1 A nd the Lord said to Noah, Come with all your household into the ark, for I have seen you to be righteous (upright and in right standing) before Me in this generation.

Después el Señor le dijo a Noé: «Entra en el arca, tú y toda tu casa, porque en esta generación he visto que tú eres justo delante de mí.

2 O f every clean beast you shall receive and take with you seven pairs, the male and his mate, and of beasts that are not clean a pair of each kind, the male and his mate,

De todo animal limpio tomarás siete parejas, cada macho con su hembra; pero de los animales que no son limpios sólo una pareja, un macho con su hembra.

3 A lso of the birds of the air seven pairs, the male and the female, to keep seed alive over all the earth or land.

También de las aves de los cielos tomarás siete parejas, macho y hembra, para conservar viva su especie sobre la faz de la tierra.

4 F or in seven days I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights, and every living substance and thing that I have made I will destroy, blot out, and wipe away from the face of the earth.

Porque dentro de siete días yo haré llover sobre la tierra cuarenta días y cuarenta noches, y borraré de la faz de la tierra a todos los seres vivos que hice.»

5 A nd Noah did all that the Lord commanded him.

Noé hizo todo en conformidad con lo que le mandó el Señor.

6 N oah was 600 years old when the flood of waters came upon the earth or land.

Cuando el diluvio de las aguas cayó sobre la tierra, Noé tenía seiscientos años.

7 A nd Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives with him went into the ark because of the waters of the flood.

Para protegerse de ellas, Noé entró en el arca, junto con sus hijos, su mujer, y las mujeres de sus hijos.

8 O f clean animals and of animals that are not clean, and of birds and fowls, and of everything that creeps on the ground,

Los animales limpios, y los que no eran limpios, y las aves, y todo lo que se arrastra sobre la tierra

9 T here went in two and two with Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as God had commanded Noah.

entraron en el arca de dos en dos, macho y hembra, junto con Noé, tal y como Dios se lo ordenó,

10 A nd after the seven days the floodwaters came upon the earth or land.

y al séptimo día las aguas del diluvio cayeron sobre la tierra.

11 I n the year 600 of Noah’s life, in the seventeenth day of the second month, that same day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up and burst forth, and the windows and floodgates of the heavens were opened.

El día diecisiete del mes segundo del año seiscientos de la vida de Noé, se rompieron todas las fuentes del gran abismo y se abrieron las cataratas de los cielos,

12 A nd it rained upon the earth forty days and forty nights.

y llovió sobre la tierra durante cuarenta días y cuarenta noches.

13 O n the very same day Noah and Shem, Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah’s wife and the three wives of his sons with them, went into the ark,

Ese mismo día, Noé y sus hijos Sem, Cam y Jafet entraron en el arca, junto con la mujer de Noé y las tres mujeres de sus hijos,

14 T hey and every beast according to its kind, all the livestock according to their kinds, every moving thing that creeps on the land according to its kind, and every fowl according to its kind, every winged thing of every sort.

así como todos los animales salvajes según su especie, todos los animales domésticos según su especie, todos los reptiles que se arrastran sobre la tierra según su especie, toda clase de pájaros según su especie.

15 A nd they went into the ark with Noah, two and two of all flesh in which there were the breath and spirit of life.

En el arca entraron, junto con Noé, y de dos en dos, todos los seres que tenían hálito de vida.

16 A nd they that entered, male and female of all flesh, went in as God had commanded; and the Lord shut him in and closed round about him.

Los que entraron eran un macho y una hembra de cada ser vivo, tal y como Dios se lo había ordenado. Después el Señor cerró la puerta.

17 T he flood was forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased and bore up the ark, and it was lifted above the land.

El diluvio duró cuarenta días sobre la tierra, y las aguas subieron y levantaron el arca, y ésta flotaba por encima de la tierra.

18 A nd the waters became mighty and increased greatly upon the land, and the ark went upon the surface of the waters.

Tanto arreciaron y aumentaron las aguas sobre la tierra que el arca flotaba sobre la superficie de las aguas.

19 A nd the waters prevailed so exceedingly and were so mighty upon the earth that all the high hills under the whole sky were covered.

Arreciaron tanto las aguas sobre la tierra que aun los montes más altos quedaron cubiertos.

20 t he waters became fifteen cubits higher, as the high hills were covered.

Después de haber cubierto los montes, las aguas subieron todavía siete metros más.

21 A nd all flesh ceased to breathe that moved upon the earth—fowls and birds, animals, beasts, all swarming and creeping things that swarm and creep upon the land, and all mankind.

Así murieron todos los seres que pululaban sobre la tierra, tanto las aves como el ganado y las bestias, y todo reptil que se arrastraba sobre la tierra, y todos los seres humanos.

22 E verything on the dry land in whose nostrils were the breath and spirit of life died.

Murió todo lo que había en la tierra, todo lo que tenía en su nariz aliento de espíritu de vida.

23 G od destroyed (blotted out) every living thing that was upon the face of the earth; man and animals and the creeping things and the birds of the heavens were destroyed (blotted out) from the land. Only Noah remained alive, and those who were with him in the ark.

Fueron borrados de la faz de la tierra todos los seres que la habitaban, lo mismo los hombres que las bestias, los reptiles y las aves del cielo. Fueron borrados de la tierra, y sólo quedaron con vida Noé y los que estaban con él en el arca.

24 A nd the waters prevailed upon the earth or land 150 days (five months).

Y las aguas permanecieron sobre la tierra ciento cincuenta días.
