1 A reed was then given to me, like a staff, and I was told: Rise up and measure the sanctuary of God and the altar, and those who worship there.

І дано тростину мені, подібну до палиці, і сказано: Устань, і зміряй храма Божого й жертівника, і тих, хто вклоняється в ньому.

2 B ut leave out of your measuring the court outside the sanctuary of God; omit that, for it is given over to the Gentiles (the nations), and they will trample the holy city underfoot for 42 months (three and one-half years).

А двір, що за храмом, лиши та не міряй його, бо він даний поганам, і сорок два місяці будуть топтати вони святе місто.

3 A nd I will grant the power of prophecy to My two witnesses for 1, 260 (42 months; three and one-half years), dressed in sackcloth.

І звелю Я двом свідкам Своїм, і будуть вони пророкувати тисячу двісті й шістдесят день, зодягнені в волосяницю.

4 T hese are the two olive trees and the two lampstands which stand before the Lord of the earth.

Вони дві оливі та два свічники, що стоять перед Богом землі.

5 A nd if anyone attempts to injure them, fire pours from their mouth and consumes their enemies; if anyone should attempt to harm them, thus he is doomed to be slain.

І коли б хто схотів учинити їм кривду, то вийде огонь з їхніх уст, і поїсть ворогів їхніх. А коли хто захоче вчинити їм кривду, той отак мусить бути забитий.

6 T hese have power to shut up the sky, so that no rain may fall during the days of their prophesying (their prediction of events relating to Christ’s kingdom and its speedy triumph); and they also have power to turn the waters into blood and to smite and scourge the earth with all manner of plagues as often as they choose.

Вони мають владу небо замкнути, щоб за днів їхніх пророцтва не йшов дощ. І мають владу вони над водою, у кров обертати її, і вдарити землю всілякою карою, скільки разів вони схочуть.

7 B ut when they have finished their testimony and their evidence is all in, the beast (monster) that comes up out of the Abyss (bottomless pit) will wage war on them, and conquer them and kill them.

А коли вони скінчать свідоцтво своє, то звірина, що з безодні виходить, із ними війну поведе, і вона їх переможе та їх повбиває.

8 A nd their dead bodies in the open street ( a public square) of the great city which is in a spiritual sense called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified.

І їхні трупи полишить на майдані великого міста, що зветься духовно Содом і Єгипет, де й Господь наш був розп'ятий.

9 F or three and a half days men from the races and tribes and languages and nations will gaze at their dead bodies and will not allow them to be put in a tomb.

І багато з народів, і з племен, і з язиків, і з поган будуть дивитися півчверта дні на їхні трупи, не дозволять покласти в гроби їхніх трупів.

10 A nd those who dwell on the earth will gloat and exult over them and rejoice exceedingly, taking their ease and sending presents to one another, because these two prophets had been such a vexation and trouble and torment to all the dwellers on the earth.

А мешканці землі будуть тішитися та радіти над ними, і дарунки пошлють один одному, бо мучили ці два пророки мешканців землі.

11 B ut after three and a half days, by God’s gift the breath of life again entered into them, and they rose up on their feet, and great dread and terror fell on those who watched them.

А по півчверта днях дух життя ввійшов у них від Бога, і вони повставали на ноги свої. І напав жах великий на тих, хто дивився на них!

12 T hen heard a strong voice from heaven calling to them, Come up here! And before the very eyes of their enemies they ascended into heaven in a cloud.

І почули вони гучний голос із неба, що їм говорив: Зійдіть сюди! І на небо зійшли вони в хмарі, і вороги їхні дивились на них.

13 A nd at that hour there was a tremendous earthquake and one tenth of the city was destroyed (fell); seven thousand people perished in the earthquake, and those who remained were filled with dread and terror and were awe-struck, and they glorified the God of heaven.

І тієї години зчинився страшний землетрус, і десята частина міста того завалилась... І в цім трусі загинуло сім тисяч людських імен, а решта обгорнена жахом була, і вони віддали славу Богу Небесному!...

14 T he second woe (calamity) has passed; now the third woe is speedily to come.

Друге горе минуло! Ото незабаром настане за ним третє горе!

15 T he seventh angel then blew trumpet, and there were mighty voices in heaven, shouting, The dominion (kingdom, sovereignty, rule) of the world has now come into the possession and become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ (the Messiah), and He shall reign forever and ever (for the eternities of the eternities)!

І засурмив сьомий Ангол, і на небі зчинились гучні голоси, що казали: Перейшло панування над світом до Господа нашого та до Христа Його, і Він зацарює на вічні віки!

16 T hen the twenty-four elders '> the heavenly Sanhedrin], who sit on their thrones before God, prostrated themselves before Him and worshiped,

І двадцять чотири старці, що на престолах своїх перед Богом сидять, попадали на обличчя свої, та й уклонилися Богові,

17 E xclaiming, To You we give thanks, Lord God Omnipotent, Who is and was, for assuming the high sovereignty and the great power that are Yours and for beginning to reign.

кажучи: Дяку складаємо Тобі, Господи, Боже Вседержителю, що Ти є й що Ти був, що прийняв Свою силу велику та й зацарював!

18 A nd the heathen (the nations) raged, but Your wrath (retribution, indignation) came, the time when the dead will be judged and Your servants the prophets and saints rewarded—and those who revere (fear) Your name, both low and high and small and great—and for destroying the corrupters of the earth.

А погани розлютилися, та гнів Твій прийшов, і час настав мертвих судити, і дати заплату рабам Твоїм, пророкам і святим, і тим, хто Ймення Твого боїться малим і великим, і знищити тих, хто нищить землю.

19 T hen the sanctuary of God in heaven was thrown open, and the ark of His covenant was seen standing inside in His sanctuary; and there were flashes of lightning, loud rumblings (blasts, mutterings), peals of thunder, an earthquake, and a terrific hailstorm.

І розкрився храм Божий на небі, і ковчег заповіту Його в Його храмі з'явився. І зчинилися блискавки, і гуркіт, і громи, і землетрус, і великий град...
