1 O Lord God, You to Whom vengeance belongs, O God, You to Whom vengeance belongs, shine forth!

O Perëndi i hakmarrjes, o Zot, Perëndi i hakmarrjeve, shkëlqe.

2 R ise up, O Judge of the earth; render to the proud a fit compensation!

Çohu, o gjykatës i tokës, dhe jepu shpërblimin mëndjemëdhenjve.

3 L ord, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph and exult?

Deri kur të pabesët, o Zot, deri kur të pabesët do të triumfojnë?

4 T hey pour out arrogant words, speaking hard things; all the evildoers boast loftily.

Ata vjellin fjalë dhe mbajnë fjalime të paturpshme; të gjithë ata që kryejnë paudhësi flasin me arrogancë.

5 T hey crush Your people, O Lord, and afflict Your heritage.

Ata marrin nëpër këmbë popullin tënd, o Zot, dhe shtypin trashëgiminë tënde.

6 T hey slay the widow and the transient stranger and murder the unprotected orphan.

Vrasin gruan e ve dhe të huajin, dhe vrasin jetimët,

7 Y et they say, The Lord does not see, neither does the God of Jacob notice it.

dhe thonë: "Zoti nuk shikon, Perëndia i Jakobit nuk kupton".

8 C onsider and understand, you stupid ones among the people! And you fools, when will you become wise?

Kërkoni të kuptoni, o njerëz të pamend midis popullit; dhe ju budallenj, kur do të bëheni të zgjuar?

9 H e Who planted the ear, shall He not hear? He Who formed the eye, shall He not see?

Ai që ka vënë veshin, a nuk dëgjon? Ai që ka formuar syrin, a nuk shikon?

10 H e Who disciplines and instructs the nations, shall He not punish, He Who teaches man knowledge?

Ai që ndreq kombet, a nuk do t’i dënojë ata, ai që i mëson diturinë njeriut?

11 T he Lord knows the thoughts of man, that they are vain (empty and futile—only a breath).

Zoti i njeh mendimet e njeriut dhe e di që nuk janë veçse kotësi.

12 B lessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man whom You discipline and instruct, O Lord, and teach out of Your law,

Lum ai njeri që ti ndreq, o Zot, dhe që ti mëson sipas ligjit tënd,

13 T hat You may give him power to keep himself calm in the days of adversity, until the pit of corruption is dug for the wicked.

për t’i dhënë prehje në ditët e fatkeqësisë, deri sa t’i hapet gropa të pabesit.

14 F or the Lord will not cast off nor spurn His people, neither will He abandon His heritage.

Sepse Zoti nuk ka për të hedhur poshtë popullin e tij dhe nuk ka për të braktisur trashëgiminë e tij.

15 F or justice will return to the righteous, and all the upright in heart will follow it.

Gjykimi do të mbështetet përsëri mbi drejtësinë, dhe tërë ata që janë të drejtë nga zemra do t’i shkojnë pas.

16 W ho will rise up for me against the evildoers? Who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?

Kush do të ngrihet në favorin tim kundër njerëzve të këqij? Kush do të më dalë krah kundër atyre që kryejnë paudhësi?

17 U nless the Lord had been my help, I would soon have dwelt in silence.

Në qoftë se Zoti nuk do të më kishte ndihmuar, do të kisha përfunduar shpejt në vendin e heshtjes.

18 W hen I said, My foot is slipping, Your mercy and loving-kindness, O Lord, held me up.

Kur thashë: "Këmba ime ngurron," mirësia jote, o Zot, më ka përkrahur.

19 I n the multitude of my thoughts within me, Your comforts cheer and delight my soul!

Kur një numër i madh shqetësimesh më mbysnin, përdëllimet e tua më jepnin zemër.

20 S hall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with You—they who frame and hide their unrighteous doings under law?

Do të jetë vallë aleati yt gjykata e padrejtë, që thur padrejtësi në emër të ligjit?

21 T hey band themselves together against the life of the righteous and condemn the innocent to death.

Ata mblidhen tok kundër të drejtit dhe dënojnë gjakun e pafajshëm.

22 B ut the Lord has become my High Tower and Defense, and my God the Rock of my refuge.

Por Zoti është kështjella ime dhe Perëndia im është kalaja në të cilën gjej strehë.

23 A nd He will turn back upon them their own iniquity and will wipe them out by means of their own wickedness; the Lord our God will wipe them out.

Ai do të lëshojë mbi ta ligësinë e tyre dhe do t’i bëjë të vdesin për shkak të paudhësisë së tyre; Zoti, Perëndia ynë, do t’i shkatërrojë.
