1 C omfort, comfort My people, says your God.

Đức Chúa Trời của các ngươi phán rằng: Hãy yên ủi, hãy yên ủi dân ta.

2 S peak tenderly to the heart of Jerusalem, and cry to her that her time of service and her warfare are ended, that her iniquity is pardoned, that she has received from the Lord’s hand double for all her sins.

Hãy nói cho thấu lòng Giê-ru-sa-lem, và rao rằng sự tranh chiến của nó đã trọn; tội lỗi nó đã được tha; nó đã chịu gấp hai từ tay Đức Giê-hô-va vì các tội mình.

3 A voice of one who cries: Prepare in the wilderness the way of the Lord; make straight and smooth in the desert a highway for our God!

Có tiếng kêu rằng: Hãy mở đường trong đồng vắng cho Đức Giê-hô-va; hãy ban bằng đường cái trong đất hoang cho Đức Chúa Trời chúng ta!

4 E very valley shall be lifted and filled up, and every mountain and hill shall be made low; and the crooked and uneven shall be made straight and level, and the rough places a plain.

Mọi nơi sủng thấp sẽ được cao lên; mọi núi mọi gò sẽ bị hạ xuống; các nơi gập ghềnh sẽ làm cho bằng; các nơi dốc hãm sẽ làm thành đồng nội.

5 A nd the glory (majesty and splendor) of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken it.

Bấy giờ sự vinh hiển của Đức Giê-hô-va sẽ hiện ra, và mọi xác thịt đều sẽ xem thấy; vì miệng Đức Giê-hô-va đã phán vậy.

6 A voice says, Cry! And I said, What shall I cry? All flesh is as frail as grass, and all that makes it attractive is transitory, like the flower of the field.

Có tiếng kẻ rằng: Hãy kêu! Và có đáp rằng: Tôi sẽ kêu thế nào? Mọi xác thịt giống như cỏ, nhan sắc nó như hoa ngoài đồng.

7 T he grass withers, the flower fades, when the breath of the Lord blows upon it; surely the people are like grass.

Cỏ khô, hoa rụng, vì hơi Đức Giê-hô-va thổi qua. Phải, dân nầy khác nào cỏ ấy:

8 T he grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.

cỏ khô, hoa rụng; nhưng lời của Đức Chúa Trời chúng ta còn mãi đời đời!

9 O you who bring good tidings to Zion, get up to the high mountain. O you who bring good tidings to Jerusalem, lift up your voice with strength, lift it up, be not afraid; say to the cities of Judah, Behold your God!

Ai rao tin lành cho Si-ôn, hãy lên trên núi cao! Ai rao tin lành cho Giê-ru-sa-lem, hãy ra sức cất tiếng lên! Hãy cất tiếng lên, đừng sợ! Hãy bảo các thành của Giu-đa rằng: Đức Chúa Trời của các ngươi đây!

10 B ehold, the Lord God will come with might, and His arm will rule for Him. Behold, His reward is with Him, and His recompense before Him.

Nầy, Chúa Giê-hô-va sẽ lấy quyền năng mà đến; Ngài dùng cánh tay mình và cai trị. Nầy, sự ban thưởng Ngài ở nơi Ngài, sự báo trả Ngài ở trước mặt Ngài.

11 H e will feed His flock like a shepherd: He will gather the lambs in His arm, He will carry them in His bosom and will gently lead those that have their young.

Ngài sẽ chăn bầy mình như người chăn chiên; thâu các con chiên con vào cánh tay mình và ẳm vào lòng; từ từ dắt các chiên cái đương cho bú.

12 W ho has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, marked off the heavens with a span, enclosed the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales and the hills in a balance?

Ai đã lấy lòng bàn tay mà lường biển, lấy gang tay mà đo các từng trời? Ai đã lấy đấu mà đong bụi đất? Ai đã dùng cân mà cân núi, và dùng thăng bằng mà cân gò?

13 W ho has directed the Spirit of the Lord, or as His counselor has taught Him?

Ai lường được Thần của Đức Chúa Trời, và làm mưu sĩ Ngài, đặng dạy Ngài điều gì?

14 W ith whom did He take counsel, that instruction might be given Him? Who taught Him the path of justice and taught Him knowledge and showed Him the way of understanding?

Nào Ngài đã bàn luận với ai? Ai đã dạy khôn cho Ngài và dạy Ngài đường công nghĩa? Nào ai đã đem sự thông biết dạy Ngài và chỉ cho Ngài lối khôn ngoan?

15 B ehold, the nations are like a drop from a bucket and are counted as small dust on the scales; behold, He takes up the isles like a very little thing.

Kìa, các dân tộc khác nào một giọt nước nhỏ trong thùng, và kể như là một mảy bụi rơi trên cân; nầy, Ngài giở các cù lao lên như đồi vật nhỏ.

