1 T he Lord spoke to Moses in the Wilderness of Sinai in the Tent of Meeting on the first day of the second month in the second year after they came out of the land of Egypt, saying,

2 T ake a census of all the males of the congregation of the Israelites by families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of names, head by head.

«Levanten el censo de toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel. Cuenten los nombres de todos y cada uno de los varones, y anótenlos por familias y por las familias de sus antepasados.

3 F rom twenty years old and upward, all in Israel who are able to go forth to war you and Aaron shall number, company by company.

Aarón y tú contarán a todos los israelitas de veinte años para arriba que puedan salir a la guerra, y los agruparán en escuadrones.

4 A nd with you there shall be a man from each tribe, each being the head of his father’s house.

Con ustedes estará un varón de cada tribu, que sea jefe en la familia de sus antepasados.

5 A nd these are the names of the men who shall attend you: Of Reuben, Elizur son of Shedeur;

»Éstos son los nombres de los varones que estarán con ustedes: »De la tribu de Rubén, Elisur hijo de Sedeur.

6 O f Simeon, Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai;

»De Simeón, Selumiel hijo de Surisaday.

7 O f Judah, Nahshon son of Amminadab;

»De Judá, Nasón hijo de Aminadab.

8 O f Issachar, Nethanel son of Zuar;

»De Isacar, Natanael hijo de Suar.

9 O f Zebulun, Eliab son of Helon;

»De Zabulón, Eliab hijo de Helón.

10 O f the sons of Joseph: of Ephraim, Elishama son of Ammihud; of Manasseh, Gamaliel son of Pedahzur;

»De los hijos de José: »De Efraín, Elisama hijo de Amiud. »De Manasés, Gamaliel hijo de Pedasur.

11 O f Benjamin, Abidan son of Gideoni;

»De Benjamín, Abidán hijo de Gedeoni.

12 O f Dan, Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai;

»De Dan, Ajiezer hijo de Amisaday.

13 O f Asher, Pagiel son of Ochran;

»De Aser, Pagiel hijo de Ocrán.

14 O f Gad, Eliasaph son of Deuel;

»De Gad, Eliasaf hijo de Deuel.

15 O f Naphtali, Ahira son of Enan.

»De Neftalí, Ajirá hijo de Enán.»

16 T hese were those chosen from the congregation, the leaders of their ancestral tribes, heads of thousands in Israel.

Éstos eran jefes de las tribus de sus padres y capitanes de los escuadrones de Israel, y fueron nombrados de entre la congregación.

17 A nd Moses and Aaron took these men who have been named,

Moisés y Aarón tomaron a estos varones designados por nombre,

18 A nd assembled all the congregation on the first day of the second month, and they declared their ancestry after their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of names from twenty years old and upward, head by head,

y el día primero del mes segundo reunieron a toda la congregación y fueron agrupando a todos por familias, según las familias de sus antepasados y según la cuenta de los nombres de los mayores de veinte años.

19 A s the Lord commanded Moses. So he numbered them in the Wilderness of Sinai.

Moisés los contó en el desierto de Sinaí, tal y como el Señor se lo había ordenado.

20 T he sons of Reuben, Israel’s firstborn, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of names, head by head, every male from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go to war:

De los hijos de Rubén, el primogénito de Israel, fueron contados todos los varones mayores de veinte años que podían salir a la guerra, cada uno por su nombre, descendencia y familia, según las familias de sus antepasados.

21 T hose of the tribe of Reuben numbered 46, 500.

Los contados de la tribu de Rubén fueron cuarenta y seis mil quinientos.

22 O f the sons of Simeon, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, those numbered of them according to the number of names, head by head, every male from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go to war:

De los hijos de Simeón, fueron contados todos los varones mayores de veinte años que podían salir a la guerra, cada uno por su nombre, descendencia y familia, según las familias de sus antepasados.

23 T hose of the tribe of Simeon numbered 59, 300.

Los contados de la tribu de Simeón fueron cincuenta y nueve mil trescientos.

