2 T he Lord is a jealous God and avenging; the Lord avenges and He is full of wrath. The Lord takes vengeance on His adversaries and reserves wrath for His enemies.

Dios celoso y vengador es el Señor; Vengador es el Señor e irascible. El Señor se venga de Sus adversarios, Y guarda rencor a Sus enemigos.

3 T he Lord is slow to anger and great in power and will by no means clear the guilty. The Lord has His way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of His feet.

El Señor es lento para la ira y grande en poder, Y ciertamente el Señor no dejará sin castigo al culpable. En el torbellino y la tempestad está Su camino, Y las nubes son el polvo de Sus pies.

4 H e rebukes and threatens the sea and makes it dry, and dries up all the rivers. Bashan and Mount Carmel wither, and the blossom of Lebanon fades.

El reprende al mar y lo hace secar, Y todos los ríos agota. Languidecen Basán y el Carmelo, Y las flores del Líbano se marchitan.

5 T he mountains tremble and quake before Him and the hills melt away, and the earth is upheaved at His presence—yes, the world and all that dwell in it.

Los montes tiemblan ante El, Y los collados se derriten. Sí, en Su presencia se levanta la tierra, El mundo y todos los que en él habitan.

6 W ho can stand before His indignation? And who can stand up and endure the fierceness of His anger? His wrath is poured out like fire, and the rocks are broken asunder by Him.

En presencia de Su indignación, ¿quién resistirá ? ¿Quién se mantendrá en pie ante el ardor de Su ira ? Su furor se derrama como fuego, Y las rocas se despedazan ante El.

7 T he Lord is good, a Strength and Stronghold in the day of trouble; He knows (recognizes, has knowledge of, and understands) those who take refuge and trust in Him.

Bueno es el Señor, Una fortaleza en el día de la angustia, Y conoce a los que en El se refugian.

8 B ut with an overrunning flood He will make a full end of site and pursue His enemies into darkness.

Pero con inundación desbordante Pondrá fin a su lugar (a Nínive), Y perseguirá a Sus enemigos aun en las tinieblas.

9 W hat do you devise and plot against the Lord? He will make a full end; affliction shall not rise up the second time.

Lo que tramen contra el Señor, El lo hará completa destrucción; No surgirá dos veces la angustia.

10 F or are as bundles of thorn branches, and even while drowned in their drunken they shall be consumed like stubble fully dry.

Porque ellos, como espinos enmarañados, Y ebrios con su bebida, Serán consumidos como paja totalmente seca.

11 T here is one gone forth out of you who plots evil against the Lord, a villainous counselor.

De ti ha salido El que ha tramado el mal contra el Señor, Un consejero perverso.

12 T hus says the Lord: Though they be in full strength and likewise many, even so shall be cut down when shall pass away. Though I have afflicted you, I will not cause you to be afflicted any more.

Así dice el Señor: “Aunque estén con todo su vigor y por más que sean muchos, Aun así serán cortados y desaparecerán. Aunque te haya afligido, Judá No te afligiré más.

13 F or now will I break his yoke from off you and will burst your bonds asunder.

Y ahora, quebraré su yugo de sobre ti, Y romperé tus coyundas.”

14 A nd the Lord has given a commandment concerning you, that no more of your name shall be born nor shall your name be perpetuated. Out of the house of your gods I will cut off the graven and molten images; I will make your tomb, for you are vile and despised.

El Señor ha dado una orden en cuanto a ti (rey de Nínive): “No se perpetuará más tu nombre. De la casa de tus dioses Arrancaré los ídolos y las imágenes de fundición. Yo prepararé tu sepultura, porque eres vil.”

15 B ehold! upon the mountains the feet of him who brings good tidings, who publishes peace! Celebrate your feasts, O Judah; perform your vows. For the wicked counselor shall no more come against you or pass through your land; he is utterly cut off.

Miren, sobre los montes andan Los pies del que trae buenas nuevas, Del que anuncia la paz. Celebra tus fiestas, Judá, Cumple tus votos. Porque nunca más volverá A pasar por ti el malvado; Ha sido exterminado por completo.
