1 A nd left there and went to the region of Judea and beyond the Jordan; and crowds gathered around Him again, and as was His custom, He began to teach them again.

І, вийшовши звідти, Він приходить у землю Юдейську, на той бік Йордану. І знову зібралися юрби до Нього, і знов Він навчав їх, звичаєм Своїм.

2 A nd some Pharisees came up, and, in order to test Him and try to find a weakness in Him, asked, Is it lawful for a man to dismiss and repudiate and divorce his wife?

І підійшли фарисеї й спитали, Його випробовуючи: Чи дозволено чоловікові дружину свою відпустити?

3 H e answered them, What did Moses command you?

А Він відповів і сказав їм: Що Мойсей заповів вам?

4 T hey replied, Moses allowed a man to write a bill of divorce and to put her away.

Вони ж відказали: Мойсей заповів написати листа розводового, та й відпустити.

5 B ut Jesus said to them, Because of your hardness of heart '> your condition of insensibility to the call of God] he wrote you this precept in your Law.

Ісус же промовив до них: То за ваше жорстокосердя він вам написав оцю заповідь.

6 B ut from the beginning of creation God made them male and female.

Бог же з початку творіння створив чоловіком і жінкою їх.

7 F or this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother and be joined to his wife and cleave closely to her permanently,

Покине тому чоловік свого батька та матір,

8 A nd the two shall become one flesh, so that they are no longer two, but one flesh.

і стануть обоє вони одним тілом, тим то немає вже двох, але одне тіло.

9 W hat therefore God has united (joined together), let not man separate or divide.

Тож, що Бог спарував, людина нехай не розлучує!

10 A nd indoors the disciples questioned Him again about this subject.

А вдома про це учні знов запитали Його.

11 A nd He said to them, Whoever dismisses (repudiates and divorces) his wife and marries another commits adultery against her;

І Він їм відказав: Хто дружину відпустить свою, та й одружиться з іншою, той чинить перелюб із нею.

12 A nd if a woman dismisses (repudiates and divorces) her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.

І коли дружина покине свого чоловіка, і вийде заміж за іншого, то чинить перелюб вона.

13 A nd they kept bringing young children to Him that He might touch them, and the disciples were reproving them.

Тоді поприносили діток до Нього, щоб Він доторкнувся до них, учні ж їм докоряли.

14 B ut when Jesus saw, He was indignant and pained and said to them, Allow the children to come to Me—do not forbid or prevent or hinder them—for to such belongs the kingdom of God.

А коли спостеріг це Ісус, то обурився, та й промовив до них: Пустіть діток до Мене приходити, і не бороніть їм, бо таких Царство Боже!

15 T ruly I tell you, whoever does not receive and accept and welcome the kingdom of God like a little child positively shall not enter it at all.

Поправді кажу вам: Хто Божого Царства не прийме, немов те дитя, той у нього не ввійде.

16 A nd He took them '> one by one] in His arms and '> fervently invoked a] blessing, placing His hands upon them.

І Він їх пригорнув, і поблагословив, на них руки поклавши.

17 A nd as He was setting out on His journey, a man ran up and knelt before Him and asked Him, Teacher, '> essentially and perfectly morally] good, what must I do to inherit eternal life '> to partake of eternal salvation in the Messiah’s kingdom]?

І коли вирушав Він у путь, то швидко наблизивсь один, упав перед Ним на коліна, і спитався Його: Учителю Добрий, що робити мені, щоб вічне життя вспадкувати?

18 A nd Jesus said to him, Why do you call Me '> essentially and perfectly morally] good? There is no one '> essentially and perfectly morally] good—except God alone.

Ісус же йому відказав: Чого звеш Мене Добрим? Ніхто не є Добрий, крім Бога Самого.

19 Y ou know the commandments: Do not kill, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not bear false witness, do not defraud, honor your father and mother.

Знаєш заповіді: Не вбивай, не чини перелюбу, не кради, не свідкуй неправдиво, не кривди, шануй свого батька та матір.

