1 T hus says the Lord: For three transgressions of Moab and for four, I will not reverse the punishment of it or revoke My word concerning it, because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime.

Aşa vorbeşte Domnul: «Pentru trei nelegiuiri ale Moabului, ba chiar pentru patru, nu-Mi voi retrage mânia, pentru că a ars până şi oasele regelui Edomului, făcându-le scrum.

2 S o I will send a fire upon Moab and it shall devour the strongholds of Kerioth, and Moab shall die amid uproar, shouting, and the sound of the trumpet.

Voi trimite foc în Moab, care va mistui fortăreţele Cheriotului. Moab va muri în mijlocul încleştării, în mijlocul strigătelor de război şi al sunetului de corn.

3 A nd I will cut off the ruler from its midst and will slay all its princes with him, says the Lord.

Îl voi nimici pe judecător din mijlocul lui şi îi voi omorî toate căpeteniile împreună cu el», zice Domnul. Judecată împotriva lui Iuda

4 T hus says the Lord: For three transgressions of Judah and for four, I will not reverse the punishment of it or revoke My word concerning it, because they have despised and rejected the law of the Lord and have not kept His commandments, but their lies, after which their fathers have walked, caused them to err and go astray.

Aşa vorbeşte Domnul: «Pentru trei nelegiuiri ale lui Iuda, ba chiar pentru patru, nu-Mi voi retrage mânia, pentru că au respins Legea Domnului şi nu au păzit hotărârile Lui şi pentru că s-au lăsat duşi în rătăcire de idolii lor mincinoşi, după care au umblat şi strămoşii lor.

5 S o I will send a fire upon Judah and it shall devour the strongholds of Jerusalem.

Voi trimite foc în Iuda şi va mistui fortăreţele Ierusalimului.» Judecată împotriva Israelului

6 T hus says the Lord: For three transgressions of Israel and for four, I will not reverse the punishment of it or revoke My word concerning it, because they have sold the just and uncompromisingly righteous for silver and the needy for a pair of sandals;

Aşa vorbeşte Domnul: «Pentru trei nelegiuiri ale lui Israel, ba chiar pentru patru, nu-Mi voi retrage mânia, pentru că l-au vândut pe cel drept pe arginţi, iar pe cel sărac – pentru o pereche de sandale.

7 T hey pant after the poor dust of the earth on their heads; they defraud and turn aside the humble; and a man and his father will have sexual relations with the same maiden, so that My holy name is profaned.

Ei calcă în picioare, în pulberea pământului, capetele celor săraci şi dau la o parte dreptul celor oprimaţi. Şi fiul, şi tatăl merg la aceeaşi fată, ca să profaneze Numele Meu cel sfânt.

8 A nd they lay themselves down beside every altar upon clothes they have taken in pledge, and in the house of their God they frivolously drink the wine which has been exacted from those fined.

Pe hainele luate drept garanţie, se tolănesc lângă orice altar, iar vinul luat din amenzi îl beau în templul zeilor lor.

9 Y et I destroyed the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars and he was strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above and his roots from beneath.

Eu i-am nimicit pe amoriţi dinaintea lor, deşi erau înalţi ca cedrii şi puternici ca stejarii. Deasupra, le-am nimicit roadele, iar dedesubt – rădăcinile.

10 A lso I brought you up out of the land of Egypt and led you forty years through the wilderness to possess the land of the Amorite.

Eu v-am scos din ţara Egiptului şi v-am purtat prin pustie timp de patruzeci de ani, ca să vă dau în stăpânire ţara amoriţilor.

11 A nd I raised up some of your sons for prophets and some of your young men for dedicated ones. Is this not true, O you children of Israel? says the Lord.

Am ridicat profeţi dintre fiii voştri şi nazirei dintre tinerii voştri. Nu este aşa, israeliţilor? zice Domnul.

12 B ut you gave the dedicated ones wine to drink and commanded the prophets, saying, Prophesy not.

Dar voi le-aţi dat nazireilor să bea vin şi le-aţi poruncit profeţilor să nu mai profeţească!

13 B ehold, I am pressed under you and I will press you down in your place as a cart presses that is full of sheaves.

Iată, vă voi zdrobi aşa cum zdrobeşte carul când este încărcat cu snopi.

14 A nd flight shall be lost to the swift and refuge shall fail him; the strong shall not retain and confirm his strength, neither shall the mighty deliver himself.

Cel iute nu va putea să fugă, cel tare nu se va putea baza pe tăria lui, iar cel puternic nu-şi va putea scăpa viaţa.

15 N either shall he stand who handles the bow, and he who is swift of foot shall not deliver himself; neither shall he who rides the horse deliver his life.

Cel ce mânuieşte arcul nu va putea să ţină piept, pedestraşul cel iute nu va putea scăpa, iar călăreţul nu-şi va putea salva viaţa.

16 A nd he who is courageous among the mighty shall flee away naked on that day, says the Lord.

Chiar şi cel mai curajos dintre războinici va fugi în pielea goală în ziua aceea, zice Domnul.»“
