1 A nd left there and went to the region of Judea and beyond the Jordan; and crowds gathered around Him again, and as was His custom, He began to teach them again.

Đức Chúa Jêsus từ đó mà đi, qua bờ cõi xứ Giu-đê, bên kia sông Giô-đanh. Đoàn dân đông lại nhóm họp cùng Ngài, Ngài dạy dỗ chúng y như lệ thường.

2 A nd some Pharisees came up, and, in order to test Him and try to find a weakness in Him, asked, Is it lawful for a man to dismiss and repudiate and divorce his wife?

Các người Pha-ri-si bèn đến gần hỏi để thử Ngài rằng: Người nam có phép để vợ mình chăng?

3 H e answered them, What did Moses command you?

Ngài trả lời rằng: Vậy chớ Môi-se dạy các ngươi điều chi?

4 T hey replied, Moses allowed a man to write a bill of divorce and to put her away.

Họ thưa rằng: Môi-se có cho phép viết tờ để và cho phép để vợ.

5 B ut Jesus said to them, Because of your hardness of heart '> your condition of insensibility to the call of God] he wrote you this precept in your Law.

Đức Chúa Jêsus phán rằng: Aáy vì cớ lòng các ngươi cứng cõi, nên người đã truyền mạng nầy cho.

6 B ut from the beginning of creation God made them male and female.

Nhưng từ lúc đầu sáng thế, Đức Chúa Trời làm ra một người nam và một người nữ.

7 F or this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother and be joined to his wife and cleave closely to her permanently,

Vì cớ đó, người nam lìa cha mẹ mình mà dính díu với vợ;

8 A nd the two shall become one flesh, so that they are no longer two, but one flesh.

và hai người cùng nên một thịt mà thôi. Như thế, vợ chồng chẳng phải mà hai nữa, mà chỉ một thịt.

9 W hat therefore God has united (joined together), let not man separate or divide.

Vậy, người ta không nên phân rẽ những kẻ mà Đức Chúa Trời đã phối hiệp.

10 A nd indoors the disciples questioned Him again about this subject.

Khi ở trong nhà, môn đồ lại hỏi Ngài về việc ấy;

11 A nd He said to them, Whoever dismisses (repudiates and divorces) his wife and marries another commits adultery against her;

Ngài phán rằng: Ai để vợ mình mà cưới vợ khác, thì phạm tội tà dâm với người;

12 A nd if a woman dismisses (repudiates and divorces) her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.

còn nếu người đờn bà bỏ chồng mình mà lấy chồng khác, thì cũng phạm tội tà dâm.

13 A nd they kept bringing young children to Him that He might touch them, and the disciples were reproving them.

Người ta đem những con trẻ đến cùng Ngài, đặng Ngài rờ chúng nó; nhưng môn đồ trách những kẻ đem đến.

14 B ut when Jesus saw, He was indignant and pained and said to them, Allow the children to come to Me—do not forbid or prevent or hinder them—for to such belongs the kingdom of God.

Đức Chúa Jêsus thấy vậy, bèn giận mà phán cùng môn đồ rằng: Hãy để con trẻ đến cùng ta, đừng cấm chúng nó; vì nước Đức Chúa Trời thuộc về những kẻ giống như con trẻ ấy.

15 T ruly I tell you, whoever does not receive and accept and welcome the kingdom of God like a little child positively shall not enter it at all.

Quả thật, ta nói cùng các ngươi, ai chẳng nhận lấy nước Đức Chúa Trời như một đứa trẻ, thì chẳng được vào đó bao giờ.

16 A nd He took them '> one by one] in His arms and '> fervently invoked a] blessing, placing His hands upon them.

Ngài lại bồng những đứa trẻ ấy, đặt tay trên chúng nó mà chúc phước cho.

17 A nd as He was setting out on His journey, a man ran up and knelt before Him and asked Him, Teacher, '> essentially and perfectly morally] good, what must I do to inherit eternal life '> to partake of eternal salvation in the Messiah’s kingdom]?

Ngài đang ra đi, có một người chạy lại, quì trước mặt Ngài, mà hỏi rằng: Thưa thầy nhơn lành, tôi phải làm chi cho được hưởng sự sống đời đời?

18 A nd Jesus said to him, Why do you call Me '> essentially and perfectly morally] good? There is no one '> essentially and perfectly morally] good—except God alone.

Đức Chúa Jêsus phán rằng: Sao ngươi gọi ta là nhơn lành? Chỉ có một Đấng nhơn lành, là Đức Chúa Trời.

19 Y ou know the commandments: Do not kill, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not bear false witness, do not defraud, honor your father and mother.

Ngươi biết các điều răn: Đừng phạm tội tà dâm; đừng giết người; đừng trộm cướp; đừng làm chứng dối; đừng làm gian; hãy hiếu kính cha mẹ.

