1 H elp, Lord! For principled and godly people are here no more; faithfulness and the faithful vanish from among the sons of men.

Đức Giê-hô-va ôi! xin cứu chúng tôi, vì người nhơn đức không còn nữa, Và kẻ thành tín đã mất khỏi giữa con loài người.

2 T o his neighbor each one speaks words without use or worth or truth; with flattering lips and double heart they speak.

Chúng đều dùng lời dối trá mà nói lẫn nhau, Lấy môi dua nịnh và hai lòng, Mà trò chuyện nhau.

3 M ay the Lord cut off all flattering lips and the tongues that speak proud boasting,

Đức Giê-hô-va sẽ diệt hết thảy các môi dua nịnh, Và lưỡi hay nói cách kiêu ngạo;

4 T hose who say, With our tongues we prevail; our lips are our own —who is lord and master over us?

Tức là kẻ nói rằng: Nhờ lưỡi mình chúng ta sẽ được thắng; Môi chúng ta thuộc về chúng ta: Ai là Chúa của chúng ta?

5 N ow will I arise, says the Lord, because the poor are oppressed, because of the groans of the needy; I will set him in safety and in the salvation for which he pants.

Nhơn vì người khốn cùng bị hà hiếp, và kẻ thiếu thốn rên siết, Đức Giê-hô-va phán: Bây giờ ta sẽ chổi dậy, Đặt người tại nơi yên ổn, là nơi người mong muốn.

6 T he words and promises of the Lord are pure words, like silver refined in an earthen furnace, purified seven times over.

Các lời Đức Giê-hô-va là lời trong sạch, Dường như bạc đã thét trong nồi dót bằng gốm, Luyện đến bảy lần.

7 Y ou will keep them and preserve them, O Lord; You will guard and keep us from this generation forever.

Hỡi Đức Giê-hô-va, Ngài sẽ gìn giữ các người khốn cùng, Hằng bảo tồn họ cho khỏi dòng dõi nầy.

8 T he wicked walk or prowl about on every side, as vileness is exalted among the sons of men.

Khi sự hèn mạt được đem cao lên giữa loài người, Thì kẻ ác đi dạo quanh tứ phía.
