1 T hus says the Lord: For three transgressions of Moab and for four, I will not reverse the punishment of it or revoke My word concerning it, because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime.

Так говорить Господь: За три переступи Моава й за чотири цього не прощу: за те, що спалив на вапно кості едомського царя!

2 S o I will send a fire upon Moab and it shall devour the strongholds of Kerioth, and Moab shall die amid uproar, shouting, and the sound of the trumpet.

І пошлю Я огонь на Моава, і пожере він палати Керіййоту, і загине Моав серед галасу, серед крику, при голосі рога.

3 A nd I will cut off the ruler from its midst and will slay all its princes with him, says the Lord.

І витну суддю з-серед нього, а з ним позабиваю князів його всіх, говорить Господь.

4 T hus says the Lord: For three transgressions of Judah and for four, I will not reverse the punishment of it or revoke My word concerning it, because they have despised and rejected the law of the Lord and have not kept His commandments, but their lies, after which their fathers have walked, caused them to err and go astray.

Так говорить Господь: За три прогріхи Юди й за чотири цього не прощу: за те, що повідкидали Господній Закон, і постанов Його не стерегли, і що на манівці їх звели їхні лжебоги, за якими пішли їхні батьки.

5 S o I will send a fire upon Judah and it shall devour the strongholds of Jerusalem.

І пошлю Я на Юду огонь, і пожере він палати Єрусалиму!

6 T hus says the Lord: For three transgressions of Israel and for four, I will not reverse the punishment of it or revoke My word concerning it, because they have sold the just and uncompromisingly righteous for silver and the needy for a pair of sandals;

Так говорить Господь: За три переступи Ізраїлеві й за чотири цього не прощу: за те, що за срібло вони продають справедливого, а за чоботи вбогого!

7 T hey pant after the poor dust of the earth on their heads; they defraud and turn aside the humble; and a man and his father will have sexual relations with the same maiden, so that My holy name is profaned.

Вони топчуть у земному поросі голову бідних, а дорогу сумирних викривлюють. А син й його батько вчащають до однієї блудниці, щоб святе Моє Ймення зневажити.

8 A nd they lay themselves down beside every altar upon clothes they have taken in pledge, and in the house of their God they frivolously drink the wine which has been exacted from those fined.

І вони стелять одіж заставлену, щоб півлежати при кожному жертівнику, і п'ють в домі Бога свого вино від покараних.

9 Y et I destroyed the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars and he was strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above and his roots from beneath.

І Я вигубив був з-перед них Аморея, що його височінь, як високий той кедр, і він міцний, як дуб. Та Я плід його знищив згори, а здолу коріння його.

10 A lso I brought you up out of the land of Egypt and led you forty years through the wilderness to possess the land of the Amorite.

А вас Я був вивів із краю єгипетського, і сорок років провадив пустинею вас, щоб ви Край аморейський успадкували.

11 A nd I raised up some of your sons for prophets and some of your young men for dedicated ones. Is this not true, O you children of Israel? says the Lord.

І пророків Я збуджував з ваших синів, а з ваших юнців назореїв. Хіба ж то не так, синове Ізраїлеві? говорить Господь.

12 B ut you gave the dedicated ones wine to drink and commanded the prophets, saying, Prophesy not.

А ви назореїв поїли вином, а пророкам наказували й говорили: Не пророкуйте!

13 B ehold, I am pressed under you and I will press you down in your place as a cart presses that is full of sheaves.

Отож Я потисну на вас, як тисне снопами наповнений віз,

14 A nd flight shall be lost to the swift and refuge shall fail him; the strong shall not retain and confirm his strength, neither shall the mighty deliver himself.

і згине й в моторного втеча, і потужний не втримає сили своєї, а лицар свого життя не врятує.

15 N either shall he stand who handles the bow, and he who is swift of foot shall not deliver himself; neither shall he who rides the horse deliver his life.

І не встоїть із лука стрілець, і своїми ногами прудкий не втече, і верхівець не врятує свого життя.

16 A nd he who is courageous among the mighty shall flee away naked on that day, says the Lord.

І наймужніший з лицарства нагим утече того дня, говорить Господь.
