1 H owever, brethren, I could not talk to you as to spiritual, but as to nonspiritual, as to mere infants in Christ '> unable to talk yet!]

І я, браття, не міг говорити до вас, як до духовних, але як до тілесних, як до немовлят у Христі.

2 I fed you with milk, not solid food, for you were not yet strong enough; but even yet you are not strong enough,

Я вас годував молоком, а не твердою їжею, бо ви не могли її їсти, та й тепер ще не можете,

3 F or you are still of the flesh. For as long as envying and jealousy and wrangling and factions among you, are you not unspiritual and of the flesh, behaving yourselves after a human standard and like mere (unchanged) men?

бо ви ще тілесні. Бо коли заздрість та суперечки між вами, то чи ж ви не тілесні, і хіба не полюдському робите?

4 F or when one says, I belong to Paul, and another, I belong to Apollos, are you not ordinary (unchanged) men?

Бо коли хто каже: Я ж Павлів, а інший: Я Аполлосів, то чи ж ви не тілесні?

5 W hat then is Apollos? What is Paul? Ministering servants through whom you believed, even as the Lord appointed to each his task:

Бо хто ж Аполлос? Або хто то Павло? Вони тільки служителі, що ви ввірували через них, і то скільки кому дав Господь.

6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God was making it grow and gave the increase.

Я посадив, Аполлос поливав, Бог же зростив,

7 S o neither he who plants is anything nor he who waters, but God Who makes it grow and become greater.

тому ані той, хто садить, ані хто поливає, є щось, але Бог, що родить!

8 H e who plants and he who waters are equal (one in aim, of the same importance and esteem), yet each shall receive his own reward (wages), according to his own labor.

І хто садить, і хто поливає одне, і кожен одержить свою нагороду за працею своєю!

9 F or we are fellow workmen (joint promoters, laborers together) with and for God; you are God’s garden and vineyard and field under cultivation, God’s building.

Бо ми співробітники Божі, а ви Боже поле, Божа будівля.

10 A ccording to the grace (the special endowment for my task) of God bestowed on me, like a skillful architect and master builder I laid foundation, and now another is building upon it. But let each be careful how he builds upon it,

Я за благодаттю Божою, що дана мені, як мудрий будівничий, основу поклав, а інший будує на ній; але нехай кожен пильнує, як він будує на ній!

11 F or no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).

Ніхто бо не може покласти іншої основи, окрім покладеної, а вона Ісус Христос.

12 B ut if anyone builds upon the Foundation, whether it be with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw,

А коли хто на цій основі будує з золота, срібла, дорогоцінного каміння, із дерева, сіна, соломи,

13 T he work of each will become known (shown for what it is); for the day will disclose and declare it, because it will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test and critically appraise the character and worth of the work each person has done.

то буде виявлене діло кожного, бо виявить день, тому що він огнем об'являється, і огонь діло кожного випробує, яке воно є.

14 I f the work which any person has built on this Foundation survives, he will get his reward.

І коли чиє діло, яке збудував хто, устоїть, то той нагороду одержить;

15 B ut if any person’s work is burned up, he will suffer the loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire.

коли ж діло згорить, той матиме шкоду, та сам він спасеться, але так, як через огонь.

16 D o you not discern and understand that you are God’s temple (His sanctuary), and that God’s Spirit has His permanent dwelling in you '> collectively as a church and also individually]?

Чи не знаєте ви, що ви Божий храм, і Дух Божий у вас пробуває?

17 I f anyone does hurt to God’s temple or corrupts it '> with false doctrines] or destroys it, God will do hurt to him and bring him to the corruption of death and destroy him. For the temple of God is holy (sacred to Him) and that you '> the believing church and its individual believers] are.

Як хто нівечить Божого храма, того знівечить Бог, бо храм Божий святий, а храм той то ви!

18 L et no person deceive himself. If anyone among you supposes that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool, that he may become wise.

Хай не зводить ніхто сам себе. Як кому з вас здається, що він мудрий в цім віці, нехай стане нерозумним, щоб бути премудрим.

19 F or this world’s wisdom is foolishness (absurdity and stupidity) with God, for it is written, He lays hold of the wise in their craftiness;

Цьогосвітня бо мудрість у Бога глупота, бо написано: Він ловить премудрих у хитрощах їхніх!

20 A nd again, The Lord knows the thoughts and reasonings of the wise and recognizes how futile they are.

І знову: Знає Господь думки мудрих, що марнотні вони!

21 S o let no one exult proudly concerning men, for all things are yours,

Тож нехай ніхто не хвалиться людьми, бо все ваше:

22 W hether Paul or Apollos or Cephas (Peter), or the universe or life or death, or the immediate and threatening present or the future—all are yours,

чи Павло, чи Аполлос, чи Кифа, чи світ, чи життя, чи смерть, чи теперішнє, чи майбутнє усе ваше,

23 A nd you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s.

ви ж Христові, а Христос Божий!
