1 R ejoice in the Lord, O you righteous; for praise is becoming and appropriate for those who are upright.

3 S ing to Him a new song; play skillfully with a loud and joyful sound.

¡Canten al Señor un cántico nuevo! ¡Canten y toquen bien y con regocijo!

4 F or the word of the Lord is right; and all His work is done in faithfulness.

Ciertamente, la palabra del Señor es recta; todo lo hace con fidelidad.

5 H e loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the loving-kindness of the Lord.

El Señor ama la justicia y el derecho; la tierra está llena de su misericordia.

6 B y the word of the Lord were the heavens made, and all their host by the breath of His mouth.

Con su palabra, el Señor hizo los cielos; todo lo creado lo hizo con un soplo de su boca.

7 H e gathers the waters of the sea as in a bottle; He puts the deeps in storage places.

El Señor junta el agua del mar en una vasija, y pone en un depósito las profundidades del mar.

8 L et all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.

¡Que toda la tierra tema al Señor! ¡Que le teman todos los habitantes del mundo!

9 F or He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.

El Señor habló, y todo fue creado; el Señor ordenó, y todo apareció.

10 T he Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nought; He makes the thoughts and plans of the peoples of no effect.

El Señor anula los planes de las naciones; frustra las maquinaciones de los pueblos.

11 T he counsel of the Lord stands forever, the thoughts of His heart through all generations.

Pero los planes y pensamientos del Señor permanecen por todas las generaciones.

12 B lessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people He has chosen as His heritage.

Dichosa la nación cuyo Dios es el Señor, ¡el pueblo que él escogió como su propiedad!

13 T he Lord looks from heaven, He beholds all the sons of men;

El Señor observa desde los cielos; desde allí vigila a toda la humanidad.

14 F rom His dwelling place He looks upon all the inhabitants of the earth—

Desde el lugar de su residencia contempla a todos los habitantes de la tierra.

15 H e Who fashions the hearts of them all, Who considers all their doings.

El Señor formó el corazón de todos ellos, y pondera atentamente todos sus hechos.

16 N o king is saved by the great size and power of his army; a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.

El rey no se salva por tener un gran ejército, ni se escapa el valiente por tener mucha fuerza.

17 A horse is devoid of value for victory; neither does he deliver any by his great power.

Ningún caballo es garantía de salvación; y aunque tiene mucha fuerza, no salva a nadie.

18 B ehold, the Lord’s eye is upon those who fear Him, who wait for Him and hope in His mercy and loving-kindness,

El Señor mira atentamente a quienes le temen, a quienes confían en su misericordia,

19 T o deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine.

para librarlos de la muerte y darles vida en tiempos de escasez.

20 O ur inner selves wait for the Lord; He is our Help and our Shield.

Con el alma esperamos en el Señor, pues él es nuestra ayuda y nuestro escudo.

21 F or in Him does our heart rejoice, because we have trusted (relied on and been confident) in His holy name.

Por él se alegra nuestro corazón; confiamos en su santo nombre.

22 L et Your mercy and loving-kindness, O Lord, be upon us, in proportion to our waiting and hoping for You.

Señor, sea tu misericordia sobre nosotros, tal y como lo esperamos de ti.
