1 I n the twelfth year, in the twelfth month, on the first day of the month, the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

En el año duodécimo, el mes duodécimo, el día primero del mes, vino a mí la palabra del Señor:

2 S on of man, take up a lamentation over Pharaoh king of Egypt and say to him, You have likened to a young lion, leader of the nations, but you are like a dragon in the seas; you break forth in your rivers and trouble the waters with your feet, and you make foul their rivers.

“Hijo de hombre, eleva una elegía por Faraón, rey de Egipto, y dile: ‘Parecías un leoncillo de las naciones Pero eras como el monstruo de los mares; Prorrumpías en tus ríos, Enturbiabas las aguas con tus pies Y ensuciabas sus ríos.’”

3 T hus says the Lord God: I will therefore throw out My net over you with a host of many peoples, and they shall bring you up in My dragnet.

Así dice el Señor Dios: “Mi red tenderé sobre ti En compañía de muchos pueblos, Y ellos te alzarán en Mi red.

4 T hen I will leave you upon the shore; I will cast you on the open field and will cause all the birds of the heavens to settle upon you, and I will fill the beasts of the whole earth with you.

Te dejaré en tierra, Te echaré en campo abierto, Y haré que habiten sobre ti todas las aves del cielo, Y saciaré de ti a las bestias de toda la tierra.

5 A nd I will scatter your flesh upon the mountains and fill the valleys with your high heap of corpses and their worms.

Pondré tu carne sobre los montes, Y llenaré los valles de tu carroña.

6 I will also water with your flowing blood the land, even to the mountains, and the hollows and water channels shall be full of you.

También haré que la tierra se empape con el derramamiento de tu sangre Hasta los montes, Y las barrancas se llenarán de ti.

7 A nd when I have extinguished you, I will cover the heavens and make their stars dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud and the moon shall not give her light.

Cuando te hayas extinguido, cubriré los cielos Y oscureceré sus estrellas; Cubriré el sol de nubes, Y la luna no dará su luz.

8 A ll the bright lights of the heavens I will make dark over you and set darkness upon your land, says the Lord God.

Todos los astros brillantes del cielo Oscureceré por causa tuya, Y pondré tinieblas sobre tu tierra,” Declara el Señor Dios.

9 I will also trouble and vex the hearts of many peoples when I bring your breaking and trembling and destruction and carry you captive among the nations, into the countries which you have not known.

“También turbaré el corazón de muchos pueblos, cuando haga llegar la noticia de tu destrucción entre las naciones, hasta tierras que no has conocido.

10 I will make many peoples amazed and appalled at you, and their kings shall shudder and be horribly afraid because of you when I brandish My sword before them; they shall tremble every moment, every man for his own life, in the day of your downfall.

Y haré que muchos pueblos se queden pasmados por causa tuya, y sus reyes en gran manera se aterrorizarán de ti cuando Yo blanda Mi espada ante ellos. Temblarán constantemente, cada uno por su vida, el día de tu caída.”

11 F or thus says the Lord God: The sword of the king of Babylon shall come upon you.

Pues así dice el Señor Dios: “La espada del rey de Babilonia vendrá sobre ti.

12 I will cause your multitude, your tumult, and your store to fall by the swords of the mighty—the most terrible among the nations are they all. And they shall bring to nothing the pomp and pride of Egypt, and all its multitude shall be destroyed.

Con las espadas de los poderosos haré caer tu multitud, tiranos todos ellos de las naciones, Que asolarán el orgullo de Egipto, Y toda su multitud será destruida.

13 I will destroy also all its beasts from beside many and great waters, and no foot of man shall trouble them any more, nor shall the hoofs of beasts trouble them.

También destruiré todo su ganado junto a aguas abundantes; No las enturbiará más pie de hombre, Ni pezuñas de animales las enturbiarán.

14 T hen will I make their waters sink down (subside, be quiet, and become clear); their rivers I will cause to run like oil, says the Lord God.

Entonces haré asentarse sus aguas, Y haré correr sus ríos como el aceite,” Declara el Señor Dios.

15 W hen I make the land of Egypt desolate, and the country is stripped and destitute of all that of which it was full when I smite all those who dwell in it, then will they know, understand, and realize that I am the Lord.

“Cuando Yo haga de la tierra de Egipto una desolación, Y la tierra quede despojada de lo que la llenaba, Cuando Yo hiera a todos los que en ella viven, Entonces sabrán que Yo soy el Señor.

16 T his is the lamentation with which they shall intone or chant the lament for her; the daughters of the nations shall chant their lament with it; over Egypt and over all her multitude, her tumult, and her wealth in every sphere shall they chant it, says the Lord God.

Esta es la lamentación y la cantarán; las hijas de las naciones la cantarán. Sobre Egipto y sobre toda su multitud la cantarán,” declara el Señor Dios.

17 I n the twelfth year, on the fifteenth day of the month, the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

En el año duodécimo, el día quince del mes, vino a mí de nuevo la palabra del Señor:

18 S on of man, wail over the multitude of Egypt and cast them down, even her and the daughters of the famous and majestic nations, to the netherworld, with those who go down to the pit;

“Hijo de hombre, laméntate por la multitud de Egipto, hazla descender, con las hijas de las naciones poderosas, a las profundidades de la tierra, con los que descienden a la fosa;

19 W hom do you surpass in beauty? Go down and be laid with the uncircumcised (the heathen).

‘¿A quién superas en hermosura? Desciende, y yace con los incircuncisos.’

