1 T he sin of Judah is written with a pen or stylus of iron and with the point of a diamond; it is engraved on the tablets of their hearts and on the horns of their altars,

«El pecado de Judá está grabado con cincel de hierro y con punta de diamante. ¡Está esculpido en la tabla de su corazón y en los cuernos de sus altares!

2 W hile their children remember their altars and their Asherim beside the green trees upon the high hills.

Sus hijos, por su parte, evocan sus altares y sus imágenes de Asera, que están junto a los árboles frondosos, en las altas colinas,

3 O My mountain in the field, I will give your wealth and all your treasures to the spoil and your high places for sin throughout all your territory.

en las montañas y en los campos. Por causa del pecado que han cometido en los lugares altos de todo tu territorio, yo entregaré al pillaje todos tus tesoros.

4 A nd you, through your own fault, will loosen your hand and discontinue from your heritage which I gave you; and I will cause you to serve your enemies in a land which you do not know, for you have kindled a fire in My anger which will burn throughout the ages.

Ustedes perderán la heredad que les entregué, y los haré esclavos de sus enemigos en un país que no conocían, porque han encendido el fuego de mi enojo, y en ascuas se mantendrá siempre.»

5 T hus says the Lord: Cursed is the strong man who trusts in and relies on frail man, making weak flesh his arm, and whose mind and heart turn aside from the Lord.

Así ha dicho el Señor: «Maldito el hombre que confía en otro hombre; que finca su fuerza en un ser humano, y aparta de mí su corazón.

6 F or he shall be like a shrub or a person naked and destitute in the desert; and he shall not see any good come, but shall dwell in the parched places in the wilderness, in an uninhabited salt land.

Ese hombre será como la retama en el desierto: Cuando el bien llegue, no lo verá; al contrario, vivirá en los sequedales del desierto, en lugares completamente despoblados.

7 b lessed is the man who believes in, trusts in, and relies on the Lord, and whose hope and confidence the Lord is.

»Pero bendito el hombre que confía en mí, que soy el Señor, y que en mí pone su confianza.

8 F or he shall be like a tree planted by the waters that spreads out its roots by the river; and it shall not see and fear when heat comes; but its leaf shall be green. It shall not be anxious and full of care in the year of drought, nor shall it cease yielding fruit.

Ese hombre es como un árbol plantado junto a los arroyos; echa sus raíces junto a las corrientes, y no se da cuenta cuando llega el calor; sus hojas siempre están verdes, y en los años de sequía no se marchita ni deja de dar fruto.»

9 T he heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly perverse and corrupt and severely, mortally sick! Who can know it ?

El corazón es engañoso y perverso, más que todas las cosas. ¿Quién puede decir que lo conoce?

10 I the Lord search the mind, I try the heart, even to give to every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings.

«Lo conozco yo, el Señor, que escudriño la mente y pongo a prueba el corazón; que pago a cada uno según su conducta y según el resultado de sus obras.»

11 L ike the partridge that gathers a brood which she did not hatch and sits on eggs which she has not laid, so is he who gets riches by unjust means and not by right. He will leave them, or they will leave him, in the midst of his days, and at his end he will be a fool.

El que amontona riquezas mal habidas se parece a la perdiz, que cubre los huevos que no puso. A la mitad de su vida pierde esas riquezas, y al final se queda como un tonto.

12 A glorious throne, set on high from the beginning, is the place of our sanctuary (the temple).

Desde el principio, nuestro santuario es un lugar excelso; ¡es el trono de la gloria!

13 O Lord, the Hope of Israel, all who forsake You shall be put to shame. They who depart from You and me shall writing upon the ground, because they have forsaken the Lord, the Fountain of living waters.

Señor, esperanza de Israel, todos los que te abandonan serán avergonzados; los que se apartan de mí serán como nombres escritos en la arena, por haber abandonado al Señor, que es manantial de aguas vivas.

14 H eal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved, for You are my praise.

¡Sáname, Señor, y recobraré la salud! ¡Sálvame, y quedaré a salvo! ¡Tú eres la razón de mi alabanza!

15 B ehold, they say to me, Where is the word of the Lord ? Let it come now!

No falta quien me diga: «¿Dónde están las amenazas del Señor? ¡Que se cumplan ya!»

