1 S o Abram went up out of Egypt, he and his wife and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the South.

І піднявся Аврам із Єгипту, сам, і жінка його, і все, що в нього було, і Лот разом із ним, до Неґеву.

2 N ow Abram was extremely rich in livestock and in silver and in gold.

А Аврам був вельми багатий на худобу, на срібло й на золото.

3 A nd he journeyed on from the South as far as Bethel, to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai,

І пішов він в мандрівки свої від Неґеву аж до Бет-Елу, аж до місця, де напочатку намет його був поміж Бет-Елом і поміж Гаєм,

4 W here he had built an altar at first; and there Abram called on the name of the Lord.

до місця жертівника, що його він зробив там напочатку. І Аврам там прикликав Господнє Ймення.

5 B ut Lot, who went with Abram, also had flocks and herds and tents.

Так само й у Лота, що з Аврамом ходив, дрібна та велика худоба була та намети.

6 N ow the land was not able to nourish and support them so they could dwell together, for their possessions were too great for them to live together.

І не вміщала їх та земля, щоб їм разом пробувати, бо великий був їхній маєток, і не могли вони разом пробувати.

7 A nd there was strife between the herdsmen of Abram’s cattle and the herdsmen of Lot’s cattle. And the Canaanite and the Perizzite were dwelling then in the land.

І сталася сварка поміж пастухами худоби Аврамової та поміж пастухами худоби Лотової. А ханаанеянин та періззеянин сиділи тоді в Краю.

8 S o Abram said to Lot, Let there be no strife, I beg of you, between you and me, or between your herdsmen and my herdsmen, for we are relatives.

І промовив до Лота Аврам: Нехай сварки не буде між мною та між тобою, і поміж пастухами моїми та поміж пастухами твоїми, бо близька ми рідня.

9 I s not the whole land before you? Separate yourself, I beg of you, from me. If you take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if you choose the right hand, then I will go to the left.

Хіба не ввесь Край перед обличчям твоїм? Відділися від мене! Коли підеш ліворуч, то я піду праворуч, а як ти праворуч, то піду я ліворуч.

10 A nd Lot looked and saw that everywhere the Jordan Valley was well watered. Before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt, as you go to Zoar.

І звів Лот свої очі, і побачив усю околицю Йорданську, що наводнена вся вона аж до Цоару, перед тим, як Содом та Гомору був знищив Господь, як Господній, садок, як єгипетський край!

11 T hen Lot chose for himself all the Jordan Valley and traveled east. So they separated.

І Лот вибрав собі всю околицю йорданську. І Лот рушив на схід, і вони розлучилися один від одного.

12 A bram dwelt in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelt in the cities of the Valley and moved his tent as far as Sodom and dwelt there.

Аврам оселився в землі ханаанській, а Лот оселився в рівнинних містах околиці, і наметував аж до Содому.

13 B ut the men of Sodom were wicked and exceedingly great sinners against the Lord.

А люди содомські були дуже злі та грішні перед Господом.

14 T he Lord said to Abram after Lot had left him, Lift up now your eyes and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward;

І промовив Господь до Аврама, коли Лот розлучився із ним: Зведи очі свої, та поглянь із місця, де ти, на північ, і на південь, і на схід, і на захід,

15 F or all the land which you see I will give to you and to your posterity forever.

бо всю цю землю, яку бачиш, Я її дам навіки тобі та потомству твоєму.

16 A nd I will make your descendants like the dust of the earth, so that if a man could count the dust of the earth, then could your descendants also be counted.

І вчиню Я потомство твоє, як той порох землі, так, що коли хто потрапить злічити порох земний, то теж і потомство твоє перелічене буде.

17 A rise, walk through the land, the length of it and the breadth of it, for I will give it to you.

Устань, пройдись по Краю вздовж його та вширшки його, бо тобі його дам!

18 T hen Abram moved his tent and came and dwelt among the oaks or terebinths of Mamre, which are at Hebron, and built there an altar to the Lord.

І Аврам став наметувати, і прибув, і осів між дубами Мамре, що в Хевроні вони. І він збудував там жертівника Господеві.