20 A nd he replied to Him, Teacher, I have carefully guarded and observed all these and taken care not to violate them from my boyhood.

А він відказав Йому: Учителю, це все виконав я ще змалку.

21 A nd Jesus, looking upon him, loved him, and He said to him, You lack one thing; go and sell all you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come accompany Me '> walking the same road that I walk].

Ісус же поглянув на нього з любов'ю, і промовив йому: Одного бракує тобі: іди, розпродай, що маєш, та вбогим роздай, і матимеш скарб ти на небі! Потому приходь та й іди вслід за Мною, узявши хреста.

22 A t that saying the man’s countenance fell and was gloomy, and he went away grieved and sorrowing, for he was holding great possessions.

А він засмутився тим словом, і пішов, зажурившись, бо великі маєтки він мав!

23 A nd Jesus looked around and said to His disciples, With what difficulty will those who possess wealth and keep on holding it enter the kingdom of God!

І поглянув довкола Ісус, та й сказав Своїм учням: Як тяжко отим, хто має багатство, увійти в Царство Боже!

24 A nd the disciples were amazed and bewildered and perplexed at His words. But Jesus said to them again, Children, how hard it is for those who trust (place their confidence, their sense of safety) in riches to enter the kingdom of God!

І учні жахнулись від слів Його. А Ісус знов у відповідь каже до них: Мої діти, як тяжко отим, хто надію кладе на багатство, увійти в Царство Боже!

25 I t is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.

Верблюдові легше пройти через голчине вушко, ніж багатому в Божеє Царство ввійти!

26 A nd they were shocked and exceedingly astonished, and said to Him and to one another, Then who can be saved?

А вони здивувалися дуже, і казали один до одного: Хто ж тоді може спастися?

27 J esus glanced around at them and said, With men impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God.

Ісус же поглянув на них і промовив: Неможливе це людям, а не Богові. Бо для Бога можливе все!

28 P eter started to say to Him, Behold, we have yielded up and abandoned everything '> joined You as Your disciples, siding with Your party] and accompanied You '> walking the same road that You walk].

А Петро став казати Йому: От усе ми покинули, та й пішли за Тобою слідом.

29 J esus said, Truly I tell you, there is no one who has given up and left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands for My sake and for the Gospel’s

Ісус відказав: Поправді кажу вам: Немає такого, щоб дім полишив, чи братів, чи сестер, або матір, чи батька, або діти, чи поля ради Мене та ради Євангелії,

30 W ho will not receive a hundred times as much now in this time—houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions—and in the age to come, eternal life.

і не одержав би в сто раз більше тепер, цього часу, серед переслідувань, домів, і братів, і сестер, і матерів, і дітей, і піль, а в віці наступному вічне життя.

31 B ut many first will be last, and many last will be first.

І багато-хто з перших стануть останніми, а останні першими.

32 T hey were on the way going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus was walking on in front of them; and they were bewildered and perplexed and greatly astonished, and those following were seized with alarm and were afraid. And He took the Twelve again and began to tell them what was about to happen to Him,

Були ж у дорозі вони, простуючи в Єрусалим. А Ісус ішов попереду них, аж дуже вони дивувались, а ті, що йшли вслід за Ним, боялись. І, взявши знов Дванадцятьох, почав їм розповідати, що з Ним статися має:

33 B ehold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be turned over to the chief priests and the scribes; and they will condemn and sentence Him to death and turn Him over to the Gentiles.

Оце в Єрусалим ми йдемо, і первосвященикам і книжникам виданий буде Син Людський, і засудять на смерть Його, і поганам Його видадуть,

34 A nd they will mock Him and spit on Him, and whip Him and put Him to death; but after three days He will rise again '> from death].

і насміхатися будуть із Нього, і будуть плювати на Нього, і будуть Його бичувати, і вб'ють, але третього дня Він воскресне!

35 A nd James and John, the sons of Zebedee, approached Him and said to Him, Teacher, we desire You to do for us whatever we ask of You.

