1 C oncerning and against the Ammonites: Thus says the Lord: Has Israel no sons ? Has no heir? Why then has Milcom dispossessed and inherited Gad, and his people dwell in Gad’s cities?

На Аммонових синів. Так говорить Господь: Чи немає синів у Ізраїля? Чи немає спадкоємця в нього? Чому Ґада Мілком одідичив й осівся народ його по містах його?

2 T herefore behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will cause an alarm of war to be heard against Rabbah of the Ammonites; and it will become a desolate heap, and its daughter will be burned with fire. Then will Israel dispossess those who dispossessed him, says the Lord.

Тому настають ось дні, говорить Господь, і Я розголошу крик військовий на Раббу Аммонових синів, і вона стане за купу руїн, а підлеглі міста її спалені будуть огнем, і знов одідичить Ізраїль спадок свій, говорить Господь.

3 W ail, O Heshbon, for Ai is laid waste! Cry out, you daughter of Rabbah! Gird yourselves with sackcloth, lament, and run to and fro inside the enclosures; for Milcom shall go into exile, together with his priests and his princes.

Ридай, о Хешбоне, бо місто зруйноване! Кричіть, дочки Рабби, опережіться веретою, лементуйте й блукайте по обійстях, бо Мілком до полону іде, його священики й його зверхники разом!

4 W hy do you boast of your valleys? Your valley flows away, O rebellious and faithless daughter, who trusted in her treasures, who said, Who can come against me?

Чого ти долинами хвалишся? Долина твоя розпливається кров'ю, о дочко невірна, що на скарби свої покладаєш надію та кажеш: Хто прийде до мене?

5 B ehold, I will bring terror upon you, says the Lord, the Lord of hosts, from all who are round about you; and you will be driven out, each man fleeing straight before him, and there will be no one to gather together the fugitives.

Ось Я страх припроваджу на тебе, говорить Господь, Бог Саваот, із усього довкілля твого, і ви повтікаєте кожен наперед себе, і не буде кому втікачів позбирати!...

6 A nd afterward I will reverse the captivity of the children of Ammon and restore their fortunes, says the Lord.

А потім верну Я долю Аммонових синів, говорить Господь.

7 C oncerning and against Edom: Thus says the Lord of hosts: Is there no longer wisdom in Teman ? Has counsel vanished from the intelligent and prudent? Is their wisdom all poured out and used up?

На Едома. Так говорить Господь Саваот: Чи в Темані немає вже мудрости? Чи згинула рада розумних? Хіба зіпсувалась їхня мудрість?

8 F lee, turn back, dwell deep, O inhabitants of Dedan! For I will bring the calamity and destruction of Esau upon him when I inspect and punish him.

Утікайте, оберніться плечима, сядьте глибше, мешканці Дедану, бо привів Я нещастя Ісава на нього, той час, коли покараю його!

9 I f grape gatherers came to you, would they not leave some ungleaned grapes? If thieves came by night, would they not destroy only what is enough ?

Якщо прийдуть до тебе збирачі винограду, вони не полишать останків, якщо ж прийдуть злодії вночі, напсують, скільки схочуть.

10 B ut I have stripped Esau (Edom) bare; I have uncovered his hiding places, and he cannot hide himself. His offspring will be destroyed, with his brethren and his neighbors; and he will be no more.

Бо обнажив Я Ісава, повідкривав усі криївки його, і він сховатись не зможе, спустошене буде насіння його, й його браття, і сусіди його, і не буде його!

11 L eave your fatherless children; I will preserve them alive. And let your widows trust and confide in Me.

Залиши свої сироти, Я утримаю їх при житті, а вдови твої хай надію на Мене кладуть!

12 F or thus says the Lord: Behold, they whose rule was not to drink the cup shall assuredly drink—and are you to remain unpunished? You shall not go unpunished, but you shall surely drink.

Бо так промовляє Господь: Ось і ті, що не мали б пити чаші цієї, пити будуть напевне, а ти непокараним будеш? Не будеш без кари, бо справді ти питимеш чашу!