16 B ut as for me, I have not sought to escape from being a shepherd after You, nor have I desired the woeful day; You know that. Whatever I said was spoken in Your presence and was from You.

Pero yo no te he seguido para incitarte a que los castigues, ni les he deseado tiempos de calamidad. Tú bien sabes lo que he dicho, pues lo dije en tu presencia.

17 B e not a terror to me; You are my refuge and my hope in the day of evil.

No me llenes de terror, pues tú eres mi refugio en momentos difíciles.

18 L et those be put to shame who persecute me, but let me not be put to shame; let them be dismayed, but let me not be dismayed. Bring on them the day of evil, and destroy them with double destruction.

No me pongas en vergüenza; más bien, pon en vergüenza a los que me persiguen. No me aterrorices; más bien, aterrorízalos a ellos. ¡Descarga sobre ellos la calamidad, y despedázalos por completo! Observancia del día de reposo

19 T hus said the Lord to me: Go and stand in the gate of the sons of the people, through which the kings of Judah enter and through which they go out, and also in all the gates of Jerusalem.

Así me ha dicho el Señor: «Ve y párate en la puerta principal de la ciudad, por donde entran y salen los reyes de Judá. Luego ve y párate en todas las puertas de Jerusalén,

20 S ay to them, Hear the word of the Lord, you kings of Judah, and all Judah, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem who enter through these gates.

y diles: “Ustedes, los reyes de Judá, y todos ustedes, habitantes de Judá y de Jerusalén, que entran por estas puertas: ¡Oigan la palabra del Señor!

21 T hus says the Lord: Take heed to yourselves and for the sake of your lives bear no burden on the Sabbath day or bring it in through the gates of Jerusalem.

El Señor ha dicho: Si en algo aprecian su vida, absténganse de llevar cargas en el día de reposo y de meterlas por las puertas de Jerusalén.

22 A nd do not carry a burden out of your houses on the Sabbath day or do any work, but keep the Sabbath day holy (set apart to the worship of God), as I commanded your fathers.

En el día de reposo no deben sacar ninguna carga de sus casas, ni hacer ningún trabajo. Más bien, deben santificar el día de reposo, tal y como se lo ordené a sus padres.

23 Y et they would not listen and obey or incline their ears; but they stiffened their necks, that they might not hear and might not receive instruction.

Pero ellos no me hicieron caso. No inclinaron su oído. Al contrario, se encapricharon y no quisieron oír ni recibir ninguna corrección.

24 B ut if you diligently listen to and obey Me, says the Lord, and bring in no burden through the gates of this city on the Sabbath day, but keep the Sabbath day holy (set apart to the worship of God), to do no work on it,

”Sin embargo, si ustedes me obedecen, y en el día de reposo no meten ninguna carga por las puertas de esta ciudad, sino que el día de reposo lo santifican y no hacen ningún trabajo en él, —Palabra del Señor

25 T hen there will enter through the gates of this city kings and princes who will sit upon the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses—the kings and their princes, the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and this city will be inhabited and last throughout the ages.

”los reyes y los príncipes que ocupan el trono de David entrarán por las puertas de esta ciudad en carros y en caballos, lo mismo que sus príncipes, los varones de Judá y los habitantes de Jerusalén. Y esta ciudad será habitada para siempre.

26 A nd people shall come from the cities of Judah and the places round about Jerusalem, from the land of Benjamin, from the lowland, from the hill country, and from the South (the Negeb), bringing burnt offerings and sacrifices, cereal offerings and frankincense, and bringing sacrifices of thanksgiving to the house of the Lord.

Muchos vendrán de las ciudades de Judá y de los alrededores de Jerusalén, así como de la tierra de Benjamín y de la Sefela, de los montes y del Néguev, y traerán a la casa del Señor holocaustos, sacrificios, ofrendas, incienso y sacrificios de alabanza.

27 B ut if you will not listen to Me to keep the Sabbath day holy (set apart to the worship of God), and not to bear a burden and enter in at the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, then I will kindle a fire in her gates, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem, and it shall not be quenched.

Pero si no me obedecen ni santifican el día de reposo, y siguen trayendo y metiendo cargas por las puertas de Jerusalén en día de reposo, yo les pondré fuego a sus puertas, y ese fuego no se apagará, sino que consumirá los palacios de Jerusalén.”»
