1 I n the twelfth year, in the twelfth month, on the first day of the month, the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

El día primero del mes duodécimo del año duodécimo, la palabra del Señor vino a mí, y me dijo:

2 S on of man, take up a lamentation over Pharaoh king of Egypt and say to him, You have likened to a young lion, leader of the nations, but you are like a dragon in the seas; you break forth in your rivers and trouble the waters with your feet, and you make foul their rivers.

«Hijo de hombre, entona un lamento por el faraón, el rey de Egipto, que diga: »Entre las naciones, te pareces a un león; en los mares, eres semejante a un dragón. Con las patas enturbias el agua y secas los ríos, mientras chapoteas en sus riberas.»

3 T hus says the Lord God: I will therefore throw out My net over you with a host of many peoples, and they shall bring you up in My dragnet.

Así ha dicho Dios el Señor: «Voy a lanzar mi red sobre ti, y con ella muchos ejércitos te sacarán del agua.

4 T hen I will leave you upon the shore; I will cast you on the open field and will cause all the birds of the heavens to settle upon you, and I will fill the beasts of the whole earth with you.

Te pondré en tierra, te tenderé sobre el suelo, y dejaré que todas las aves del cielo se posen sobre ti. ¡Contigo saciaré el hambre de todas las fieras salvajes!

5 A nd I will scatter your flesh upon the mountains and fill the valleys with your high heap of corpses and their worms.

Pondré tus restos sobre los montes, y llenaré los valles con tus cadáveres.

6 I will also water with your flowing blood the land, even to the mountains, and the hollows and water channels shall be full of you.

Con tu sangre regaré la tierra donde ahora nadas, hasta la cumbre los montes, y con ella se llenarán los arroyos.

7 A nd when I have extinguished you, I will cover the heavens and make their stars dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud and the moon shall not give her light.

Cuando te hayas consumido, haré que se oscurezcan los cielos y se eclipsen las estrellas; cubriré de nubes el sol, y la luna dejará de brillar.

8 A ll the bright lights of the heavens I will make dark over you and set darkness upon your land, says the Lord God.

Por tu culpa haré que se apaguen todos los astros del cielo, y cubriré de tinieblas tu país. Palabra de Dios el Señor.

9 I will also trouble and vex the hearts of many peoples when I bring your breaking and trembling and destruction and carry you captive among the nations, into the countries which you have not known.

»Cuando lleve a tu pueblo al cautiverio entre las naciones, a países que no conocías, haré que el corazón de muchos pueblos se entristezca.

10 I will make many peoples amazed and appalled at you, and their kings shall shudder and be horribly afraid because of you when I brandish My sword before them; they shall tremble every moment, every man for his own life, in the day of your downfall.

Cuando por tu culpa haga yo que mi espada resplandezca delante de sus rostros, dejaré atónitos a muchos pueblos; el día que caigas, los reyes de esos pueblos quedarán grandemente horrorizados, y todos ellos se sobresaltarán a cada instante.»

11 F or thus says the Lord God: The sword of the king of Babylon shall come upon you.

Sí, así ha dicho Dios el Señor: «Sobre ti va a caer la espada del rey de Babilonia.

12 I will cause your multitude, your tumult, and your store to fall by the swords of the mighty—the most terrible among the nations are they all. And they shall bring to nothing the pomp and pride of Egypt, and all its multitude shall be destroyed.

Voy a hacer que tu pueblo caiga bajo la espada de poderosos guerreros. Todos ellos serán soldados de naciones poderosas, y acabarán con la soberbia de Egipto. ¡Todos tus ejércitos serán derrotados!

13 I will destroy also all its beasts from beside many and great waters, and no foot of man shall trouble them any more, nor shall the hoofs of beasts trouble them.

Nunca más ningún pie humano ni pezuña animal volverá a enturbiar las aguas de tus ríos, porque yo voy a destruir a todos tus ganados.

14 T hen will I make their waters sink down (subside, be quiet, and become clear); their rivers I will cause to run like oil, says the Lord God.

Después de eso dejaré que las aguas se asienten, para que sus ríos vuelvan a correr como el aceite. Palabra de Dios el Señor.

15 W hen I make the land of Egypt desolate, and the country is stripped and destitute of all that of which it was full when I smite all those who dwell in it, then will they know, understand, and realize that I am the Lord.

»Cuando yo haya asolado la tierra de Egipto y acabado con todos sus habitantes, y la tierra quede despojada de todo lo que en ella había, sabrán que yo soy el Señor.

16 T his is the lamentation with which they shall intone or chant the lament for her; the daughters of the nations shall chant their lament with it; over Egypt and over all her multitude, her tumult, and her wealth in every sphere shall they chant it, says the Lord God.

»Este lamento lo cantarán las hijas de las naciones. Lo cantarán por Egipto y por todos sus ejércitos.» Palabra de Dios el Señor.

17 I n the twelfth year, on the fifteenth day of the month, the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

El día quince del mes duodécimo del año duodécimo, la palabra del Señor vino a mí, y me dijo:

18 S on of man, wail over the multitude of Egypt and cast them down, even her and the daughters of the famous and majestic nations, to the netherworld, with those who go down to the pit;

«Hijo de hombre, entona un lamento por el ejército de Egipto. Arrójalo a lo profundo de la tierra, junto con los que bajan al sepulcro, y con él arroja a las hijas de las naciones poderosas.

