1 I am the man who has seen affliction under the rod of His wrath.

Ta là người đã thấy khốn khổ bởi gậy thạnh nộ của Ngài.

2 H e has led me and brought me into darkness and not light.

Ngài đã dắt ta và khiến ta bước đi trong tối tăm, chẳng bước đi trong sáng láng.

3 S urely He has turned away from me; His hand is against me all the day.

Chắc Ngài trở tay cả ngày nghịch cùng ta nhiều lần.

4 M y flesh and my skin has He worn out and made old; He has shattered my bones.

Ngài đã làm hao mòn thịt và da, đã bẻ gãy xương ta,

5 H e has built up against me and surrounded me with bitterness, tribulation, and anguish.

Đã xây đắp nghịch cùng ta, vây ta bằng mật đắng và sự nhọc nhằn,

6 H e has caused me to dwell in dark places like those long dead.

Khiến ta ở trong nơi tối tăm, như người đã chết từ lâu đời.

7 H e walled me in so that I cannot get out; He has weighted down my chain.

Ngài đã bao bọc ta bằng tường, mà không cho ra; lại làm cho nặng xiềng ta.

8 E ven when I cry and shout for help, He shuts out my prayer.

Khi ta kỳ lạ và xin cứu, Ngài bịt tai chẳng nghe lời cầu nguyện;

9 H e has enclosed my ways with hewn stone; He has made my paths crooked.

Lấy những đá đẽo lấp lối ta; Ngài đã làm cho đường nẻo ta quanh quẹo.

10 H e is to me like a bear lying in wait, and like a lion in secret places.

Ngài đối với ta như gấu rình rập, như sư tử nơi kín đáo;

11 H e has turned me off my ways and pulled me in pieces; He has made me desolate.

Khiến ta lạc đường và vồ xé ta, cho ta phải sầu não.

12 H e has bent His bow and set me as a mark for the arrow.

Ngài đã giương cung và chọn ta làm tròng cho tên Ngài.

13 H e has caused the arrows of His quiver to enter into my heart.

Ngài đã khiến tên trong bao Ngài vào trái cật ta:

14 I have become a derision to all my people, and their singsong all the day.

Ta làm trò cười cho cả dân ta, họ lấy ta làm bài hát cả ngày.

15 H e has filled me with bitterness; He has made me drink to excess and until drunken with wormwood.

Ngài đã cho ta đầy dẫy sự đắng cay, cho ta no nê bằng ngải cứu.

16 H e has also broken my teeth with gravel (stones); He has covered me with ashes.

Ngài đã lấy sỏi bẻ răng ta; vùi ta vào trong tro.

17 A nd You have bereaved my soul and cast it off far from peace; I have forgotten what good and happiness are.

Ngài khiến hồn ta xa sự bình an, ta đã quên phước lành.

18 A nd I say, Perished is my strength and my expectation from the Lord.

Ta rằng: Hết sức mạnh ta, dứt lòng trông đợi Đức Giê-hô-va.

19 r emember my affliction and my misery, my wandering and my outcast state, the wormwood and the gall.

Hãy nhớ đến sự hoạn nạn khốn khổ ta, là ngải cứu và mật đắng.

20 M y soul has them continually in remembrance and is bowed down within me.

Hồn ta còn nhớ đến, và hao mòn trong ta.

21 B ut this I recall and therefore have I hope and expectation:

Ta nhớ lại sự đó, thì có sự trông mong:

22 I t is because of the Lord’s mercy and loving-kindness that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not.

Aáy là nhờ sự nhơn từ Đức Giê-hô-va mà chúng ta chưa tuyệt. Vì sự thương xót của Ngài chẳng dứt.

23 T hey are new every morning; great and abundant is Your stability and faithfulness.

Mỗi buổi sáng thì lại mới luôn, sự thành tín Ngài là lớn lắm.

24 T he Lord is my portion or share, says my living being (my inner self); therefore will I hope in Him and wait expectantly for Him.

Hồn ta nói: Đức Giê-hô-va là cơ nghiệp ta, nên ta để lòng trông cậy nơi Ngài.

25 T he Lord is good to those who wait hopefully and expectantly for Him, to those who seek Him.

Đức Giê-hô-va ban sự nhơn từ cho những kẻ trông đợi Ngài, cho linh hồn tìm cầu Ngài.

26 I t is good that one should hope in and wait quietly for the salvation (the safety and ease) of the Lord.

Thật tốt cho người trông mong và yên lặng đợi chờ sự cứu rỗi của Đức Giê-hô-va.

27 I t is good for a man that he should bear the yoke in his youth.

Thật tốt cho người mang ách lúc trẻ thơ.

28 L et him sit alone uncomplaining and keeping silent, because has laid upon him.

Phải, nó phải ngồi một mình và làm thinh, vì Ngài đã gán ách trên mình.

29 L et him put his mouth in the dust —there may yet be hope.

Nó khá để miệng trong bụi đất! hoặc giả sẽ có sự trông mong.

30 L et him give his cheek to the One Who smites him; let him be filled with reproach.

Nó khá đưa má ra cho kẻ vả, khá chịu đầy nhuốc nha.

31 F or the Lord will not cast off forever!

Vì Chúa chẳng hề bỏ cho đến đời đời.

32 B ut though He causes grief, yet will He be moved to compassion according to the multitude of His loving-kindness and tender mercy.

Dầu Ngài đã làm cho lo buồn, còn sẽ thương xót theo sự dư dật của lòng nhơn từ Ngài;

33 F or He does not willingly and from His heart afflict or grieve the children of men.

Vì ấy là chẳng phải bổn tâm Ngài làm cho con cái loài người cực khổ và buồn rầu.

