1 F lee for safety, you children of Benjamin, out of the midst of Jerusalem! And blow the trumpet in Tekoa, and raise a signal over Beth-haccherem! For evil is looking forth with eagerness from the north, and great destruction.

Hỡi con cái Bên-gia-min, hãy trốn khỏi thành Giê-ru-sa-lem để được yên ổn. Hãy thổi kèn tại Thê-cô -a, lên vọi trên Bết-Kê-rem; vì từ phương bắc xảy đến một tai nạn, và sự tàn hại rất lớn.

2 T he comely and delicate one, the Daughter of Zion, I will destroy.

Ta sẽ hủy diệt gái đẹp đẽ yểu điệu của Si-ôn!

3 S hepherds with their flocks shall come against her; they shall pitch their tents round about her; they shall pasture, each one in his place.

Những kẻ chăn cùng bầy chiên mình sẽ đến nghịch cùng nó. Chúng nó đóng trại chung quanh nó, mỗi kẻ choán phần đất mình cho bầy ăn.

4 P repare yourselves for war against her; up, let us attack her at noon! But alas, the day declines, the evening shadows lengthen.

Hãy sửa soạn chiến trận nghịch cùng nó! Hãy đứng lên! hãm đánh vào lúc đứng trưa! Khốn thay! ngày đã xế, bóng chiều đã dài!

5 A rise, let us go by night and destroy her palaces!

Hãy dậy, sấn lên trong lúc ban đêm, hủy diệt cung điện nó!

6 F or the Lord of hosts has said, Hew down her trees and cast up a siege mound against Jerusalem. This is the city which must be punished; there is nothing but oppression within her.

Vì Đức Giê-hô-va vạn quân phán như vầy: Hãy đốn cây và đắp lũy lên nghịch cùng Giê-ru-sa-lem! Kìa là thành phải bị thăm phạt; giữa nó đầy những sự ức hiếp.

7 A s a fountain wells up and casts forth its waters and keeps them fresh, so she is casting forth wickedness. Violence and destruction are heard within her; sickness and wounds are continually before Me.

Như suối văng nước ra thể nào, thì nó cũng văng những điều gian ác ra thể ấy. Sự dữ tợn và hủy phá nghe ra trong nó; bịnh hoạn và thương tích thường ở trước mặt ta.

8 B e corrected, reformed, instructed, and warned, O Jerusalem, lest I be alienated and parted from you, lest I make you a desolation, an uninhabited land.

Hỡi Giê-ru-sa-lem, hãy chịu dạy dỗ, e rằng lòng ta chán bỏ ngươi, mà làm cho đất ngươi hoang vu, không người ở chăng.

9 T hus says the Lord of hosts: They shall thoroughly glean as a vine what is left of Israel; turn back your hand again and again into the baskets, like a grape gatherer, and strip the tendrils.

Đức Giê-hô-va vạn quân phán như vầy: Người ta sẽ lượm hết dân sót của Y-sơ-ra-ên như hái nho. Hãy trở tay mà hái, như người hái nho làm nên nhánh nho vậy.

10 T o whom shall I speak and give warning, that they may hear? Behold, their ears are uncircumcised, and they cannot hear or obey. Behold, the word of the Lord has become to them a reproach and the object of their scorn; they have no delight in it.

Ta sẽ nói và làm chứng cho ai, đặng họ nghe ta! Nầy, tai họ chưa cắt bì, họ không nghe được. Nầy, lời của Đức Giê-hô-va đã trở nên sự quở trách cho họ, họ chẳng lấy làm đẹp lòng chút nào.

11 T herefore I am full of the wrath of the Lord; I am weary of restraining it. I will pour it out on the children in the street and on the gathering of young men together; for even the husband with the wife will be taken, the aged with the very old.

Cho nên ta được đầy cơn giận của Đức Giê-hô-va, mệt vì nín lặng. Hãy đổ nó ra trên con nít ngoài đường phố và trên hội kẻ trai trẻ. Vì chồng với vợ, ông già cũng kẻ lớn tuổi đều sẽ bị bắt.

12 A nd their houses will be turned over to others, their fields and their wives together; for I will stretch out My hand against the inhabitants of the land, says the Lord.

Nhà, ruộng, và vợ của họ sẽ sang qua kẻ khác; vì tay ta sẽ giang ra trên dân cư đất nầy, Đức Giê-hô-va phán vậy.

13 F or from the least of them even to the greatest of them, everyone is given to covetousness (to greed for unjust gain); and from the prophet even to the priest, everyone deals falsely.

Vì trong vòng họ, từ kẻ rất nhỏ cho đến người rất lớn, đều tham lam; từ kẻ tiên tri cho đến thầy tế lễ, đều làm sự giả dối.

14 T hey have healed also the wound of the daughter of My people lightly and neglectfully, saying, Peace, peace, when there is no peace.

Họ rịt vết thương cho dân ta cách sơ sài mà rằng: Bình an! bình an! mà không bình an chi hết.

15 W ere they brought to shame because they had committed abominations (extremely disgusting and vile things)? No, they were not at all ashamed, nor could they blush. Therefore they shall fall among those who fall; at the time that I punish them they shall be overthrown, says the Lord.