19 W hom do you surpass in beauty? Go down and be laid with the uncircumcised (the heathen).

Se creía muy hermoso, pero ahora ha caído y yace junto con los incircuncisos.

20 T hey shall fall in the midst of those who are slain by the sword; she is delivered to the sword; they draw her down, and all her multitudes.

Ha caído entre los que murieron a filo de espada, pues a la espada fue entregado, junto con todos sus ejércitos.

21 T he strong among the mighty shall speak of out of the midst of Sheol (the place of the dead, the netherworld) with those who helped him; they are gone down; they lie still, even the uncircumcised (the heathen) slain by the sword.

Allá, en el sepulcro, hablarán de ellos los guerreros más aguerridos, y también sus aliados, los cuales quedaron tendidos junto con los incircuncisos que murieron a filo de espada.

22 A ssyria is there and all her company; their graves are round about her, all of them slain, fallen by the sword,

»Allí está Asiria con todo su ejército. A su alrededor están los sepulcros de todos ellos, pues cayeron a filo de espada.

23 W hose graves are set in the uttermost parts of the pit and whose company is round about her grave, all of them slain, fallen by the sword, who caused terror to spread in the land of the living.

Todos ellos sembraron el terror en la tierra de los vivientes, pero ahora sus sepulcros están al lado de la gran fosa; ¡su ejército es un conjunto de sepulcros!

24 E lam is there and all her multitude round about her grave, all of them slain, fallen by the sword, who have gone down uncircumcised into the netherworld, who caused their terror to spread in the land of the living and have borne their shame with those who go down to the pit.

»Allí está Elam con todo su ejército. A su lado están los sepulcros de todos ellos, pues cayeron a filo de espada. Sembraron el terror en la tierra de los vivientes, pero bajaron incircuncisos a lo más profundo de la tierra; ¡se llevaron su confusión con los que descienden al sepulcro!

25 T hey have set her a bed (a sepulcher) among the slain with all her multitude—their graves round about her, all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword, for their terror had spread in the land of the living, and they henceforth bear their shame with those who go down to the pit; they are laid in the midst of the slain.

Entre los muertos yace tendido con todo su ejército, rodeado de sepulcros, todos ellos de incircuncisos muertos a filo de espada. Sembraron el terror en la tierra de los vivientes, pero se llevaron su confusión con los que descienden al sepulcro. Y allí quedó, entre los muertos.

26 M eshech, Tubal, and all their multitude are there; their graves are round about, all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword, for they caused their terror to be spread in the land of the living.

»Allí están Mesec y Tubal, con todos sus ejércitos. A su lado están los sepulcros de todos ellos, de incircuncisos muertos a filo de espada, porque sembraron el terror en la tierra de los vivientes.

27 A nd they shall not lie with the mighty who have fallen of the uncircumcised who have gone down to Sheol (the place of the dead, the netherworld) with their weapons of war, whose swords were laid under their heads and whose iniquities are upon their bones, for they caused their terror to spread in the land of the living.

No yacen con los guerreros incircuncisos que murieron y descendieron al sepulcro con sus armas de guerra, y cuyas espadas fueron puestas debajo de su cabeza, pero sus pecados recaerán sobre sus huesos, porque estos guerreros sembraron el terror en la tierra de los vivientes.

28 B ut you shall be broken in the midst of the uncircumcised and shall lie with those who are slain with the sword.

Y tú también, Egipto, quedarás sin vida entre los incircuncisos; ¡quedarás tendido entre los que murieron a filo de espada!

29 E dom is there, her kings and all her princes, who for all their might are laid with those who were slain by the sword; they shall lie with the uncircumcised (the heathen) and with those who go down to the pit.

»Allí está Edom, con sus reyes y todos sus príncipes. Con todo su poderío, quedaron tendidos entre los que murieron a filo de espada, y ahora yacen entre los incircuncisos que descienden al sepulcro.

30 T he princes of the north are there, all of them, and all the Sidonians, who have gone down with the slain; for all the terror which they caused by their might they are put to shame, and they lie uncircumcised with those who are slain by the sword and henceforth bear their shame with those who go down to the pit.

»Allí están todos los príncipes del norte, y todos los sidonios. Aunque sembraron el terror, ahora yacen entre los muertos, entre los incircuncisos que murieron a filo de espada. Avergonzados de su poderío, ahora comparten su confusión con los que descienden al sepulcro.

31 W hen Pharaoh sees them, he will comfort himself for all his multitude—even Pharaoh and all his army, slain by the sword, says the Lord God.

»Cuando el faraón vea a todos estos, se consolará de haber perdido a todos sus ejércitos, pues el faraón y todos sus ejércitos morirán a filo de espada. Palabra de Dios el Señor.

32 F or I have put his and My terror in the land of the living, and he shall be laid in the midst of the uncircumcised (the heathen) with those slain by the sword, even Pharaoh and all his multitude, says the Lord God.

»Aunque el faraón y todo su ejército sembraron el terror en la tierra de los vivientes, también ellos quedarán tendidos, entre los incircuncisos que murieron a filo de espada.» Palabra de Dios el Señor.
