1 W hen men began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them,

І сталося, що розпочала людина розмножуватись на поверхні землі, і їм народилися дочки.

2 T he sons of God saw that the daughters of men were fair, and they took wives of all they desired and chose.

І побачили Божі сини людських дочок, що вродливі вони, і взяли собі жінок із усіх, яких вибрали.

3 T hen the Lord said, My Spirit shall not forever dwell and strive with man, for he also is flesh; but his days shall yet be 120 years.

І промовив Господь: Не буде Мій Дух перемагатися в людині навіки, бо блудить вона. Вона тіло, і дні її будуть сто і двадцять літ.

4 T here were giants on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God lived with the daughters of men, and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.

За тих днів на землі були велетні, а також по тому, як стали приходити Божі сини до людських дочок. І вони їм народжували, то були силачі, що славні від віку.

5 T he Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination and intention of all human thinking was only evil continually.

І бачив Господь, що велике розбещення людини на землі, і ввесь нахил думки серця її тільки зло повсякденно.

6 A nd the Lord regretted that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved at heart.

І пожалкував був Господь, що людину створив на землі. І засмутився Він у серці Своїм.

7 S o the Lord said, I will destroy, blot out, and wipe away mankind, whom I have created from the face of the ground—not only man, the beasts and the creeping things and the birds of the air—for it grieves Me and makes Me regretful that I have made them.

І промовив Господь: Зітру Я людину, яку Я створив, з поверхні землі, від людини аж до скотини, аж до плазунів, і аж до птаства небесного. Бо жалкую, що їх Я вчинив.

8 B ut Noah found grace (favor) in the eyes of the Lord.

Але Ной знайшов милість у Господніх очах.

9 T his is the history of the generations of Noah. Noah was a just and righteous man, blameless in his generation; Noah walked with God.

Це ось оповість про Ноя. Ной був чоловік праведний і невинний у своїх поколіннях. Ной з Богом ходив.

10 A nd Noah became the father of three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

І Ной породив трьох синів: Сима, Хама й Яфета.

11 T he earth was depraved and putrid in God’s sight, and the land was filled with violence (desecration, infringement, outrage, assault, and lust for power).

І зіпсулась земля перед Божим лицем, і наповнилась земля насильством.

12 A nd God looked upon the world and saw how degenerate, debased, and vicious it was, for all humanity had corrupted their way upon the earth and lost their true direction.

І бачив Бог землю, і ось зіпсулась вона, кожне бо тіло зіпсуло дорогу свою на землі.

13 G od said to Noah, I intend to make an end of all flesh, for through men the land is filled with violence; and behold, I will destroy them and the land.

І промовив Господь до Ноя: Прийшов кінець кожному тілу перед лицем Моїм, бо наповнилась земля насильством від них. І ось Я винищу їх із землі.

14 M ake yourself an ark of gopher or cypress wood; make in it rooms (stalls, pens, coops, nests, cages, and compartments) and cover it inside and out with pitch (bitumen).

Зроби собі ковчега з дерева ґофер. З перегородками зробиш ковчега, і смолою осмолиш його ізсередини та ізнадвору.

15 A nd this is the way you are to make it: the length of the ark shall be 300 cubits, its breadth 50 cubits, and its height 30 cubits.

І отак його зробиш: три сотні ліктів довжина ковчега, п'ятдесят ліктів ширина йому, а тридцять ліктів височина йому.

16 Y ou shall make a roof or window for the ark and finish it to a cubit above—and the door of the ark you shall put in the side of it; and you shall make it with lower, second, and third stories.

Отвір учиниш в ковчезі, і звузиш на лікоть його від гори, а вхід до ковчегу влаштуєш на боці його. Зробиш його на поверхи долішні, другорядні й третьорядні.

17 F or behold, I, even I, will bring a flood of waters upon the earth to destroy and make putrid all flesh under the heavens in which are the breath and spirit of life; everything that is on the land shall die.

А Я ось наведу потоп, воду на землю, щоб з-під неба винищити кожне тіло, що в ньому дух життя. Помре все, що на землі!

18 B ut I will establish My covenant (promise, pledge) with you, and you shall come into the ark—you and your sons and your wife and your sons’ wives with you.

І складу Я заповіта Свойого з тобою, і ввійдеш до ковчегу ти, і сини твої, і жінка твоя, і жінки твоїх синів із тобою.

19 A nd of every living thing of all flesh, you shall bring two of every sort into the ark, to keep them alive with you; they shall be male and female.

І впровадиш до ковчегу по двоє з усього, з усього живого, із кожного тіла, щоб їх заховати живими з тобою. Вони будуть самець і самиця.

20 O f fowls and birds according to their kinds, of beasts according to their kinds, of every creeping thing of the ground according to its kind—two of every sort shall come in with you, that they may be kept alive.

Із птаства за родом його, і з худоби за родом її, і з усіх плазунів на землі за родом їх, по двоє з усього увійдуть до тебе, щоб їх зберегти живими.

21 A lso take with you every sort of food that is eaten, and you shall collect and store it up, and it shall serve as food for you and for them.

А ти набери собі з кожної їжі, що вона на споживання, і буде для тебе й для них на поживу.

22 N oah did this; he did all that God commanded him.

І зробив Ной усе, як звелів йому Бог, так зробив він.