13 F or I have sworn by Myself, says the Lord, that Bozrah shall become a horror, a reproach, a waste, and a curse; and all its cities shall be perpetual wastes.

Бо Собою присяг Я, говорить Господь, що Боцра за спустошення стане, за ганьбу, пустиню й прокляття, і руїнами вічними стануть міста її всі!

14 I have heard a report from the Lord, and a messenger is sent to the nations, saying, Gather together and come against her! And rise up for the battle.

Я звістку від Господа чув, і відправлений вісник між люди: Зберіться й прийдіть проти неї, і встаньте на бій,

15 F or, behold, I will make you small among the nations and despised among men.

бо тебе Я зробив ось малим між народами, погордженим серед людей!

16 Y our horror (your idol) has deceived you, and the pride of your heart, O you who dwell in the clefts of the rock '> Petra], who hold and occupy the height of the hill. Though you make your nest as high as the eagle’s, I will bring you down from there, says the Lord.

Страхіття твоє обманило тебе й гордість серця твого, тебе, що в розщілинах скелі живеш, що високих підгірків тримаєшся. Та коли б ти кубло своє й високо звив, мов орел, то й ізвідти Я скину тебе, промовляє Господь.

17 A nd Edom shall be an astonishment and a horror; everyone who goes by it shall be astonished and shall hiss with horror at all its plagues and disasters.

І стане Едом за страхіття, кожен, хто буде проходити ним, остовпіє й засвище, як порази його всі побачить...

18 A s in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighboring cities, says the Lord, no man shall dwell there; neither shall a son of man live in it temporarily.

Як Содом та Гоморру й сусідів її поруйновано, каже Господь, так ніхто там не буде сидіти, і не буде в нім мешкати чужинцем син людський.

19 S ee, there comes up one like a lion from the jungles (the pride) of the Jordan against the strong habitation and into the permanent pastures; for in a twinkling I will drive him from there. And I will appoint over him the one whom I choose. For who is like Me? And who will appoint for Me the time and prosecute Me for this proceeding? And what shepherd can stand before Me and defy Me?

Ось підійметься він, немов лев, із темного лісу Йордану на водяні луки, і Я вмент зроблю, що він побіжить геть від них, а хто вибраний буде, того Я поставлю над ними. Бо хто є подібний Мені, і хто покличе Мене перед суд, і хто пастир такий, що перед обличчям Моїм устоїть?

20 T herefore hear the plan of the Lord which He has made against Edom, and His purposes which He has formed against the inhabitants of Teman: Surely they shall be dragged away, even the little ones of the flock; surely He shall make their habitation desolate because of them and their fold shocked at their fate.

Тому то послухайте задум Господній, що Він на Едома задумав, і думки Його ті, які Він на мешканців Теману замислив: Направду, найменших з отари потягнуть, і попустошать пасовисько їхнє при них!

21 A t the sound of their fall the earth shall tremble; at their crying the sound shall be heard at the Red Sea.

Від гуку упадку їхнього буде тремтіти земля, буде зойк, аж на морі Червоному чути їхній голос.

22 B ehold, one will come up and fly swiftly like an eagle and spread his wings against Bozrah; and in that day the hearts of the mighty warriors of Edom will be like the heart of a woman in her pangs.

Ось підійметься він, як орел, і літатиме, й крила свої над Боцрою розгорне: і стане серце хоробрих едомлян в той день, немов серце жони-породіллі...

23 C oncerning and against Damascus: Hamath and Arpad are confounded and put to shame, for they have heard bad news; they are fainthearted and wasting away; there is trouble and anxiety on a sea which cannot rest.

На Дамаск. Засоромивсь Хамаш та Арпад, бо злу звістку почули; в неспокої тривожнім вони, як те море, що не може вспокоїтись.

24 D amascus has become feeble; she has turned to flee, and terror and panic have seized her; anguish and sorrow have taken hold of her, like a woman in childbirth.