24 O f the sons of Gad, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go to war:

De los hijos de Gad, fueron contados todos los varones mayores de veinte años que podían salir a la guerra, cada uno por su nombre, descendencia y familia, según las familias de sus antepasados.

25 T hose of the tribe of Gad numbered 45, 650.

Los contados de la tribu de Gad fueron cuarenta y cinco mil seiscientos cincuenta.

26 O f the sons of Judah, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and upward, all able to go to war:

De los hijos de Judá, fueron contados todos los varones mayores de veinte años que podían salir a la guerra, cada uno por su nombre, descendencia y familia, según las familias de sus antepasados.

27 T hose of the tribe of Judah numbered 74, 600.

Los contados de la tribu de Judá fueron setenta y cuatro mil seiscientos.

28 O f the sons of Issachar, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and upward, all able to go to war:

De los hijos de Isacar, fueron contados todos los varones mayores de veinte años que podían salir a la guerra, cada uno por su nombre, descendencia y familia, según las familias de sus antepasados.

40 O f the sons of Asher, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and upward, all able to go to war:

De los hijos de Aser, fueron contados todos los varones mayores de veinte años que podían salir a la guerra, cada uno por su nombre, descendencia y familia, según las familias de sus antepasados.

41 T hose of the tribe of Asher numbered 41, 500.

Los contados de la tribu de Aser fueron cuarenta y un mil quinientos.

42 O f the sons of Naphtali, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and upward, all able to go to war:

43 T hose of the tribe of Naphtali numbered 53, 400.

44 T hese were numbered by Moses and Aaron, and the leaders of Israel, twelve men, each representing his father’s house.

Éstos fueron los que contaron Moisés y Aarón, con los doce jefes de Israel, uno por cada familia de sus antepasados.

45 S o all those numbered of the Israelites, by their fathers’ houses, from twenty years old and upward, able to go to war in Israel,

Todos los israelitas mayores de veinte años que fueron contados por las familias de sus antepasados, y que podían salir a la guerra,

46 A ll who were numbered were 603, 550.

fueron un total de seiscientos tres mil quinientos cincuenta. Nombramiento de los levitas

47 B ut the Levites by their fathers’ tribe were not numbered with them.

Los levitas no fueron contados entre ellos según la tribu de sus padres,

48 F or the Lord had said to Moses,

porque el Señor habló con Moisés y le dijo:

49 O nly the tribe of Levi you shall not number in the census of the Israelites.

«La tribu de Leví será la única a la que no contarás, ni llevarás la cuenta de ellos entre los israelitas,

50 B ut appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of the Testimony, and over all its vessels and furnishings and all things that belong to it. They shall carry the tabernacle and all its furnishings, and they shall minister to it and encamp around it.

sino que pondrás a los levitas en el tabernáculo del testimonio, y a cargo de todos sus utensilios y de todo lo que le pertenece. Ellos llevarán el tabernáculo y todos sus enseres, y acamparán alrededor del tabernáculo y servirán en él.

51 W hen the tabernacle is to go forward, the Levites shall take it down, and when the tabernacle is to be pitched, the Levites shall set it up. And the excluded who approach the tabernacle shall be put to death.

Cuando el tabernáculo haya de trasladarse, los levitas lo desarmarán, y cuando haya de detenerse, los levitas lo armarán; y el extraño que se acerque será condenado a muerte.

52 T he Israelites shall pitch their tents by their companies, every man by his own camp and every man by his own standard.

Los hijos de Israel acamparán en su respectivo campamento, cada uno junto a su bandera y en el orden de sus ejércitos,

53 B ut the Levites shall encamp around the tabernacle of the Testimony, that there may be no wrath upon the congregation of the Israelites; and the Levites shall keep charge of the tabernacle of the Testimony.

pero los levitas acamparán alrededor del tabernáculo del testimonio, para que no venga la ira sobre la congregación de los hijos de Israel, y se ocuparán de cuidar el tabernáculo del testimonio.»

54 T hus did the Israelites; according to all that the Lord commanded Moses, so they did.

Y los hijos de Israel hicieron todo conforme a todo lo que el Señor le ordenó a Moisés.
