1 O Lord God, You to Whom vengeance belongs, O God, You to Whom vengeance belongs, shine forth!

2 R ise up, O Judge of the earth; render to the proud a fit compensation!

Tú eres el Juez de la tierra; ¡ven y dales su merecido a los soberbios!

3 L ord, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph and exult?

¿Hasta cuándo, Señor, hasta cuando se regocijarán los impíos?

4 T hey pour out arrogant words, speaking hard things; all the evildoers boast loftily.

¿Hasta cuándo esos malhechores seguirán jactándose de sus crímenes?

5 T hey crush Your people, O Lord, and afflict Your heritage.

A tu pueblo, Señor, lo oprimen; a los que son tuyos los afligen.

6 T hey slay the widow and the transient stranger and murder the unprotected orphan.

A las viudas y a los extranjeros los matan; a los huérfanos les quitan la vida,

7 Y et they say, The Lord does not see, neither does the God of Jacob notice it.

y todavía dicen: «El Señor no nos verá; el Dios de Jacob no se dará cuenta.»

8 C onsider and understand, you stupid ones among the people! And you fools, when will you become wise?

¡Entiéndanlo bien, gente necia e insensata! ¿Cuándo van a actuar con sabiduría?

9 H e Who planted the ear, shall He not hear? He Who formed the eye, shall He not see?

¿Acaso no oirá el que hizo los oídos? ¿Acaso no verá el que hizo los ojos?

10 H e Who disciplines and instructs the nations, shall He not punish, He Who teaches man knowledge?

¿No va a reprender el que castiga a las naciones? ¿Acaso no sabe de ciencia el maestro del género humano?

11 T he Lord knows the thoughts of man, that they are vain (empty and futile—only a breath).

El Señor conoce la mente humana, y sabe que sólo piensa tonterías.

12 B lessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man whom You discipline and instruct, O Lord, and teach out of Your law,

Señor, ¡cuán dichosos son aquellos a quienes corriges e instruyes en tu ley!

13 T hat You may give him power to keep himself calm in the days of adversity, until the pit of corruption is dug for the wicked.

En tiempos difíciles les das tranquilidad, mientras que para el impío se cava una fosa.

14 F or the Lord will not cast off nor spurn His people, neither will He abandon His heritage.

Tú, Señor, no abandonas ni desamparas al pueblo que has hecho tuyo.

15 F or justice will return to the righteous, and all the upright in heart will follow it.

La justicia volverá a ser justicia, y los de recto corazón irán tras ella.

16 W ho will rise up for me against the evildoers? Who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?

¿Quién me defenderá de los malvados? ¿Quién se pondrá de mi parte contra los inicuos?

17 U nless the Lord had been my help, I would soon have dwelt in silence.

Si el Señor no me ayudara, pronto mi ser se quedaría en silencio.

18 W hen I said, My foot is slipping, Your mercy and loving-kindness, O Lord, held me up.

Cuando dije: «Estoy a punto de caer», tú, Señor, por tu bondad me sostuviste.

19 I n the multitude of my thoughts within me, Your comforts cheer and delight my soul!

Cuando me vi abrumado por la angustia, tú me brindaste consuelo y alegría.

20 S hall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with You—they who frame and hide their unrighteous doings under law?

Tú no eres amigo de esos reyes inicuos que con la ley en la mano violan la ley.

21 T hey band themselves together against the life of the righteous and condemn the innocent to death.

Ellos conspiran contra la vida del justo, y condenan a muerte al que es inocente.

22 B ut the Lord has become my High Tower and Defense, and my God the Rock of my refuge.

Pero tú, Señor, eres mi refugio; eres mi Dios y la roca en que confío.

23 A nd He will turn back upon them their own iniquity and will wipe them out by means of their own wickedness; the Lord our God will wipe them out.

Tú les devolverás su iniquidad, y los destruirás con su propia maldad. ¡Tú, Señor y Dios nuestro, los destruirás!
