, dar tu nu te-ai curăţit, nu vei mai fi curăţită până când nu Îmi voi potoli furia faţă de tine.

14 I the Lord have spoken it; it shall come to pass and I will do it; I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I relent; according to your ways and according to your doings shall they judge and punish you, says the Lord God.

Eu, Domnul, am vorbit! A venit vremea şi voi face întocmai! Nu te voi cruţa, nu voi avea milă şi nu-Mi va părea rău! Vei fi judecată după umbletele tale şi după faptele tale, zice Stăpânul Domn.»“ Moartea soţiei lui Ezechiel

15 A lso the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

Cuvântul Domnului a venit la mine şi mi-a zis:

16 S on of man, behold, I take away from you the desire of your eyes at a single stroke. Yet you shall neither mourn nor weep, neither shall your tears flow.

„Fiul omului, iată că îţi voi lua printr-o lovitură ceea ce este mai de preţ în ochii tăi. Tu însă să nu jeleşti, să nu plângi şi să nu-ţi dea lacrimile!

17 S igh and groan, but not aloud; make no mourning for the dead; bind your turban upon your head and put your shoes on your feet, and do not cover your beard or eat the bread of mourners.

Suspină în tăcere, dar nu te tângui ca pentru cei morţi! Leagă-ţi turbanul şi pune-ţi sandalele în picioare; să nu-ţi acoperi barba şi să nu mănânci pâinea pe care ţi-o vor aduce oamenii.“

18 S o I spoke to the people in the morning and in the evening my wife died, and I did the next morning as I was commanded.

Am vorbit poporului dimineaţa, iar seara mi-a murit soţia. A doua zi, dimineaţa, am făcut cum mi s-a poruncit.

19 A nd the people said to me, Will you not tell us what these things are supposed to mean to us, that you are acting as you do?

Cei din popor m-au întrebat: – Nu vrei să ne lămureşti ce înseamnă ceea ce faci?

20 T hen I answered them, The word of the Lord came to me, saying,

Eu le-am răspuns: – Cuvântul Domnului a venit la mine şi mi-a zis:

21 S peak to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will profane My sanctuary— pride as your strength, the desire of your eyes, and the pity and sympathy of your soul; and your sons and your daughters whom you have left behind shall fall by the sword.

„Spune-i Casei lui Israel că aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: «Iată, voi lăsa să fie pângărit Lăcaşul Meu, fala puterii voastre, ceea ce este mai de preţ în ochii voştri şi de ceea ce vă este sufletul ataşat mai mult, iar fiii voştri şi fiicele voastre, pe care îi veţi fi lăsat în urmă, vor fi răpuşi de sabie.

22 A nd you shall do as I have done; you shall not cover your beard nor eat the bread of mourning,

Atunci veţi face şi voi cum am făcut eu. Nu vă veţi acoperi barba şi nu veţi mânca pâine de jale;

23 A nd your turbans shall be upon your heads and your shoes upon your feet; you shall not mourn or weep, but you shall pine away for your iniquities (your guilt) and sigh and groan to one another.

veţi purta turban pe cap şi sandale în picioare, nu veţi jeli şi nici nu veţi plânge, ci vă veţi măcina sufleteşte din cauza nelegiuirilor voastre şi vă veţi văita între voi.

24 T hus Ezekiel is to you a sign; according to all that he has done you shall do. And when this comes, you shall know, understand, and realize that I am the Lord God.

Ezechiel va fi pentru voi un semn. Tot ceea ce a făcut el, veţi face şi voi. Când se vor întâmpla acestea, veţi şti că Eu sunt Stăpânul Domn. »

25 A nd you, son of man, on the day when I take from them their strength and their stronghold, their joy and their glory, the delight of their eyes and their hearts’ chief desire, and also their sons and their daughters—

Tu însă, fiul omului, în ziua când le voi lua tăria, bucuria şi gloria, ce este mai de preţ în ochii lor şi ceea ce le înalţă sufletul mai mult şi, de asemenea, pe fiii lor şi pe fiicele lor,

26 O n that day an escaped fugitive shall come to you to cause you to hear of it with your own ears.

în ziua aceea, va veni un fugar la tine ca să te înştiinţeze.

27 I n that day your mouth shall be open to him who has escaped, and you shall speak and be no more speechless, and you shall be a sign to them and they shall know, understand, and realize that I am the Lord.

În ziua aceea, când va veni fugarul, ţi se va deschide şi ţie gura, vei vorbi şi nu vei mai fi mut. Vei fi astfel un semn pentru popor şi ei vor şti că Eu sunt Domnul. “