20 A nd he replied to Him, Teacher, I have carefully guarded and observed all these and taken care not to violate them from my boyhood.

Người thưa rằng: Lạy thầy, tôi đã giữ mọi điều đó từ khi còn nhỏ.

21 A nd Jesus, looking upon him, loved him, and He said to him, You lack one thing; go and sell all you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come accompany Me '> walking the same road that I walk].

Đức Chúa Jêsus ngó người mà yêu, nên phán rằng: Nhưng ngươi còn thiếu một điều. Hãy đi, bán hết gia tài mình, đem thí cho kẻ nghèo khổ, chắc sẽ được của báu ở trên trời, rồi hãy đến mà theo ta.

22 A t that saying the man’s countenance fell and was gloomy, and he went away grieved and sorrowing, for he was holding great possessions.

Song nét mặt người nầy rầu rĩ về lời đó, đi ra rất buồn bã, vì có nhiều của lắm.

23 A nd Jesus looked around and said to His disciples, With what difficulty will those who possess wealth and keep on holding it enter the kingdom of God!

Bấy giờ Đức Chúa Jêsus ngó xung quanh mình, mà phán cùng môn đồ rằng: Kẻ giàu vào nước Đức Chúa Trời khó là dường nào!

24 A nd the disciples were amazed and bewildered and perplexed at His words. But Jesus said to them again, Children, how hard it is for those who trust (place their confidence, their sense of safety) in riches to enter the kingdom of God!

Môn đồ lấy mấy lời đó làm lạ. Nhưng Đức Chúa Jêsus lại phán rằng: Hỡi các con, những kẻ cậy sự giàu có vào nước Đức Chúa Trời khó là dường nào!

25 I t is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.

Con lạc đà chui qua lỗ kim còn dễ hơn người giàu vào nước Đức Chúa Trời.

26 A nd they were shocked and exceedingly astonished, and said to Him and to one another, Then who can be saved?

Môn đồ lại càng lấy làm lạ, nói cùng nhau rằng: Vậy thì ai được cứu?

27 J esus glanced around at them and said, With men impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God.

Đức Chúa Jêsus ngó môn đồ mà rằng: Sự đó loài người không thể làm được, nhưng Đức Chúa Trời thì chẳng thế; vì Đức Chúa Trời làm mọi sự được cả.

28 P eter started to say to Him, Behold, we have yielded up and abandoned everything '> joined You as Your disciples, siding with Your party] and accompanied You '> walking the same road that You walk].

Phi -e-rơ liền thưa cùng Ngài rằng: Nầy, chúng tôi đã bỏ hết mà đi theo thầy.

29 J esus said, Truly I tell you, there is no one who has given up and left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands for My sake and for the Gospel’s

Đức Chúa Jêsus đáp rằng: Quả thật, ta nói cùng các ngươi chẳng một người nào vì ta và Tin Lành từ bỏ nhà cửa, anh em, chị em, cha mẹ, con cái, đất ruộng,

30 W ho will not receive a hundred times as much now in this time—houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions—and in the age to come, eternal life.

mà chẳng lãnh được đương bây giờ, trong đời nầy, trăm lần hơn về những nhà cửa, anh em, chị em, mẹ con, đất ruộng, với sự bắt bớ, và sự sống đời đời trong đời sau.

31 B ut many first will be last, and many last will be first.

Nhưng có nhiều kẻ đầu sẽ nên rốt; có kẻ rốt sẽ nên đầu.

32 T hey were on the way going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus was walking on in front of them; and they were bewildered and perplexed and greatly astonished, and those following were seized with alarm and were afraid. And He took the Twelve again and began to tell them what was about to happen to Him,

Đức Chúa Trời và môn đồ đương đi đường lên thành Giê-ru-sa-lem, Ngài thì đi trước; các môn đồ thất kinh, và những người đi theo đều sợ hãi. Ngài lại kèm mười hai sứ đồ đi cùng mình mà phán về những việc phải xảy đến cho mình, rằng:

33 B ehold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be turned over to the chief priests and the scribes; and they will condemn and sentence Him to death and turn Him over to the Gentiles.

Nầy, chúng ta lên thành Giê-ru-sa-lem, Con người sẽ bị nộp cho các thầy tế lễ cả cùng các thầy thông giáo; họ sẽ định Ngài phải bị tử hình và giao Ngài cho dân ngoại.

34 A nd they will mock Him and spit on Him, and whip Him and put Him to death; but after three days He will rise again '> from death].

Người ta sẽ nhạo báng Ngài, nhổ trên Ngài, đánh đập Ngài mà giết đi; sau ba ngày, Ngài sẽ sống lại.

35 A nd James and John, the sons of Zebedee, approached Him and said to Him, Teacher, we desire You to do for us whatever we ask of You.