І підходять до Нього Яків та Іван, сини Зеведеєві, та й кажуть Йому: Учителю, ми хочемо, щоб Ти зробив нам, про що будемо просити Тебе.

36 A nd He replied to them, What do you desire Me to do for you?

А Він їх поспитав: Чого ж хочете, щоб Я вам зробив?

37 A nd they said to Him, Grant that we may sit, one at Your right hand and one at left hand, in Your glory (Your majesty and splendor).

Вони ж відказали Йому: Дай нам, щоб у славі Твоїй ми сиділи праворуч від Тебе один, і ліворуч один!

38 B ut Jesus said to them, You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink or be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?

А Ісус відказав їм: Не знаєте, чого просите. Чи ж можете ви пити чашу, що Я її п'ю, і христитися хрищенням, що Я ним хрищуся?

39 A nd they replied to Him, We are able. And Jesus told them, The cup that I drink you will drink, and you will be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized,

Вони відказали Йому: Можемо. А Ісус їм сказав: Чашу, що Я її п'ю, ви питимете, і хрищенням, що Я ним хрищусь, ви охриститеся.

40 B ut to sit at My right hand or at My left hand is not Mine to give; but for whom it is ordained and prepared.

А сидіти праворуч Мене та ліворуч не Моє це давати, а кому уготовано.

41 A nd when the other ten heard it, they began to be indignant with James and John.

Як почули ж це Десятеро, то обурились на Якова та на Івана.

42 B ut Jesus called them to and said to them, You know that those who are recognized as governing and are supposed to rule the Gentiles (the nations) lord it over them, and their great men exercise authority and dominion over them.

А Ісус їх покликав, і промовив до них: Ви знаєте, що ті, що вважають себе за князів у народів, панують над ними, а їхні вельможі їх тиснуть.

43 B ut this is not to be so among you; instead, whoever desires to be great among you must be your servant,

Не так буде між вами, але хто з вас великим бути хоче, нехай буде він вам за слугу.

44 A nd whoever wishes to be most important and first in rank among you must be slave of all.

А хто з вас бути першим бажає, нехай буде всім за раба.

45 F or even the Son of Man came not to have service rendered to Him, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for ( instead of) many.

Бо Син Людський прийшов не на те, щоб служили Йому, але щоб послужити, і душу Свою дати на викуп за багатьох.

46 T hen they came to Jericho. And as He was leaving Jericho with His disciples and a great crowd, Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, a son of Timaeus, was sitting by the roadside.

І приходять вони в Єрихон. А коли з Єрихону виходив Він разом із Своїми учнями й з безліччю люду, сидів і просив при дорозі сліпий Вартимей, син Тимеїв.

47 A nd when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, saying, Jesus, Son of David, have pity and mercy on me '> now]!

І, прочувши, що то Ісус Назарянин, почав кликати та говорити: Сину Давидів, Ісусе, змилуйся надо мною!

48 A nd many severely censured and reproved him, telling him to keep still, but he kept on shouting out all the more, You Son of David, have pity and mercy on me!

І сварились на нього багато-хто, щоб мовчав, а він іще більше кричав: Сину Давидів, змилуйся надо мною!

49 A nd Jesus stopped and said, Call him. And they called the blind man, telling him, Take courage! Get up! He is calling you.

І спинився Ісус та й сказав: Покличте його! І кличуть сліпого та й кажуть йому: Будь бадьорий, устань, Він кличе тебе.

50 A nd throwing off his outer garment, he leaped up and came to Jesus.

А той скинув плаща свого, і скочив із місця, і прибіг до Ісуса.

51 A nd Jesus said to him, What do you want Me to do for you? And the blind man said to Him, Master, let me receive my sight.

А Ісус відповів і сказав йому: Що ти хочеш, щоб зробив Я тобі? Сліпий же Йому відказав: Учителю, нехай я прозрю!

52 A nd Jesus said to him, Go your way; your faith has healed you. And at once he received his sight and accompanied Jesus on the road.

Ісус же до нього промовив: Іди, твоя віра спасла тебе! І той зараз прозрів, і пішов за Ісусом дорогою.
