1 A nd the whole congregation of the Israelites assembled at Shiloh and set up the Tent of Meeting there; and the land was subdued before them.

Después de someter a la tierra, toda la comunidad de los hijos de Israel se reunió en Silo, y allí levantaron el tabernáculo de reunión.

2 A nd there remained among the Israelites seven tribes who had not yet divided their inheritance.

Pero siete tribus de los hijos de Israel se habían quedado sin recibir tierras,

3 J oshua asked the Israelites, How long will you be slack to go in and possess the land which the Lord, the God of your fathers, has given you?

así que Josué dijo: «¿Hasta cuándo van a continuar con su negligencia? ¿Cuánto más se van a tardar para tomar posesión de la tierra que el Señor, el Dios de nuestros padres, les ha entregado?

4 P rovide three men from each tribe, and I will send them to go through the land and write a description of it according to their inheritances; then they shall return to me.

Escojan a tres hombres de cada tribu, para que vayan y recorran la tierra, y que vuelvan luego para que me informen cómo se puede dividir en partes.

5 A nd they shall divide it into seven parts. Judah shall remain in its territory on the south and the house of Joseph shall remain in its territory on the north.

Que dividan las tierras en siete. Judá tendrá su territorio al sur, y los de la casa de José lo tendrán al norte.

6 Y ou shall describe the land in seven divisions, and bring the description here to me, that I may cast lots for you here before the Lord our God.

Deben distribuir la tierra en siete partes, y traerme entonces su descripción, para que yo haga el sorteo ante el Señor nuestro Dios.

7 B ut the Levites have no portion among you, for the priesthood of the Lord is their inheritance. Gad and Reuben and half the tribe of Manasseh have received their inheritance east of the Jordan, which Moses the servant of the Lord gave them.

Los levitas no tomarán parte en el sorteo porque a ellos les ha tocado el sacerdocio del Señor Éste les pertenece sólo a ellos. En cuanto a Gad y Rubén, y la media tribu de Manasés, ellos ya han recibido su parte en la ribera oriental del Jordán. Moisés mismo, el siervo del Señor, se la dio.»

8 S o the men arose and went, and Joshua charged them saying, Go and walk through the land and describe it and come again to me, and I will cast lots for you here before the Lord in Shiloh.

Cuando los que fueron escogidos para delinear la tierra estuvieron listos, Josué les dijo: «Vayan, recorran la tierra y tomen nota de lo que vean. Cuando regresen y me traigan los detalles, yo la sortearé aquí en Silo, ante el Señor nuestro Dios.»

9 A nd the men went and passed through the land and described it by cities in seven portions in a book; and they came again to Joshua to the camp at Shiloh.

Aquellos hombres se fueron y recorrieron la tierra, tomando nota de las ciudades y repartiéndolas en siete partes. Esto lo anotaron en un libro, y cuando volvieron fueron a ver a Josué, que estaba en el campamento de Silo.

10 J oshua cast lots for them in Shiloh before the Lord, and there divided the land to the Israelites, to each his portion.

Josué tomó el libro y allí, en Silo, ante el Señor, sorteó las tierras anotadas y las repartió por partes a los hijos de Israel.

11 A nd the lot of the Benjamites came up according to their families; and the territory of their lot fell between the tribes of Judah and Joseph.

Cuando terminó el sorteo, a la tribu de los hijos de Benjamín se le adjudicó un territorio conforme al número de sus familias, el cual quedó entre los hijos de Judá y los hijos de José.

12 O n the north side their boundary began at the Jordan; then it went up to the shoulder of Jericho on the north and up through the hill country westward and ended at the Beth-aven wilderness.

Su frontera empezaba en el lado norte del Jordán, y subía hacia el lado norte de Jericó; seguía al monte hacia el occidente, y salía al desierto de Bet Avén.

13 T hen the boundary passed over southward toward Luz, to the shoulder of Luz (that is, Bethel); then it went down to Ataroth-addar by the mountain that lies south of Lower Beth-horon.

De allí pasaba en dirección a Luz (que es Betel) por el lado sur, y de Atarot Adar descendía al monte que está al sur de Bet Jorón la de abajo.

14 T he boundary extended from there, and turning about on the western side southward from the mountain that lies to the south opposite Beth-horon, it ended at Kiriath-baal (that is, Kiriath-jearim), a city of the tribe of Judah. This formed the western side.

Luego torcía hacia el oeste por el lado sur del monte que está delante de Bet Jorón, y por el lado occidental venía a salir a Quiriat Baal (que es Quiriat Yearín), la ciudad de los hijos de Judá.

15 T he southern side began at the edge of Kiriath-jearim, and the boundary went on westward to the spring of the waters of Nephtoah.

Por el sur partía del extremo de Quiriat Yearín, salía al oeste de los manantiales de Neftoa,

16 T hen the boundary went down to the edge of the mountain overlooking the Valley of Ben-hinnom, which is at the north end of the Valley of Rephaim; and it descended to the Valley of Hinnom, south of the shoulder of the Jebusites, and went on down to En-rogel.

y descendía a la parte final del monte que está frente al valle de Ben Jinón, al norte del valle de Refayin; descendía luego al valle de Jinón, al lado sur de los jebuseos, y de allí bajaba a la fuente de Roguel.

17 T hen it bent toward the north and went on to En-shemesh and on to Geliloth, which was opposite the ascent of Adummim, and went down to the Stone of Bohan son of Reuben.

Luego se inclinaba hacia el norte y salía a Ensemes, y de allí a Gelilot, que estaba frente a la subida de Adumín, y descendía a la piedra de Boán Ben Rubén;

18 A nd it went on to the north of the shoulder -Arabah and down to the Arabah.

pasaba por la cuesta que está frente al Arabá, y descendía al Arabá.

19 T hen the boundary passed along to the north of the shoulder of Beth-hoglah and ended at the northern bay of the Salt Sea, at the south end of the Jordan. This was the southern border.

La frontera pasaba al norte de Bet Joglá, y terminaba en la bahía norte del Mar Salado, en el extremo sur del Jordán. Ésta era la frontera sur.

20 A nd the Jordan was its boundary on the east side. This was the inheritance of the sons of Benjamin by their boundaries round about, according to their families.

Por el costado oriental, el río Jordán era el límite. Éste fue el territorio dado a los hijos de Benjamín, con las fronteras circundantes, conforme al número de sus familias.

21 N ow the cities of the tribe of Benjamin according to families were: Jericho, Beth-hoglah, Emek-keziz,

Las ciudades de la tribu de los hijos de Benjamín, conforme al número de sus familias, fueron: Jericó, Bet Joglá, el valle de Casis,

22 B eth-arabah, Zemaraim, Bethel,

Bet Arabá, Semarayin, Betel,

23 A vvim, Parah, Ophrah,

Avín, Pará, Ofrá,

24 C hephar-ammoni, Ophni, and Geba; twelve cities with their villages;

Quefar Hamoní, Hofní y Geba. Doce ciudades con sus aldeas,

25 G ibeon, Ramah, Beeroth,

además de Gabaón, Ramá, Berot,

26 M izpah, Chephirah, Mozah,

Mispá, Cafira, Mosá,

Requén, Irpel, Tarala,

28 Z elah, Haeleph, the Jebusite —that is, Jerusalem—Gibeah, and Kiriath-; fourteen cities with their villages. This is the inheritance of the tribe of Benjamin according to their families.

Selá, Elef, Jebús (que es Jerusalén), Gabaa y Quiriat. Catorce ciudades con sus aldeas. Ésta fue la parte que les tocó a los hijos de Benjamín, conforme al número de sus familias.