Họ phạm tội gớm ghiếc, há lấy làm xấu hổ ư? Họ chẳng xấu hổ chút nào, cũng chẳng thẹn đỏ mặt nữa. Cho nên họ sẽ vấp ngã với những kẻ vấp ngã. Khi ta thăm phạt, chúng nó sẽ bị lật đổ, Đức Giê-hô-va phán vậy.

16 T hus says the Lord: Stand by the roads and look; and ask for the eternal paths, where the good, old way is; then walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk in it!

Đức Giê-hô-va phán như vầy: Hãy đứng trên các đường cái và nhìn xem; tra xét những đường lối cũ, xem thử đường tốt ở đâu: hãy đi đường ấy, thì các ngươi sẽ được sự an nghỉ cho linh hồn mình. Nhưng chúng nó đáp rằng: Chúng tôi không khứng đi đường ấy.

17 A lso I set watchmen over you, saying, Hear and obey the sound of the trumpet! But they said, We will not listen or obey.

Ta đã lập vọng canh kề các ngươi; hãy chăm chỉ nghe tiếng kèn. Nhưng chúng nó đáp rằng: Chúng tôi không khứng nghe.

18 T herefore hear, O nations, and know, O congregation, what to them.

Vì vậy, hỡi các nước, hãy nghe; hỡi hội chúng, hãy biết điều xảy đến giữa chúng nó!

19 H ear, O earth: behold, I am bringing evil upon this people, the fruit of their thoughts (their schemes and devices) because they have not listened and obeyed My words, and as for My law, they have rejected it.

Hỡi đất, hãy nghe: Nầy, ta sẽ khiến tai vạ đến trên dân nầy, tức là quả báo của ý tưởng nó, vì nó chẳng chăm nghe lời ta, và đã bỏ luật pháp ta.

20 T o what purpose does frankincense come to Me from Sheba and the sweet cane from a far country? Your burnt offerings are not acceptable, nor are your sacrifices sweet or pleasing to Me.

Nào ta có cần gì nhũ hương đến từ Sê-ba, xương bồ đến từ xứ xa mà dâng cho ta? Của lễ thiêu của các ngươi chẳng đẹp lòng ta, ta chẳng lấy tế lễ của các ngươi làm vừa ý.

21 T herefore thus says the Lord: Behold, I will lay stumbling blocks before this people. And the fathers and the sons together will stumble against them; the neighbor and his friend will perish.

Vậy nên, Đức Giê-hô-va phán như vầy: Nầy, ta sẽ đặt sự ngăn trở trước mặt dân nầy; cha và con sẽ cùng nhau vấp ngã; xóm riềng bạn hữu đều chết mất.

22 T hus says the Lord: Behold, a people is coming from the north country, and a great nation is arousing itself from the ends of the earth.

Đức Giê-hô-va phán như vầy: Nầy, một dân đến từ xứ phương bắc; một nước lớn dấy lên từ nơi đầu cùng đất.

23 T hey lay hold on bow and spear; they are cruel (ruthless and inhuman) and have no mercy. Their voice sounds like the roaring sea; they ride on horses, every one set in array as a man for battle against you, O Daughter of Zion!

Chúng nó thảy đều cầm cung và giáo, thật là dữ tợn, chẳng có lòng thương xót. Tiếng chúng nó rống lên như biển, họ đều cỡi ngựa; ai nấy sắp hàng như người lính chiến mà nghịch cùng ngươi, hỡi con gái Si-ôn!

24 W e have heard the report of it; our hands become feeble and helpless. Anguish has taken hold of us, pangs like that of a woman in childbirth.

Chúng ta đã nghe tin ấy, tay đều yếu đuối; buồn rầu thảm thiết, cơn quặn thắt như đờn bà đẻ con đã xông vào chúng ta.

25 G o not out into the field nor walk on the road, for the enemy is armed with the sword; terror is on every side.

Chớ ra nơi đồng ruộng, chớ đi trên đường, vì gươm của giặc ở đó, khắp mọi nơi đều có sự kinh hãi.

26 O daughter of my people, gird yourself with sackcloth and wallow in ashes; make mourning as for an only son, a most bitter lamentation, for the destroyer will suddenly come upon us.

Hỡi con gái của dân ta, hãy thắt lưng bằng bao gai, và lăng trong tro bụi. Hãy phát tang như mất con trai một, làm cho nghe tiếng than khóc đắng cay; vì kẻ tàn phá sẽ xông tới trên chúng ta thình lình.

27 I have set you as an assayer and a prover of ore among My people, that you may know and try their doings and be like a watchtower.

Ta đã lập ngươi làm kẻ thử và đồn lũy giữa dân ta, đặng ngươi nhận biết và dò xem đường lối nó.

28 T hey are all the worst of rebels and utter and total revolters against God, going about publishing slander. They are bronze and iron; they are all corrupters.

Chúng nó thảy đều bạn nghịch quá lắm, đi dạo nói xấu, cứng như đồng như sắt, làm những sự bại hoại.

29 T he bellows blow fiercely, the lead is consumed by the fire; in vain do they continue refining, for the wicked are not removed.

30 M en will call them reprobate and rejected silver, because the Lord has rejected them.

Nó sẽ bị gọi là bạc bỏ, vì Đức Giê-hô-va từ bỏ nó.
