1 I am the man who has seen affliction under the rod of His wrath.

2 H e has led me and brought me into darkness and not light.

3 S urely He has turned away from me; His hand is against me all the day.
Ciertamente contra mí ha vuelto y revuelto Su mano todo el día.
4 M y flesh and my skin has He worn out and made old; He has shattered my bones.
Ha hecho que se consuman mi carne y mi piel, Ha quebrado mis huesos.
5 H e has built up against me and surrounded me with bitterness, tribulation, and anguish.
Me ha sitiado y rodeado De amargura y de fatiga.
6 H e has caused me to dwell in dark places like those long dead.
En lugares tenebrosos me ha hecho morar, Como los que han muerto hace tiempo.
7 H e walled me in so that I cannot get out; He has weighted down my chain.
Con muro me ha cercado y no puedo salir, Ha hecho pesadas mis cadenas.
8 E ven when I cry and shout for help, He shuts out my prayer.
Aun cuando clamo y pido auxilio, El cierra el paso a mi oración.
9 H e has enclosed my ways with hewn stone; He has made my paths crooked.
Ha cerrado mis caminos con piedra labrada, Ha hecho tortuosos mis senderos.
10 H e is to me like a bear lying in wait, and like a lion in secret places.
El es para mí como oso en acecho, Como león en lugares ocultos.
11 H e has turned me off my ways and pulled me in pieces; He has made me desolate.
Ha desviado mis caminos y me ha destrozado, Me ha dejado desolado.
12 H e has bent His bow and set me as a mark for the arrow.
Ha tensado Su arco Y me ha puesto como blanco de la flecha.
13 H e has caused the arrows of His quiver to enter into my heart.
Hizo que penetraran en mis entrañas Las flechas de Su aljaba.
14 I have become a derision to all my people, and their singsong all the day.
He venido a ser objeto de burla de todo mi pueblo, Su canción todo el día.
15 H e has filled me with bitterness; He has made me drink to excess and until drunken with wormwood.
El me ha llenado de amargura, Me ha embriagado con ajenjo.
16 H e has also broken my teeth with gravel (stones); He has covered me with ashes.
Ha quebrado con guijarro mis dientes, Ha hecho que me revuelque en el polvo.
17 A nd You have bereaved my soul and cast it off far from peace; I have forgotten what good and happiness are.
Y mi alma ha sido privada de la paz, He olvidado la felicidad.
18 A nd I say, Perished is my strength and my expectation from the Lord.
Digo, pues: “Se me acabaron las fuerzas, Y mi esperanza que venía del Señor.”
19 r emember my affliction and my misery, my wandering and my outcast state, the wormwood and the gall.
Acuérdate de mi aflicción y de mi vagar, Del ajenjo y de la amargura.
20 M y soul has them continually in remembrance and is bowed down within me.
Ciertamente mi alma lo recuerda Y se abate mi alma dentro de mí.
21 B ut this I recall and therefore have I hope and expectation:
Esto traigo a mi corazón, Por esto tengo esperanza:
22 I t is because of the Lord’s mercy and loving-kindness that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not.
Que las misericordias del Señor jamás terminan, Pues nunca fallan Sus bondades;
23 T hey are new every morning; great and abundant is Your stability and faithfulness.
Son nuevas cada mañana; ¡Grande es Tu fidelidad!
24 T he Lord is my portion or share, says my living being (my inner self); therefore will I hope in Him and wait expectantly for Him.
“El Señor es mi porción,” dice mi alma, “por tanto en El espero.”
25 T he Lord is good to those who wait hopefully and expectantly for Him, to those who seek Him.
Bueno es el Señor para los que en El esperan, Para el alma que Lo busca.
26 I t is good that one should hope in and wait quietly for the salvation (the safety and ease) of the Lord.
Bueno es esperar en silencio La salvación del Señor.
27 I t is good for a man that he should bear the yoke in his youth.
Bueno es para el hombre llevar El yugo en su juventud.
28 L et him sit alone uncomplaining and keeping silent, because has laid upon him.
Que se siente solo y en silencio Ya que El se lo ha impuesto.
29 L et him put his mouth in the dust —there may yet be hope.
Que ponga su boca en el polvo, Quizá haya esperanza;
30 L et him give his cheek to the One Who smites him; let him be filled with reproach.
Que dé la mejilla al que lo hiere; Que se sacie de oprobios.
31 F or the Lord will not cast off forever!
Porque el Señor no rechaza para siempre,
32 B ut though He causes grief, yet will He be moved to compassion according to the multitude of His loving-kindness and tender mercy.
Antes bien, si aflige, también se compadecerá Según Su gran misericordia.
33 F or He does not willingly and from His heart afflict or grieve the children of men.
Porque El no castiga por gusto Ni aflige a los hijos de los hombres.
