3 A poor man who oppresses the poor is like a sweeping rain which leaves no food.

Người nghèo hiếp kẻ khó khăn, Khác nào trận mưa quét sạch thực vật.

4 T hose who forsake the law praise the wicked, but those who keep the law contend with them.

Kẻ bỏ luật pháp ngợi khen kẻ ác; Còn người giữ luật pháp chiến đấu cùng chúng nó.

5 E vil men do not understand justice, but they who crave and seek the Lord understand it fully.

Kẻ buông mình vào sự ác chẳng hiểu sự công bình; Nhưng ai tìm cầu Đức Giê-hô-va hiểu biết mọi sự.

6 B etter is the poor man who walks in his integrity than he who willfully goes in double and wrong ways, though he is rich.

Thà người nghèo khổ ăn ở cách thanh liêm, Còn hơn là kẻ giàu có theo đường tà vạy.

7 W hoever keeps the law is a wise son, but he who is a companion of gluttons and the carousing, self-indulgent, and extravagant shames his father.

Ai giữ luật pháp là con trai khôn ngoan; Còn ai kết bạn với kẻ hoang đàng làm hổ ngươi cho cha mình.

8 H e who by charging excessive interest and who by unjust efforts to get gain increases his material possession gathers it for him who is kind and generous to the poor.

Kẻ nào nhờ lời và sự ăn lời quá phép mà làm cho của cải mình thêm lên, Tất chứa để dành của ấy cho người có lòng thương xót kẻ nghèo khổ.

9 H e who turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination, hateful and revolting.

Người nào xây tai không khứng nghe luật pháp, Lời cầu nguyện người ấy cũng là một sự gớm ghiếc.

10 W hoever leads the upright astray into an evil way, he will himself fall into his own pit, but the blameless will have a goodly inheritance.

Kẻ nào làm cho người ngay thẳng lầm lạc trong đường xấu xa, Chánh kẻ đó sẽ sa vào hố của mình đã đào; Nhưng người trọn vẹn được hưởng phần phước lành.

11 T he rich man is wise in his own eyes and conceit, but the poor man who has understanding will find him out.

Người giàu tự nghĩ mình là khôn ngoan; Nhưng kẻ nghèo có sự thông sáng dò xét người.

12 W hen the righteous triumph, there is great glory and celebration; but when the wicked rise, men hide themselves.

Khi người công bình thắng hơn, thì có sự vinh hiển lớn; Còn lúc kẻ gian ác dấy lên, thì người ta đều đi ẩn trốn.

13 H e who covers his transgressions will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes his sins will obtain mercy.

Người nào giấu tội lỗi mình sẽ không được may mắn; Nhưng ai xưng nó ra và lìa bỏ nó sẽ được thương xót.

14 B lessed (happy, fortunate, and to be envied) is the man who reverently and worshipfully fears at all times, but he who hardens his heart will fall into calamity.

Người nào hằng kính sợ luôn luôn lấy làm có phước thay; Còn ai cứng lòng mình sẽ sa vào tai nạn.

15 L ike a roaring lion or a ravenous and charging bear is a wicked ruler over a poor people.

Một vua gian ác cai trị dân nghèo khổ, Khác nào sư tử gầm hét, và gấu đuổi theo mồi.

16 A ruler who lacks understanding is a great oppressor, but he who hates covetousness and unjust gain shall prolong his days.

Quan trưởng thiếu trí hiểu cũng hà hiếp người ta nhiều; Nhưng người ghét sự hà tiện sẽ được trường thọ.

17 I f a man willfully sheds the blood of a person, he is fleeing to the pit (the grave) and hastening to his own destruction; let no man stop him!

Kẻ mắc tội đổ huyết của người nào Sẽ trốn đến mồ mả; chớ có ai ngăn cản nó!

18 H e who walks uprightly shall be safe, but he who willfully goes in double and wrong ways shall fall in one of them.

Ai ăn ở cách ngay thẳng sẽ được cứu rỗi; Còn ai đi theo hai lối cách cong vạy sẽ sa vào một trong hai lối ấy.

19 H e who cultivates his land will have plenty of bread, but he who follows worthless people and pursuits will have poverty enough.

Kẻ nào cày ruộng mình sẽ ăn bánh no nê; Còn ai theo kẻ biếng nhác sẽ được đầy sự nghèo khổ.

20 A faithful man shall abound with blessings, but he who makes haste to be rich shall not go unpunished.

Người thành thực sẽ được phước lành nhiều; Còn kẻ nào vội làm cho giàu ắt sẽ chẳng khỏi bị phạt.

21 T o have respect of persons and to show partiality is not good, neither is it good that man should transgress for a piece of bread.

Tây vị người lấy làm chẳng tốt; Dầu vì một miếng bánh, người cũng phạm tội.

22 H e who has an evil and covetous eye hastens to be rich and knows not that want will come upon him.

Người nào có mắt tham, vội ham kiếm của cải, Chẳng biết rằng sự thiếu thốn sẽ lâm vào mình nó.

23 H e who rebukes a man shall afterward find more favor than he who flatters with the tongue.

Ai quở trách người nào, về sau sẽ được ơn Hơn là kẻ lấy lưỡi mà dua nịnh.

24 W hoever robs his father or his mother and says, This is no sin—he is in the same class as a destroyer.

Kẻ nào ăn cắp của cha hay mẹ mình, Và nói rằng: Chẳng phải là phạm tội đâu, Kẻ ấy đồng bạn với kẻ phá phách.

25 H e who is of a greedy spirit stirs up strife, but he who puts his trust in the Lord shall be enriched and blessed.

Người nào có lòng kiêu ngạo giục sự tranh cạnh; Nhưng kẻ nào tin cậy Đức Giê-hô-va sẽ được no nê.

26 H e who leans on, trusts in, and is confident of his own mind and heart is a fool, but he who walks in skillful and godly Wisdom shall be delivered.

Kẻ nào tin cậy nơi lòng mình là kẻ ngu muội; Còn ai ăn ở cách khôn ngoan sẽ được cứu rỗi.

27 H e who gives to the poor will not want, but he who hides his eyes will have many a curse.

Ai cho người nghèo sẽ không thiếu thốn; Còn ai xây mắt khỏi đi ắt sẽ bị nhiều sự rủa sả.

28 W hen the wicked rise, men hide themselves; but when they perish, the righteous increase and become many.

Khi kẻ ác dấy lên, người ta đều ẩn trốn; Nhưng khi chúng nó hư mất đi, người công bình bèn thêm nhiều lên.