16 A nd all Lebanon’s cannot supply sufficient fuel, nor all its wild beasts furnish victims enough to burn sacrifices.

Rừng Li-ban chẳng đủ đốt lửa, những thú vật ở đó chẳng đủ làm của lễ thiêu.

17 A ll the nations are as nothing before Him; they are regarded by Him as less than nothing and emptiness (waste, futility, and worthlessness).

Mọi dân tộc ở trước mặt Đức Giê-hô-va thảy đều như không, Ngài xem như trống không và hư vô vậy.

18 T o whom then will you liken God? Or with what likeness will you compare Him?

Vậy thì các ngươi có thể vì Đức Chúa Trời với ai, lấy ảnh tượng nào mà so sánh với Ngài được?

19 T he graven image! A workman casts it, and a goldsmith overlays it with gold and casts silver chains for it.

Khi người thợ đúc tượng, thì thợ bạc lấy vàng mà bọc, và đúc cho những cái dây chuyền bằng bạc.

20 H e who is so impoverished that he has no offering or oblation or rich gift to give chooses a tree that will not rot; he seeks out a skillful craftsman to carve and set up an image that will not totter or deteriorate.

Kẻ nghèo không dâng nổi vật đó, thì chọn gỗ không mục được, và tìn thợ khéo đặng trổ một tượng không lay đổ.

21 D o you not know? Have you not heard? Has it not been told you from the beginning? Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth?

Các ngươi không biết sao? Vậy thì các ngươi không nghe sao? Người ta há chưa dạy cho các ngươi từ lúc ban đầu? Các ngươi há chẳng hiểu từ khi dựng nền đất?

22 I t is God Who sits above the circle (the horizon) of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers; it is He Who stretches out the heavens like curtains and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in,

Aáy là Đấng ngự trên vòng trái đất nầy, các dân cư trên đất như cào cào vậy. Chính Ngài là Đấng giương các từng trời ra như cái màn, và giương ra như trại để ở.

23 W ho brings dignitaries to nothing, Who makes the judges and rulers of the earth as chaos (emptiness, falsity, and futility).

Chính Ngài là Đấng làm tiêu diệt các quan trưởng và làm cho các quan xét trên đất ra hư không.

24 Y es, these men are scarcely planted, scarcely are they sown, scarcely does their stock take root in the earth, when blows upon them and they wither, and the whirlwind or tempest takes them away like stubble.

Họ mới trồng, mới gieo, cây mới châm rễ trong đất, hơi Đức Giê-hô-va thổi qua, thì khô héo; nầy, gió lốc đùa hết đi như rơm rác.

25 T o whom then will you liken Me, that I should be equal to him? says the Holy One.

Đấng Thánh phán rằng: Vậy thì các ngươi sánh ta cùng ai? Ai sẽ bằng ta?

26 L ift up your eyes on high and see! Who has created these? He Who brings out their host by number and calls them all by name; through the greatness of His might and because He is strong in power, not one is missing or lacks anything.

Hãy ngước mắt lên cao mà xem: Ai đã tạo những vật nầy? Aáy là Đấng khiến các cơ binh ra theo số nó, và đặt tên hết thảy; chẳng một vật nào thiếu, vì sức mạnh Ngài lớn lắm, và quyền năng Ngài rất cao.

27 W hy, O Jacob, do you say, and declare, O Israel, My way and my lot are hidden from the Lord, and my right is passed over without regard from my God?

Vậy thì, hỡi Gia-cốp, sao ngươi nói, hãy Y-sơ-ra-ên, sao ngươi nói như vầy: Đường tôi đã khuất khỏi Đức Giê-hô-va, lý đoán tôi qua khỏi Đức Chúa Trời tôi?

28 H ave you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, does not faint or grow weary; there is no searching of His understanding.

Ngươi không biết sao, không nghe sao? Đức Chúa Trời hằng sống, là Đức Giê-hô-va, là Đấng đã dựng nên các đầu cùng đất, chẳng mỏi chẳng mệt; sự khôn ngoan Ngài không thể dò.

29 H e gives power to the faint and weary, and to him who has no might He increases strength.

Ngài ban sức mạnh cho kẻ nhọc nhằn, thêm lực lượng cho kẻ chẳng có sức.

30 E ven youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall feebly stumble and fall exhausted;

Những kẻ trai trẻ cũng phải mòn mỏi mệt nhọc, người trai tráng cũng phải vấp ngã.

31 B ut those who wait for the Lord shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up as eagles; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.

Nhưng ai trông đợi Đức Giê-hô-va thì chắc được sức mới, cất cánh bay cao như chim ưng; chạy mà không mệt nhọc, đi mà không mòn mỏi.
