1 R ejoice in the Lord, O you righteous; for praise is becoming and appropriate for those who are upright.

Voi, cei drepţi, bucuraţi-vă în Domnul, căci lauda se potriveşte celor integri!

2 G ive thanks to the Lord with the lyre; sing praises to Him with the harp of ten strings.

Lăudaţi-L pe Domnul din liră, cântaţi-I din harfa cu zece corzi!

3 S ing to Him a new song; play skillfully with a loud and joyful sound.

Cântaţi-I un cântec nou, sunaţi frumos din corzi şi strigaţi de bucurie!

4 F or the word of the Lord is right; and all His work is done in faithfulness.

Cuvântul Domnului este drept şi toate lucrările Lui mărturisesc despre credincioşia Sa.

5 H e loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the loving-kindness of the Lord.

El iubeşte dreptatea şi judecata; îndurarea Domnului umple pământul.

6 B y the word of the Lord were the heavens made, and all their host by the breath of His mouth.

Cerurile au fost întocmite prin Cuvântul Domnului şi toată oştirea lor – prin suflarea gurii Sale.

7 H e gathers the waters of the sea as in a bottle; He puts the deeps in storage places.

El strânge apele mării într-o grămadă, pune adâncurile în cămări.

8 L et all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.

Să se teamă de Domnul, toţi cei de pe pământ! Să le fie frică de El, tuturor locuitorilor lumii!

9 F or He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.

Căci El zice şi ce zice ia fiinţă! El porunceşte şi ce porunceşte rămâne în picioare!

10 T he Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nought; He makes the thoughts and plans of the peoples of no effect.

Domnul împiedică hotărârile neamurilor şi zădărniceşte planurile popoarelor,

11 T he counsel of the Lord stands forever, the thoughts of His heart through all generations.

dar hotărârile Domnului rămân pe vecie, şi planurile inimii Sale dăinuiesc din generaţie în generaţie.

12 B lessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people He has chosen as His heritage.

Ferice de poporul al cărui Dumnezeu este Domnul, poporul pe care Şi l-a ales drept moştenire!

13 T he Lord looks from heaven, He beholds all the sons of men;

Domnul priveşte din ceruri, se uită la toţi fiii oamenilor.

14 F rom His dwelling place He looks upon all the inhabitants of the earth—

Din lăcaşul Locuinţei Sale, El priveşte spre toţi locuitorii pământului.

15 H e Who fashions the hearts of them all, Who considers all their doings.

El, Care a întocmit sufletul tuturor, ia aminte la toate faptele acestora.

16 N o king is saved by the great size and power of his army; a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.

Regele nu este izbăvit prin mărimea oştirii lui, nici războinicul nu este scăpat prin mărimea puterii sale.

17 A horse is devoid of value for victory; neither does he deliver any by his great power.

Calul este o nădejde zadarnică pentru eliberare şi toată vlaga lui nu poate izbăvi.

18 B ehold, the Lord’s eye is upon those who fear Him, who wait for Him and hope in His mercy and loving-kindness,

Iată că ochiul Domnului veghează asupra celor ce se tem de El şi asupra celor ce nădăjduiesc în îndurarea Sa,

19 T o deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine.

ca să le scape sufletul de la moarte şi să-i ţină în viaţă în mijlocul foametei.

20 O ur inner selves wait for the Lord; He is our Help and our Shield.

Sufletele noastre tânjesc după Domnul! El este ajutorul şi scutul nostru,

21 F or in Him does our heart rejoice, because we have trusted (relied on and been confident) in His holy name.

căci în El se bucură inimile noastre, fiindcă ne încredem în Numele Lui cel sfânt!

22 L et Your mercy and loving-kindness, O Lord, be upon us, in proportion to our waiting and hoping for You.

Doamne, fie îndurarea Ta peste noi, pe măsura nădejdii noastre în Tine!
