1 T he word of the Lord came again to me, saying,

Cuvântul Domnului a venit la mine şi mi-a zis:

2 S on of man, prophesy and say, Thus says the Lord God: Wail, Alas for the day!

„Fiul omului, profeţeşte şi spune că aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: «Bociţi şi ziceţi: ‘Vai ce zi va fi!’

3 F or the day is near, even the day of the Lord is near, a cloudy day; it shall be the time for the nations.

Căci ziua este aproape, ziua Domnului este aproape! Va fi o zi plină de nori, o vreme de osândă pentru neamuri!

4 A nd a sword shall come upon Egypt, and anguish and great sorrow shall be in Ethiopia (Cush), when the slain fall in Egypt and they carry away her great mass of people and of things and her foundations are broken down.

O sabie va intra în Egipt şi va fi teroare în Cuş. Când cei înjunghiaţi vor cădea în Egipt, i se vor lua bogăţiile şi i se vor dărâma temeliile.

5 E thiopia (Cush) and Put, Lud and all the mingled people, Cub (Lub, Libya) and the children of the land of the covenant shall fall with by the sword.

Cuş, Put, Lud, toată Arabia, Cub şi fiii ţării legământului vor cădea răpuşi de sabie!»

6 T hus says the Lord: They also who uphold or lean upon and are supported by Egypt shall fall, and the pride of her power shall come down; from Migdol to Syene they shall fall within her by the sword, says the Lord God.

Aşa vorbeşte Domnul: «Sprijinitorii Egiptului vor cădea, şi mândria puterii lui se va prăbuşi. Din Migdol până la Syene vor cădea răpuşi de sabie, zice Stăpânul Domn.»

7 A nd they shall be desolated in the midst of countries that are desolated, and her cities shall be in the midst of cities that are wasted.

«Ţara va deveni una pustiită printre alte ţări pustiite, iar cetăţile ei se vor afla printre celelalte cetăţi pustiite.

8 A nd they shall know (understand and realize) that I am the Lord, when I have set a fire in Egypt and all her helpers are broken and destroyed.

Şi vor şti că Eu sunt Domnul, când voi da foc Egiptului şi când toţi cei ce-l ajută vor fi zdrobiţi.

9 I n that day shall messengers go forth from Me in ships to terrify the careless and unsuspecting Ethiopians, and there shall be anguish and great sorrow upon them as in the day of Egypt’s, for behold, comes!

În ziua aceea nişte soli vor pleca dinaintea Mea pe corăbii ca să-l îngrozească pe Cuş, cel care se credea în siguranţă. Îl va cuprinde spaima în ziua căderii Egiptului, căci iată că ziua aceea vine!»

10 T hus says the Lord God: I will also make the tumult and the wealth and the large population of Egypt to cease by the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon.

Aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: «Voi nimici mulţimea egiptenilor prin mâna lui Nebucadneţar, împăratul Babilonului.

11 H e and his people with him, the terrible of the nations, shall be brought in to destroy the land, and they shall draw their swords against Egypt and fill the land with the slain.

El şi armata lui, cei mai înspăimântători dintre neamuri, vor fi aduşi să distrugă ţara. Îşi vor scoate săbiile împotriva Egiptului şi vor umple ţara de morţi.

12 A nd I will make the streams dry and will sell the land into the hand of evil men, and I will make the land desolate, and all that is in it, by the hand of strangers. I the Lord have spoken it.

Voi preface râurile Nilului în pământ uscat şi voi vinde ţara în mâinile celor răi. Voi pustii ţara cu tot ce cuprinde ea prin mâna străinului. Eu, Domnul, am vorbit!»

13 T hus says the Lord God: I will also destroy the idols and I will put an end to the images in Noph or Memphis, and there shall be no longer a prince of the land of Egypt. And I will put fear in the land of Egypt.

Aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: «Voi distruge idolii şi voi stârpi chipurile din Nof. Nu va mai rămâne nici un prinţ în ţara Egiptului şi voi răspândi frica în ţara Egiptului.

