1 T hey came to the other side of the sea to the region of the Gerasenes.

І на другий бік моря вони прибули, до землі Гадаринської.

2 A nd as soon as He got out of the boat, there met Him out of the tombs a man of an unclean spirit.

І як вийшов Він із човна, то зараз Його перестрів чоловік із могильних печер, що мав духа нечистого.

3 T his man continually lived among the tombs, and no one could subdue him any more, even with a chain;

Він мешкання мав у гробах, і ніхто й ланцюгами зв'язати не міг його,

4 F or he had been bound often with shackles for the feet and handcuffs, but the handcuffs of chains he wrenched apart, and the shackles he rubbed and ground together and broke in pieces; and no one had strength enough to restrain or tame him.

бо часто кайданами та ланцюгами в'язали його, але він розривав ланцюги та кайдани торощив, і ніхто не міг угамувати його.

5 N ight and day among the tombs and on the mountains he was always shrieking and screaming and beating and bruising and cutting himself with stones.

І він повсякчас перебував день і ніч у гробах та в горах, і кричав, і бився об каміння...

6 A nd when from a distance he saw Jesus, he ran and fell on his knees before Him in homage,

А коли він Ісуса побачив здалека, то прибіг, і вклонився Йому,

7 A nd crying out with a loud voice, he said, What have You to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I solemnly implore you by God, do not begin to torment me!

і закричав гучним голосом, кажучи: Що до мене Тобі, Ісусе, Сину Бога Всевишнього? Богом Тебе заклинаю, не муч Ти мене!

8 F or Jesus was commanding, Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!

Бо сказав Він йому: Вийди, душе нечистий, із людини!

9 A nd He asked him, What is your name? He replied, My name is Legion, for we are many.

І запитав Він його: Як тобі на ім'я? А той відповів: Леґіон мені ймення багато бо нас.

10 A nd he kept begging Him urgently not to send them away out of that region.

І він Його дуже просив, щоб їх не висилав із тієї землі.

11 N ow a great herd of hogs was grazing there on the hillside.

Пасся ж там на горі гурт великий свиней.

12 A nd the demons begged Him, saying, Send us to the hogs, that we may go into them!

І просилися демони, кажучи: Пошли нас у свиней, щоб у них ми ввійшли.

13 S o He gave them permission. And the unclean spirits came out and entered into the hogs; and the herd, numbering about 2, 000, rushed headlong down the steep slope into the sea and were drowned in the sea.

І дозволив Він їм. І повиходили духи нечисті, і в свиней увійшли. І гурт кинувся з кручі до моря, а було зо дві тисячі їх і вони потопилися в морі...

14 T he hog feeders ran away, and told in the town and in the country. And came to see what it was that had taken place.

А їхні пастухи повтікали та в місті й по селах звістили. І повиходили люди побачити, що сталось.

15 A nd they came to Jesus and looked intently and searchingly at the man who had been a demoniac, sitting there, clothed and in his right mind, who had had the legion; and they were seized with alarm and struck with fear.

І прийшли до Ісуса й побачили, що той біснуватий, що мав леґіона, убраний сидів, і при умі, і полякались вони...

16 A nd those who had seen it related in full what had happened to the man possessed by demons and to the hogs.

Самовидці ж їм розповіли, що сталося з тим біснуватим, також про свиней.

17 A nd they began to beg to leave their neighborhood.

І вони стали благати Його, щоб пішов Собі з їхнього краю.

18 A nd when He had stepped into the boat, the man who had been controlled by the unclean spirits kept begging Him that he might be with Him.

А як Він сів до човна, то біснуватий став просити Його, щоб залишитися з Ним.

19 B ut Jesus refused to permit him, but said to him, Go home to your own and bring back word to them of how much the Lord has done for you, and had sympathy for you and mercy on you.

Ісус же йому не дозволив, а промовив до нього: Іди до дому свого, до своїх, і їм розповіж, які речі великі Господь учинив тобі, і як змилувався над тобою!

20 A nd he departed and began to publicly proclaim in Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him, and all the people were astonished and marveled.

І пішов він та в Десятимісті зачав проповідувати, які речі великі Ісус учинив йому. І всі дивувались!

21 A nd when Jesus had recrossed in the boat to the other side, a great throng gathered about Him, and He was at the lakeshore.

І коли переплив Ісус човном на той бік ізнов, то до Нього зібралось багато народу. І був Він над морем.

22 T hen one of the rulers of the synagogue came up, Jairus by name; and seeing Him, he prostrated himself at His feet

І приходить один із старших синагоги, на ймення Яір, і, як побачив Його, припадає до ніг Йому,

23 A nd begged Him earnestly, saying, My little daughter is at the point of death. Come and lay Your hands on her, so that she may be healed and live.

