1 T he vision of Isaiah son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.

Về đời Ô-xia, Giô-tham, A-cha và Ê-xê-chia, là các vua nước Giu-đa, thì Ê-sai, con trai A-mốt, có sự hiện thấy về nước Giu-đa và thành Giê-ru-sa-lem.

2 H ear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth! For the Lord has spoken: I have nourished and brought up sons and have made them great and exalted, but they have rebelled against Me and broken away from Me.

Hỡi các từng trời, hãy nghe; hỡi đất, hãy lắng tai; vì Đức Giê-hô-va có phán rằng: Ta đã nuôi nấng con cái, trưởng dưỡng chúng nó, song chúng nó dấy loạn nghịch cùng ta.

3 T he ox knows his owner, and the donkey his master’s crib, but Israel does not know or recognize Me, My people do not consider or understand.

Bò biết chủ mình, lừa biết máng của chủ; song Y-sơ-ra-ên chẳng hiểu biết, dân ta chẳng suy nghĩ.

4 A h, sinful nation, a people loaded with iniquity, offspring of evildoers, sons who deal corruptly! They have forsaken the Lord, they have despised and shown contempt and provoked the Holy One of Israel to anger, they have become utterly estranged (alienated).

5 W hy should you be stricken and punished any more ? You will revolt more and more. The whole head is sick, and the whole heart is faint (feeble, sick, and nauseated).

Các ngươi sao còn cứ bạn nghịch, để lại bị đánh nữa? Đầu đều đau đớn cả, lòng đều mòn mỏi cả.

6 F rom the sole of the foot even to the head there is no soundness or health in —but wounds and bruises and fresh and bleeding stripes; they have not been pressed out and closed up or bound up or softened with oil.

Từ bàn chơn cho đến đỉnh đầu, chẳng có chỗ nào lành: rặt những vết thương, vít sưng cùng lằn mới, chưa rịt, chưa quấn, cũng chưa bôi dầu cho êm.

7 y our country lies desolate, your cities are burned with fire; your land—strangers devour it in your very presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by aliens.

Xứ các ngươi là nơi hoang vu, thành các ngươi bị lửa thiêu hủy; dân ngoại nuốt đất đai các ngươi trước mặt các ngươi, hoang vu như bị dân ngoại phá tán.

8 A nd the Daughter of Zion is left like a booth in a vineyard, like a lodge in a garden of cucumbers, like a besieged city.

Con cái Si-ôn bị bỏ lại như lều vườn nho, như chòi ruộng dưa, như thành bị vây.

9 E xcept the Lord of hosts had left us a very small remnant, we should have been like Sodom, and we should have been like Gomorrah.

Ví bằng Đức Giê-hô-va vạn quân chẳng để chúng ta còn sót lại chút đỉnh, thì chúng ta sẽ giống thành Sô-đôm và như thành Gô-mô-rơ vậy!

10 H ear the word of the Lord, you rulers or judges of Sodom! Give ear to the law and the teaching of our God, you people of Gomorrah!

Hỡi các quan trưởng Sô-đôm, hãy nghe lời của Đức Giê-hô-va. Hỡi dân Gô-mô-rơ, hãy để tai vào luật pháp của Đức Chúa Trời chúng ta!

11 T o what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices to Me ? says the Lord. I have had enough of the burnt offerings of rams and the fat of fed beasts; and I do not delight in the blood of bulls or of lambs or of he-goats.

Đức Giê-hô-va phán: Muôn vàn của lễ các ngươi nào có can hệ gì đến ta? Ta đã chán chê của lễ thiêu bằng chiên đực và mỡ của bò con mập. Ta chẳng đẹp lòng về huyết của bò đực, chiên con và dê đực đâu.

12 W hen you come to appear before Me, who requires of you that your trample My courts?

Khi các ngươi đến chầu trước mặt ta, ai khiến các ngươi giày đạp hành lang ta?

13 B ring no more offerings of vanity (emptiness, falsity, vainglory, and futility); incense is an abomination to Me; the New Moons and Sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot endure— iniquity and profanation, even the solemn meeting.

Thôi, đừng dâng của lễ chay vô ích cho ta nữa! Ta gớm ghét mùi hương, ngày trăng mới, ngày sa-bát cùng sự rao nhóm hội; ta chẳng khứng chịu tội ác hội hiệp nơi lễ trọng thể.

14 Y our New Moon festivals and your appointed feasts My soul hates. They are an oppressive burden to Me; I am weary of bearing them.