14 A nd I will make Pathros desolate and will set fire to Zoan and will execute judgments and punishments upon No or Thebes.

Voi pustii Patrosul, voi da foc Ţoanului şi voi face judecată în No.

15 A nd I will pour My wrath upon Pelusium, the stronghold of Egypt, and I will cut off the tumult, the prosperity and the population of No or Thebes.

Îmi voi revărsa furia peste Sin, fortăreaţa Egiptului, şi voi nimici mulţimea din No.

16 A nd I will set fire to Egypt; Pelusium shall have great anguish and No or Thebes shall be torn open and Noph or Memphis shall have adversaries in the daytime and all the day long.

Voi da foc Egiptului; Sin va tremura de groază, în No se va pătrunde printr-o spărtură, iar Nof va fi cucerit de duşmani ziua în amiaza mare.

17 T he young men of Aven or On and of Pibeseth shall fall by the sword, and the shall go into captivity.

Tinerii din On şi din Pi-Beset vor cădea răpuşi de sabie şi înseşi cetăţile acestea vor merge în captivitate.

18 A t Tehaphnehes also the day shall withdraw itself and be dark when I break there the yokes and dominion of Egypt, and the pride of her power shall come to an end. As for her, a cloud shall cover her and her daughters shall go into captivity.

Întunecată va fi ziua în care, la Tahpanhes, voi rupe jugurile Egiptului iar mândria puterii lui se va sfârşi. Un nor va acoperi Tahpanhesul, iar fiicele lui vor merge în captivitate.

19 T hus will I execute judgments and punishments upon Egypt. Then shall they know (understand and realize) that I am the Lord.

Îmi voi împlini astfel judecăţile împotriva Egiptului şi va şti că Eu sunt Domnul. »“

20 A nd in the eleventh year, in the first month, on the seventh day of the month, the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

În anul al unsprezecelea, în ziua a şaptea a lunii întâi, Cuvântul Domnului a venit la mine şi mi-a zis:

21 S on of man, I have broken the arm of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and behold, it has not been bound up to heal it by binding it with a bandage, to make it strong to hold and wield the sword.

„Fiul omului, am frânt braţul lui Faraon, monarhul Egiptului. Şi iată că nu va fi legat ca să se poată vindeca, nici nu i se va pune o legătură ca să se prindă la loc, să se refacă şi să poată mânui din nou sabia.

22 T herefore thus says the Lord God: Behold, I am against Pharaoh king of Egypt and will break his arms, both the strong one and the one which was broken, and I will cause the sword to fall from his hand.

De aceea, aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: «Iată, sunt împotriva lui Faraon, monarhul Egiptului; îi voi frânge amândouă braţele, atât pe cel puternic, cât şi pe cel rupt şi voi face să-i cadă sabia din mână.

23 A nd I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations and will disperse them throughout the countries.

Îi voi risipi pe egipteni printre neamuri şi-i voi împrăştia în ţări străine.

24 A nd I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon and put My sword in his hand, but I will break Pharaoh’s arms and he will groan before with the groanings of a mortally wounded man.

Voi întări braţele împăratului Babilonului şi-i voi pune sabia în mână, dar voi frânge braţele lui Faraon, iar acesta va geme înaintea lui cum gem cei loviţi de moarte.

25 B ut I will strengthen and hold up the arms of the king of Babylon and the arms of Pharaoh shall fall down, and they shall know (understand and realize) that I am the Lord, when I put My sword into the hand of the king of Babylon and he shall stretch it out upon the land of Egypt.

Când voi întări braţele împăratului Babilonului, iar braţele lui Faraon vor cădea, vor şti că Eu sunt Domnul şi că Eu am pus sabia Mea în mâna împăratului Babilonului şi am întins-o împotriva ţării Egiptului.

26 A nd I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations and disperse them through the countries, and they shall know (understand and realize) that I am the Lord.

Îi voi risipi pe egipteni printre neamuri şi-i voi împrăştia în ţări străine. Şi vor şti astfel că Eu sunt Domnul. »“