Дамаск сторопів, обернувся втікати, і страх його міцно охопив, біль та муки його обгорнули, немов породіллю...

25 H ow the renowned city is not deserted, the city of my joy!.

Як спорожніло славне це місто, місто втіхи Моєї!

26 T herefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all her soldiers shall be destroyed in that day, says the Lord of hosts.

Тому юнаки його падати будуть на площах його, і всі військові погинуть того дня, говорить Господь Саваот.

27 A nd I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it will consume the palaces of Ben-hadad.

І під муром Дамаску огонь запалю, і він пожере Бен-Гададські палаци!...

28 C oncerning Kedar and concerning the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon shall smite: Thus says the Lord: Arise, go up against Kedar and destroy the sons of the east.

На Кедар та на царства Хацору, що їх побив Навуходоносор, цар вавилонський. Так говорить Господь: Уставайте, ідіть на Кедар, і нехай попустошать війська синів сходу!

29 T heir tents and their flocks shall they take—their tent hangings and all their utensils and their camels. And men shall cry to them, Terror on every side!

Заберуть їхні намети та їхню отару, їхні покрови та всі їхні речі, та їхніх верблюдів собі заберуть, і над ними кричатимуть: Жах звідусіль!

30 F lee, wander far off, dwell deep, O you inhabitants of Hazor says the Lord, for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon has planned a course against you and has conceived a purpose against you.

Утікайте, мандруйте скоріш, сховайтесь в глибоке, мешканці Хацору, говорить Господь, бо раду нарадив на вас Навуходоносор, цар вавилонський, і задум задумав на вас!

31 A rise, get up into a nation which is at ease, which dwells without care, says the Lord, which has neither gates nor bars, which dwells apart and alone.

Уставайте, ідіть на народ, що спокійно, безпечно живе, промовляє Господь, немає воріт, і нема в нього засувів, самітно живуть.

32 A nd their camels will be booty, and their herds of cattle a spoil; and I will scatter to all winds those who clip off the corners of their hair, and I will bring their calamity from every side, says the Lord.

І стануть верблюди їхні здобиччю, а їхні череда грабежем, і на всі вітри розвію Я їх, хто волосся довкола стриже, і зо всіх їхніх сторін припроваджу на них їхню погибіль, говорить Господь...

33 A nd Hazor shall become a dwelling place of jackals, a desolation forever; no man shall dwell there; neither shall a son of man live in it temporarily.

І стане Хацор за мешкання шакалів, за вічне спустошення, не замешкає там людина, і син людський не спиниться в ньому!...

34 T he word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning and against Elam, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying,

Слово Господнє, що було пророкові Єремії на Елам на початку царювання Седекії, Юдиного царя, таке:

35 T hus says the Lord of hosts: Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the chief of their strength.

Так говорить Господь Саваот: Ось Я зламаю еламського лука, головну їхню силу!

36 A nd upon Elam will I bring the four winds from the four corners of heaven; and I will scatter them toward all those winds, and there will be no nation to which the outcasts of Elam will not come.

І з чотирьох кінців неба спроваджу чотири вітри до Еламу, і їх розпорошу на всі ці вітри, і не буде такого народу, куди б не прийшли ці вигнанці з Еламу...

37 A nd I will cause Elam to be dismayed and terrified before their enemies and before those who seek and demand their lives; and I will bring evil and disaster upon them, even My fierce anger, says the Lord. And I will send the sword after them until I have consumed them.

І настрашу Елам перед їхніми ворогами та перед всіма, хто їхню душу шукає, і лихо на них наведу, лютість гніву Мого, говорить Господь, і пошлю Я за ними меча, аж поки не вигублю їх!

38 A nd I will set My throne in Elam; and I will destroy from their king and princes, says the Lord.

І поставлю Престола Свого в Еламі, і вигублю звідти царя й його зверхників, каже Господь...

39 B ut it shall be in the latter days (the end of days) that I will reverse the captivity and restore the fortunes of Elam, says the Lord.

Але буде наприкінці днів, поверну Я Еламові долю, говорить Господь.