Thật, lòng ta ghét những ngày trăng mới và kỳ lễ các ngươi, là nặng nề cho ta, ta lấy làm mệt mà gánh lấy.

15 A nd when you spread forth your hands, I will hide My eyes from you; even though you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood!

Vậy nên, khi các ngươi giơ tay, thì ta che mắt khỏi các ngươi. Khi các ngươi cầu nguyện rườn rà, ta chẳng thèm nghe. Tay các ngươi đầy những máu.

16 W ash yourselves, make yourselves clean; put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes! Cease to do evil,

Hãy rửa đi, hãy làm cho sạch! Hãy tránh những việc ác khỏi trước mắt ta. Đừng làm dữ nữa.

17 L earn to do right! Seek justice, relieve the oppressed, and correct the oppressor. Defend the fatherless, plead for the widow.

Hãy học làm lành, tìm kiếm sự công bình; hãy đỡ đần kẻ bị hà hiếp, làm công bình cho kẻ mồ côi, binh vực lẽ của người góa bụa.

18 C ome now, and let us reason together, says the Lord. Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be like wool.

Đức Giê-hô-va phán: Bây giờ hãy đến, cho chúng ta biện luận cùng nhau. Dầu tội các ngươi như hồng điều, sẽ trở nên trắng như tuyết; dầu đỏ như son, sẽ trở nên trắng như lông chiên.

19 I f you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land;

Nếu các ngươi sẵn lòng vâng lời, sẽ ăn được sản vật tốt nhứt của đất.

20 B ut if you refuse and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken it.

Nhược bằng các ngươi chẳng khứng và bạn nghịch, sẽ bị nuốt bởi gươm; vì miệng Đức Giê-hô-va đã phán.

21 H ow the faithful city has become an harlot, she who was full of justice! Uprightness and right standing with God lodged in her—but now murderers.

22 Y our silver has become dross, your wine is mixed with water.

Bạc ngươi biến thành cặn, rượu ngươi pha lộn nước.

23 Y our princes are rebels and companions of thieves; everyone loves bribes and runs after compensation and rewards. They judge not for the fatherless nor defend them, neither does the cause of the widow come to them.

Các quan trưởng của dân ngươi là đồ phản nghịch, làm bạn với kẻ trộm, mỗi người trong chúng đều ưa của hối lộ, đeo đuổi theo tài lợi; chẳng làm công bình cho kẻ mồ côi, vụ kiện của người góa bụa chẳng đến cùng chúng nó.

24 T herefore says the Lord, the Lord of hosts, the Mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will appease Myself on My adversaries and avenge Myself on My enemies.

Vậy nên, Chúa, là Đức Giê-hô-va vạn quân, Đấng Quyền năng của Y-sơ-ra-ên, phán như vầy: O

25 A nd I will bring My hand again upon you and thoroughly purge away your dross and take away all your tin or alloy.

Ta sẽ lại tra tay trên ngươi, làm ta sạch hết cáu cặn ngươi, và bỏ hết chất pha của ngươi.

26 A nd I will restore your judges as at the first, and your counselors as at the beginning; afterward you shall be called the City of Righteousness, the Faithful City.

Ta sẽ lập các quan xét của ngươi như ngày trước, các mưu sĩ của ngươi như lúc đầu. Rồi sau người ta sẽ xưng ngươi là thành công bình, là ấp trung nghĩa.

27 Z ion shall be redeemed with justice, and her converts with righteousness (uprightness and right standing with God).

Si-ôn sẽ được chuộc bởi sự chánh trực, còn kẻ nào trở lại đó thì được chuộc bởi sự công bình.

28 B ut the crushing and destruction of rebels and sinners shall be together, and they who forsake the Lord shall be consumed.

Song những kẻ bạn nghịch và mắc tội sẽ cùng bị hủy diệt, còn kẻ bỏ Đức Giê-hô-va sẽ bị diệt vong.

29 F or you will be ashamed of the oak or terebinth trees in which you found pleasure, and you will blush with shame for the gardens which you have chosen.

Vậy các ngươi sẽ hổ thẹn vì những cây thông mình ưa; mắc cỡ vì những vườn mình đã chọn.

30 F or you shall be like an oak or terebinth whose leaf withers, and like a garden that has no water.

Vì các ngươi sẽ giống như cây thông khô lá, như vườn không nước.

31 A nd the strong shall become like tow and become tinder, and his work like a spark, and they shall both burn together, with none to quench them.

Người mạnh sẽ như bã gai, việc làm của nó như đóm lửa; cả hai sẽ cùng nhau cháy, chẳng có ai giập tắt.