Bấy giờ, Gia-cơ và Giăng, hai con trai Xê-bê-đê, đến gần Ngài mà thưa rằng: Lạy thầy, chúng tôi muốn thầy làm thành điều chúng tôi sẽ xin.

36 A nd He replied to them, What do you desire Me to do for you?

Ngài hỏi rằng: Các ngươi muốn ta làm chi cho?

37 A nd they said to Him, Grant that we may sit, one at Your right hand and one at left hand, in Your glory (Your majesty and splendor).

Thưa rằng: Khi thầy được vinh hiển, xin cho chúng tôi một đứa ngồi bên hữu, một đứa bên tả.

38 B ut Jesus said to them, You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink or be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?

Nhưng Đức Chúa Trời phán rằng: Các ngươi không biết điều mình xin. Các ngươi có uống được chén ta uống, và chịu được phép báp-tem ta chịu chăng?

39 A nd they replied to Him, We are able. And Jesus told them, The cup that I drink you will drink, and you will be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized,

Thưa rằng: Được. Đức Chúa Jêsus phán rằng: Các ngươi sẽ uống chén ta uống, và sẽ chịu phép báp-tem ta chịu;

40 B ut to sit at My right hand or at My left hand is not Mine to give; but for whom it is ordained and prepared.

nhưng chí như ngồi bên hữu và bên tả ta thì không phải tự ta cho được: ấy là thuộc về người nào mà điều đó đã dành cho.

41 A nd when the other ten heard it, they began to be indignant with James and John.

Mười sứ đồ kia nghe sự xin đó, thì giận Gia-cơ và Giăng.

42 B ut Jesus called them to and said to them, You know that those who are recognized as governing and are supposed to rule the Gentiles (the nations) lord it over them, and their great men exercise authority and dominion over them.

Nhưng Đức Chúa Jêsus gọi họ mà phán rằng: Các ngươi biết những người được tôn làm đầu cai trị các dân ngoại, thì bắt dân phải phục mình, còn các quan lớn thì lấy quyền thế trị dân.

43 B ut this is not to be so among you; instead, whoever desires to be great among you must be your servant,

Song trong các ngươi không như vậy; trái lại hễ ai muốn làm lớn trong các ngươi, thì sẽ làm đầy tớ;

44 A nd whoever wishes to be most important and first in rank among you must be slave of all.

còn ai trong các ngươi muốn làm đầu, thì sẽ làm tôi mọi mọi người.

45 F or even the Son of Man came not to have service rendered to Him, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for ( instead of) many.

Vì Con người đã đến không phải để người ta hầu việc mình, song để hầu việc người ta, và phó sự sống mình làm giá chuộc cho nhiều người.

46 T hen they came to Jericho. And as He was leaving Jericho with His disciples and a great crowd, Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, a son of Timaeus, was sitting by the roadside.

Kế đó, Đức Chúa Jêsus và môn đồ đến thành Giê-ri-cô. Ngài và môn đồ cùng một đoàn dân đông đang từ đó lại đi, thì có một người ăn mày mù tên là Ba-ti-mê, con trai của Ti-mê, ngồi bên đường.

47 A nd when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, saying, Jesus, Son of David, have pity and mercy on me '> now]!

Vì đã nghe nói ấy là Đức Chúa Jêsus, người Na-xa-rét, người vùng la lên mà rằng: Hỡi Đức Chúa Jêsus, con vua Đa-vít, xin thương tôi cùng!

48 A nd many severely censured and reproved him, telling him to keep still, but he kept on shouting out all the more, You Son of David, have pity and mercy on me!

Có nhiều kẻ rầy người, biểu nín đi; song người lại kêu lớn hơn nữa rằng: Hỡi con vua Đa-vít, xin thương tôi cùng!

49 A nd Jesus stopped and said, Call him. And they called the blind man, telling him, Take courage! Get up! He is calling you.

Đức Chúa Jêsus dừng lại, phán rằng: Hãy kêu người đến. Chúng kêu người mù đến, mà nói rằng: Hãy vững lòng, đứng dậy, Ngài gọi ngươi.

50 A nd throwing off his outer garment, he leaped up and came to Jesus.

Người mù bỏ áo ngoài, bước tới đến cùng Đức Chúa Jêsus.

51 A nd Jesus said to him, What do you want Me to do for you? And the blind man said to Him, Master, let me receive my sight.

Đức Chúa Jêsus bèn cất tiếng phán rằng: Ngươi muốn ta làm chi cho ngươi? Người mù thưa rằng: Lạy thầy, xin cho tôi được sáng mắt.

52 A nd Jesus said to him, Go your way; your faith has healed you. And at once he received his sight and accompanied Jesus on the road.

Đức Chúa Jêsus phán: Đi đi, đức tin ngươi đã chữa lành ngươi rồi. (10-53) Tức thì người mù được sáng mắt, và đi theo Đức Chúa Jêsus trên đường.