34 T o trample and crush underfoot all the prisoners of the earth,
Aplastar bajo los pies A todos los prisioneros de un país,
35 T o turn aside and deprive a man of his rights before the face of the Most High or a superior,
Privar del derecho a un hombre En presencia del Altísimo,
36 T o subvert a man in his cause— the Lord does not approve.
Defraudar a un hombre en su litigio: Estas cosas no aprueba el Señor.
37 W ho is he who speaks and it comes to pass, if the Lord has not authorized and commanded it?
¿Quién es aquél que habla y así sucede, A menos que el Señor lo haya ordenado ?
38 I s it not out of the mouth of the Most High that evil and good both proceed ?
¿No salen de la boca del Altísimo Tanto el mal como el bien ?
39 W hy does a living man sigh ? a man complain for the punishment of his sins?
¿Por qué ha de quejarse el ser viviente? ¡ Sea valiente frente a sus pecados!
40 L et us test and examine our ways, and let us return to the Lord!
Examinemos nuestros caminos y escudriñémos los, Y volvamos al Señor.
41 L et us lift up our hearts and our hands to God in heaven:
Alcemos nuestro corazón en nuestras manos Hacia Dios en los cielos.
42 W e have transgressed and rebelled and You have not pardoned.
Nosotros hemos transgredido y nos hemos rebelado; Tú no has perdonado.
43 Y ou have covered Yourself with wrath and pursued and afflicted us; You have slain without pity.
Te has cubierto de ira y nos has perseguido; Has matado y no has perdonado.
44 Y ou have covered Yourself with a cloud so that no prayer can pass through.
Te has cubierto de una nube Para que no pase la oración.
45 Y ou have made us offscouring and refuse among the nations.
Basura y escoria nos has hecho En medio de los pueblos.
46 A ll our enemies have gaped at us and railed against us.
Han abierto su boca contra nosotros Todos nuestros enemigos.
47 F ear and pitfall have come upon us, devastation and destruction.
Nos han sobrevenido terror y foso, Desolación y destrucción.
48 M y eyes overflow with streams of tears because of the destruction of the daughter of my people.
Arroyos de lágrimas derraman mis ojos A causa de la destrucción de la hija de mi pueblo (Jerusalén).
49 M y eyes overflow continually and will not cease
Mis ojos fluyen sin cesar, Ya que no hay descanso
50 U ntil the Lord looks down and sees from heaven.
Hasta que el Señor mire Y vea desde los cielos.
51 M y eyes cause me grief at the fate of all the maidens of my city.
Mis ojos traen dolor a mi alma Por todas las hijas de mi ciudad.
52 I have been hunted down like a bird by those who were my enemies without cause.
Mis enemigos, sin haber causa, Constantemente me han dado caza como a un ave.
53 T hey destroyed my life in the dungeon (pit) and cast a stone above me.
Silenciaron mi vida en la fosa, Pusieron piedra sobre mí.
54 T he waters ran down on my head; I said, I am gone.
Cubrieron las aguas mi cabeza, Dije: “¡Estoy perdido!”
55 I called upon Your name, O Lord, out of the depths of the dungeon.
Invoqué Tu nombre, oh Señor, Desde la fosa más profunda.
56 Y ou heard my voice: hide not Your ear at my prayer for relief.
Tú oíste mi voz: “No escondas Tu oído a mi clamor, a mi grito de auxilio.”
57 Y ou drew near on the day I called to You; You said, Fear not.
Te acercaste el día que Te invoqué, Dijiste: “¡No temas!”
58 O Lord, You have pleaded the causes of my soul; You have rescued and redeemed my life!
Tú has defendido, oh Señor, la causa de mi alma, Tú has redimido mi vida.
59 O Lord, You have seen my wrong; judge and maintain my cause.
Tú has visto, oh Señor, mi opresión, Juzga mi causa.
60 Y ou have seen all their vengeance, all their devices against me.
Has visto toda su venganza, Todas sus tramas contra mí.
61 Y ou have heard their reproach and revilings, O Lord, and all their devices against me—
Has oído sus oprobios, oh Señor, Todas sus tramas contra mí;
62 T he lips and thoughts of my assailants are against me all day long.
Los labios de mis agresores y sus murmuraciones Están contra mí todo el día.
63 L ook at their sitting down and their rising up; I am their singsong.
Se sienten o se levanten, míra los, Yo soy el objeto de su canción.
64 R ender to them a recompense, O Lord, according to the work of their hands.
Tú les darás su pago, oh Señor, Conforme a la obra de sus manos.
65 Y ou will give them hardness and blindness of heart; Your curse will be upon them.
Les darás dureza de corazón, Tu maldición será sobre ellos.
66 Y ou will pursue and afflict them in anger and destroy them from under Your heavens, O Lord.
Los perseguirás con ira y los destruirás De debajo de los cielos del Señor.
