1 W hen Ish-bosheth, Saul’s son, heard that Abner was dead in Hebron, his courage failed, and all the Israelites were troubled and dismayed.

2 S aul’s son had two men who were captains of raiding bands. One was named Baanah and the other Rechab, sons of Rimmon the Beerothite of Benjamin—for Beeroth also was reckoned to Benjamin,

4 J onathan, Saul’s son, had a son who was a cripple in his feet. He was five years old when the news came out of Jezreel of Saul and Jonathan. And the boy’s nurse took him up and fled; and in her haste, he fell and became lame. His name was Mephibosheth.

Jonatán, hijo de Saúl, tenía un hijo lisiado de los pies. Este tenía cinco años cuando de Jezreel llegaron las noticias de la muerte de Saúl y Jonatán, y su nodriza lo tomó y huyó, pero sucedió que en su prisa por huir, él se cayó y quedó cojo. Su nombre era Mefiboset.

5 N ow the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, went about in the heat of the day to the house of Ish-bosheth, who lay resting on his bed at noon.

6 A nd they came into the interior of the house as though they were delivering wheat, and they smote him in the body; and Rechab and Baanah his brother escaped.

7 N ow when they had come into the house and he lay on his bed in his bedroom, they smote and slew him, beheaded him and took his head and went by the way of the plain all night.

8 A nd they brought the head of Ish-bosheth to David at Hebron and said to the king, Behold, the head of Ish-bosheth son of Saul, your enemy, who sought your life; and the Lord has avenged my lord the king this day on Saul and on his offspring.

y trajeron la cabeza de Isboset a David en Hebrón, y dijeron al rey: “Esta es la cabeza de Isboset, hijo de su enemigo Saúl, el que buscaba su vida; de esta manera el Señor hoy ha concedido venganza a mi señor el rey sobre Saúl y sus descendientes.”

9 A nd David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, As the Lord lives, Who redeemed my life out of all adversity,

Respondiendo David a Recab y a su hermano Baana, hijos de Rimón el Beerotita, les dijo: “Vive el Señor que ha redimido mi vida de toda angustia,

10 W hen one told me, Behold, Saul is dead, thinking he was bringing good news, I seized and slew him in Ziklag who expected me to give him a reward for his news.

porque cuando uno me avisó: ‘Saúl ha muerto,’ pensando que me traía buenas noticias, yo lo prendí y lo maté en Siclag, lo cual fue el pago que le di por sus noticias.

11 H ow much more—when wicked men have slain a just man in his own house on his bed—shall I not now require his blood of your hand and remove you from the earth!

¿Cuánto más, cuando hombres malvados han matado a un hombre justo en su propia casa y sobre su cama, no demandaré ahora su sangre de las manos de ustedes, borrándolos de la tierra?”

12 D avid commanded his young men, and they slew them and cut off their hands and feet and hanged them over the pool in Hebron. But they took Ish-bosheth’s head and buried it in Hebron in the tomb of Abner.

Y David dio una orden a los jóvenes, y ellos los mataron y les cortaron las manos y los pies y los colgaron junto al estanque en Hebrón. Pero tomaron la cabeza de Isboset y la sepultaron en el sepulcro de Abner, en Hebrón.