і дуже благає Його та говорить: Моя дочка кінчається. Прийди ж, поклади Свої руки на неї, щоб видужала та жила!...

24 A nd Jesus went with him; and a great crowd kept following Him and pressed Him from all sides.

І пішов Він із ним. За Ним натовп великий ішов, і тиснувсь до Нього.

25 A nd there was a woman who had had a flow of blood for twelve years,

А жінка одна, що дванадцять років хворою на кровотечу була,

26 A nd who had endured much suffering under many physicians and had spent all that she had, and was no better but instead grew worse.

що чимало натерпілася від багатьох лікарів, і витратила все добро своє, та ніякої помочі з того не мала, а прийшла ще до гіршого,

27 S he had heard the reports concerning Jesus, and she came up behind Him in the throng and touched His garment,

як зачула вона про Ісуса, підійшла через натовп іззаду, і доторкнулась до одежі Його...

28 F or she kept saying, If I only touch His garments, I shall be restored to health.

Бо вона говорила про себе: Коли хоч доторкнусь до одежі Його, то одужаю...

29 A nd immediately her flow of blood was dried up at the source, and '> suddenly] she felt in her body that she was healed of her '> distressing] ailment.

І висохло хвилі тієї джерело кровотечі її, і тілом відчула вона, що видужала від недуги!

30 A nd Jesus, recognizing in Himself that the power proceeding from Him had gone forth, turned around immediately in the crowd and said, Who touched My clothes?

І в ту мить Ісус вичув у Собі, що вийшла з Нього сила. І Він до народу звернувся й спитав: Хто доторкнувсь до Моєї одежі?

31 A nd the disciples kept saying to Him, You see the crowd pressing hard around You from all sides, and You ask, Who touched Me?

І відказали Йому Його учні: Ти бачиш, що тисне на Тебе народ, а питаєшся: Хто доторкнувся до Мене?

32 S till He kept looking around to see her who had done it.

А Він навкруги поглядав, щоб побачити ту, що зробила оце.

33 B ut the woman, knowing what had been done for her, though alarmed and frightened and trembling, fell down before Him and told Him the whole truth.

І жінка злякалась та затрусилась, бо знала, що сталося їй. І вона підійшла, і впала ницьма перед Ним, і всю правду Йому розповіла...

34 A nd He said to her, Daughter, your faith (your trust and confidence in Me, springing from faith in God) has restored you to health. Go in (into) peace and be continually healed and freed from your '> distressing bodily] disease.

А Він їй сказав: Твоя віра, о дочко, спасла тебе; іди з миром, і здоровою будь від своєї недуги!

35 W hile He was still speaking, there came some from the ruler’s house, who said, Your daughter has died. Why bother and distress the Teacher any further?

Як Він ще говорив, приходять ось від старшини синагоги та й кажуть: Дочка твоя вмерла; чого ще турбуєш Учителя?...

36 O verhearing but ignoring what they said, Jesus said to the ruler of the synagogue, Do not be seized with alarm and struck with fear; only keep on believing.

А Ісус, як почув слово сказане, промовляє до старшини синагоги: Не лякайсь, тільки віруй!

37 A nd He permitted no one to accompany Him except Peter and James and John the brother of James.

І Він не дозволив іти за Собою нікому, тільки Петрові та Якову, та Іванові, братові Якова.

38 W hen they arrived at the house of the ruler of the synagogue, He looked at tumult and the people weeping and wailing loudly.

І приходять у дім старшини синагоги, і Він бачить метушню та людей, що плакали та голосили.

39 A nd when He had gone in, He said to them, Why do you make an uproar and weep? The little girl is not dead but is sleeping.

А ввійшовши, сказав Він до них: Чого ви метушитеся та плачете? Не вмерло дівча, але спить!

40 A nd they laughed and jeered at Him. But He put them all out, and, taking the child’s father and mother and those who were with Him, He went in where the little girl was lying.

І вони насміхалися з Нього. А Він усіх випровадив, узяв батька дівчати та матір, та тих, хто був із Ним, і ввійшов, де лежало дівча.

41 G ripping her by the hand, He said to her, Talitha cumi—which translated is, Little girl, I say to you, arise '> from the sleep of death]!

І взяв Він за руку дівча та й промовив до нього: Таліта, кумі що значить: Дівчатко, кажу тобі встань!

42 A nd instantly the girl got up and started walking around—for she was twelve years old. And they were utterly astonished and overcome with amazement.

І в ту мить підвелося й ходило дівча; а років мало з дванадцять. І всі зараз жахнулися з дива великого!...

43 A nd He strictly commanded and warned them that no one should know this, and He '> expressly] told them to give her to eat.

А Він наказав їм суворо, щоб ніхто не довідавсь про це. І дати їй їсти звелів.