20 T hey shall fall in the midst of those who are slain by the sword; she is delivered to the sword; they draw her down, and all her multitudes.

En medio de los muertos a espada ellos caerán. Egipto es entregado a la espada; lo han arrastrado con toda su multitud.

21 T he strong among the mighty shall speak of out of the midst of Sheol (the place of the dead, the netherworld) with those who helped him; they are gone down; they lie still, even the uncircumcised (the heathen) slain by the sword.

Los fuertes entre los poderosos hablarán de Egipto y de sus auxiliares de en medio del Seol (región de los muertos): ‘Han descendido, yacen los incircuncisos muertos a espada.’

22 A ssyria is there and all her company; their graves are round about her, all of them slain, fallen by the sword,

“Allí está Asiria con toda su multitud, sus tumbas la rodean; todos ellos muertos, caídos a espada.

23 W hose graves are set in the uttermost parts of the pit and whose company is round about her grave, all of them slain, fallen by the sword, who caused terror to spread in the land of the living.

Sus tumbas están en las partes más profundas de la fosa, y su multitud está alrededor de su tumba; todos ellos muertos, caídos a espada, los cuales infundían terror en la tierra de los vivientes.

24 E lam is there and all her multitude round about her grave, all of them slain, fallen by the sword, who have gone down uncircumcised into the netherworld, who caused their terror to spread in the land of the living and have borne their shame with those who go down to the pit.

“Allí está Elam y toda su multitud alrededor de su tumba; todos ellos muertos, caídos a espada, los cuales descendieron incircuncisos a las profundidades de la tierra. Ellos que infundían su terror en la tierra de los vivientes, cargaron su ignominia con los que descienden a la fosa.

25 T hey have set her a bed (a sepulcher) among the slain with all her multitude—their graves round about her, all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword, for their terror had spread in the land of the living, and they henceforth bear their shame with those who go down to the pit; they are laid in the midst of the slain.

Le han hecho un lecho en medio de los muertos con toda su multitud. Sus tumbas lo rodean; todos son incircuncisos, muertos a espada: por haber infundido su terror en la tierra de los vivientes, cargaron su ignominia con los que descienden a la fosa; fueron puestos en medio de los muertos.

26 M eshech, Tubal, and all their multitude are there; their graves are round about, all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword, for they caused their terror to be spread in the land of the living.

“Mesec, Tubal y toda su multitud están allí; sus tumbas los rodean; todos ellos incircuncisos. Los mataron a espada, por haber infundido su terror en la tierra de los vivientes.

27 A nd they shall not lie with the mighty who have fallen of the uncircumcised who have gone down to Sheol (the place of the dead, the netherworld) with their weapons of war, whose swords were laid under their heads and whose iniquities are upon their bones, for they caused their terror to spread in the land of the living.

Y no yacen junto a los héroes caídos de entre los incircuncisos que descendieron al Seol con sus armas de guerra, cuyas espadas estaban colocadas debajo de sus cabezas; pero el castigo de su iniquidad cayó sobre sus huesos, porque el terror de estos héroes prevalecía en la tierra de los vivientes.

28 B ut you shall be broken in the midst of the uncircumcised and shall lie with those who are slain with the sword.

Pero tú, en medio de los incircuncisos serás quebrantado, y yacerás con los muertos a espada.

29 E dom is there, her kings and all her princes, who for all their might are laid with those who were slain by the sword; they shall lie with the uncircumcised (the heathen) and with those who go down to the pit.

“Allí está Edom, sus reyes y todos sus príncipes, quienes con todo su poderío fueron puestos con los muertos a espada. Ellos están tendidos con los incircuncisos y con los que descienden a la fosa.

30 T he princes of the north are there, all of them, and all the Sidonians, who have gone down with the slain; for all the terror which they caused by their might they are put to shame, and they lie uncircumcised with those who are slain by the sword and henceforth bear their shame with those who go down to the pit.

“Allí están los jefes del norte, todos ellos y todos los Sidonios, quienes a pesar del terror causado por su poderío, descendieron avergonzados con los muertos. Están tendidos los incircuncisos con los muertos a espada y cargaron su ignominia con los que descienden a la fosa.

31 W hen Pharaoh sees them, he will comfort himself for all his multitude—even Pharaoh and all his army, slain by the sword, says the Lord God.

“A éstos verá Faraón y se consolará con respecto a toda su multitud muerta a espada, Faraón y todo su ejército,” declara el Señor Dios.

32 F or I have put his and My terror in the land of the living, and he shall be laid in the midst of the uncircumcised (the heathen) with those slain by the sword, even Pharaoh and all his multitude, says the Lord God.

“Aunque Yo infundí el terror de Faraón en la tierra de los vivientes, sin embargo a Faraón y a toda su multitud se le hará estar entre los incircuncisos con los muertos a espada,” declara el Señor Dios.
