1 D eliver me from my enemies, O my God; defend and protect me from those who rise up against me.

Dios mío, ¡líbrame de mis enemigos! ¡Ponme a salvo de los que me atacan!

2 D eliver me from and lift me above those who work evil and save me from bloodthirsty men.

¡Líbrame de los que cometen iniquidad! ¡Sálvame de esa gente sanguinaria!

3 F or, behold, they lie in wait for my life; fierce and mighty men are banding together against me, not for my transgression nor for any sin of mine, O Lord.

Gente poderosa se ha juntado contra mí, y me acecha para quitarme la vida. Y no es, Señor, por faltas o pecados míos;

4 T hey run and prepare themselves, though there is no fault in me; rouse Yourself to meet and help me, and see!

presurosos, se disponen a atacarme sin que yo haya cometido ningún delito. ¡Míralos! ¡Despierta y ven a mi encuentro!

5 Y ou, O Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel, arise to visit all the nations; spare none and be not merciful to any who treacherously plot evil. Selah!

Tú eres el Señor, el Dios de los ejércitos; ¡tú eres el Dios de Israel! ¡Despierta y castiga a todas las naciones! ¡No tengas misericordia alguna de todos esos malvados y rebeldes!

6 T hey return at evening, they howl and snarl like dogs, and go about the city.

Llegan por la noche, ladrando como perros, y rondan por toda la ciudad.

7 B ehold, they belch out with their mouths; swords are in their lips, for who, they think, hears us?

De su hocico salen gruñidos; con sus fauces lanzan hirientes puñales, mientras mascullan: «¿Y quién va a oírnos?»

8 B ut You, O Lord, will laugh at them; You will hold all the nations in derision.

Pero tú, Señor, te burlarás de ellos; ¡dejarás en ridículo a todas las naciones!

9 O my Strength, I will watch and give heed to You and sing praises; for God is my Defense (my Protector and High Tower).

Con tu poder, Dios mío, me siento protegido; ¡tú, Dios mío, eres mi defensa!

10 M y God in His mercy and steadfast love will meet me; God will let me look on my enemies (those who lie in wait for me).

Tú, Dios misericordioso, vienes a mi encuentro para hacerme ver derrotados a mis enemigos.

11 S lay them not, lest my people forget; scatter them by Your power and make them wander to and fro, and bring them down, O Lord our Shield!

¡Pero no los mates, Señor, escudo nuestro, no vaya a ser que mi pueblo se olvide! ¡Mejor humíllalos y dispérsalos con tu poder!

12 F or the sin of their mouths and the words of their lips, let them even be trapped and taken in their pride, and for the cursing and lying which they utter.

¡Hazlos prisioneros de su soberbia porque pecan en todo lo que dicen, porque sólo profieren maldiciones y mentiras!

13 C onsume them in wrath, consume them so that they shall be no more; and let them know unto the ends of the earth that God rules over Jacob (Israel). Selah!

¡Destrúyelos con tu furor! ¡Destrúyelos, y que dejen de existir! ¡Que sepan todos que Dios gobierna en Jacob y hasta los confines de la tierra!

14 A nd at evening let them return; let them howl and snarl like dogs, and go prowling about the city.

Volverán por la noche, ladrando como perros, y rondarán por toda la ciudad.

15 L et them wander up and down for food and tarry all night if they are not satisfied (not getting their fill).

Vagarán por las calles, buscando qué comer, pero no se saciarán, y pasarán la noche aullando.

16 B ut I will sing of Your mighty strength and power; yes, I will sing aloud of Your mercy and loving-kindness in the morning; for You have been to me a defense (a fortress and a high tower) and a refuge in the day of my distress.

Por mi parte, yo alabaré con salmos tu poder; por la mañana proclamaré tu misericordia, porque tú eres para mí una fortaleza, ¡eres mi refugio en momentos de angustia!

17 U nto You, O my Strength, I will sing praises; for God is my Defense, my Fortress, and High Tower, the God Who shows me mercy and steadfast love.

A ti y a tu poder cantaré salmos, porque tú, Dios mío, eres mi fortaleza; ¡eres mi Dios de misericordia!