34 T o trample and crush underfoot all the prisoners of the earth,

Khi người ta giày đạp mọi kẻ tù trong đất,

35 T o turn aside and deprive a man of his rights before the face of the Most High or a superior,

Khi uốn cong lý đoán của người trước mặt Đấng Rất Cao,

36 T o subvert a man in his cause— the Lord does not approve.

Khi điên đảo ai trong sự xét đoán, thì Chúa chẳng ưng chịu.

37 W ho is he who speaks and it comes to pass, if the Lord has not authorized and commanded it?

Nếu chẳng phải Chúa truyền lịnh, ai hay nói ra và sự ấy được thành?

38 I s it not out of the mouth of the Most High that evil and good both proceed ?

Há chẳng phải từ miệng Đấng Rất Cao ra tai họa và phước lành?

39 W hy does a living man sigh ? a man complain for the punishment of his sins?

Cớ sao người đang sống phàn nàn vì chịu hình phạt về tội lỗi mình?

40 L et us test and examine our ways, and let us return to the Lord!

Chúng ta hãy xét và thử đường mình, trở về cùng Đức Giê-hô-va.

41 L et us lift up our hearts and our hands to God in heaven:

Chúng ta hãy giơ lòng và tay lên đến Đức Chúa Trời trên trời.

42 W e have transgressed and rebelled and You have not pardoned.

Chúng tôi đã phạm phép, đã bạn nghịch; Ngài đã chẳng dung thứ!

43 Y ou have covered Yourself with wrath and pursued and afflicted us; You have slain without pity.

Ngài lấy giận che mình và đuổi theo chúng tôi, giết lát chúng tôi, chẳng thương xót.

44 Y ou have covered Yourself with a cloud so that no prayer can pass through.

Ngài ẩn mình trong mây, đến nỗi chẳng lời cầu nguyện nào thấu qua được.

45 Y ou have made us offscouring and refuse among the nations.

Ngài làm chúng tôi ra của bỏ, ra đồ rác rến trong dân sự.

46 A ll our enemies have gaped at us and railed against us.

Mọi kẻ nghịch thù hả miệng rộng nghịch cùng chúng tôi.

47 F ear and pitfall have come upon us, devastation and destruction.

Chúng tôi đã mắc sự sợ hãi, hầm hố, hủy diệt, và hư hại.

48 M y eyes overflow with streams of tears because of the destruction of the daughter of my people.

Mắt tôi chảy dòng nước, vì gái dân tôi mắc diệt vong.

49 M y eyes overflow continually and will not cease

Mắt tôi tuôn nước mắt, không thôi cũng không ngớt,

50 U ntil the Lord looks down and sees from heaven.

Cho đến chừng nào Đức Giê-hô-va đoái xem, từ trên trời ngó xuống.

51 M y eyes cause me grief at the fate of all the maidens of my city.

Mắt tôi làm khổ linh hồn tôi, vì mọi con gái của thành tôi.

52 I have been hunted down like a bird by those who were my enemies without cause.

Những kẻ vô cớ thù nghịch tôi đã đuổi tôi như đuổi chim.

53 T hey destroyed my life in the dungeon (pit) and cast a stone above me.

Họ muốn giết tôi nơi ngục tối, và ném đá trên tôi.

54 T he waters ran down on my head; I said, I am gone.

Nước lên ngập đầu tôi, tôi nói: Ta phải chết mất!

55 I called upon Your name, O Lord, out of the depths of the dungeon.

Hỡi Đức Giê-hô-va, tôi từ nơi ngục tối rất sâu kêu cầu danh Ngài.

56 Y ou heard my voice: hide not Your ear at my prayer for relief.

Ngài chúng con đã nghe tiếng tôi, xin đừng bịt tai khỏi hơi thở và lời kêu van tôi.

57 Y ou drew near on the day I called to You; You said, Fear not.

Ngày tôi cầu Ngài, Ngài đã đến gần tôi, đã phán cùng tôi: Chớ sợ hãi chi!

58 O Lord, You have pleaded the causes of my soul; You have rescued and redeemed my life!

Hỡi Chúa, Ngài đã đối nại việc hồn tôi, là Đấng chuộc mạng tôi.

59 O Lord, You have seen my wrong; judge and maintain my cause.

Hỡi Đức Giê-hô-va, Ngài đã thấy người ta hiếp đáp tôi: xin đoán xét việc tôi!

60 Y ou have seen all their vengeance, all their devices against me.

Chúng nó báo thù, lập mưu hại tôi, thì Ngài đã thấy hết.

61 Y ou have heard their reproach and revilings, O Lord, and all their devices against me—

Hỡi Đức Giê-hô-va, Ngài đã nghe chúng nó sỉ nhục, bày mọi mưu chước nghịch cùng tôi.

62 T he lips and thoughts of my assailants are against me all day long.

Những môi miếng của kẻ dấy nghịch cùng tôi và mưu kế lập ra hại tôi cả ngày.

63 L ook at their sitting down and their rising up; I am their singsong.

Xin Ngài xem sự ngồi xuống và đứng dậy của chúng nó; tôi là bài hát của chúng nó.

64 R ender to them a recompense, O Lord, according to the work of their hands.

Hỡi Đức Giê-hô-va, Ngài sẽ báo trả chúng nó tùy theo việc tay chúng nó làm.

65 Y ou will give them hardness and blindness of heart; Your curse will be upon them.

Ngài sẽ ban lòng cứng cỏi cho chúng nó, sự rủa sả giáng trên chúng nó.

66 Y ou will pursue and afflict them in anger and destroy them from under Your heavens, O Lord.

Ngài sẽ lấy cơn giận và đuổi theo, hủy hoại chúng nó khỏi dưới trời của Đức Giê-hô-va.
