1 C oncerning Moab: Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Woe to Nebo, for it is laid waste! Kiriathaim is put to shame and taken; Misgab is put to shame, broken down, and crushed.

Cu privire la Moab: „Aşa vorbeşte Domnul Oştirilor, Dumnezeul lui Israel: «Vai de Nebo, căci va fi distrus! Chiriatayim va fi acoperit de ruşine şi cucerit! Fortăreaţa va fi acoperită de ruşine şi zdrobită!

2 T he glory of Moab is no more; in Heshbon they planned evil against her, saying, Come, let us cut her off from being a nation. You also, O Madmen, shall be brought to silence; the sword shall pursue you.

Moab nu va mai fi lăudat; la Heşbon se pune la cale nimicirea lui: ‘Să mergem şi să-l distrugem dintre neamuri!’ Şi tu, Madmen, vei fi redus la tăcere, căci sabia te va urmări!

3 T he sound of a cry from Horonaim, desolation and great destruction!

Un strigăt se aude din Horonaim: ‘Este prăpăd şi mare distrugere!’

4 M oab is destroyed; her little ones have caused a cry to be heard.

Moab va fi zdrobit; chiar şi cei mici ai lui vor striga.

5 F or the ascent of Luhith will be climbed with continual weeping; for on the descent of Horonaim they have heard the distress of the cry of destruction.

Ei merg pe urcuşul spre Luhit, plângând fără încetare, căci jos, în Horonaim, au auzit strigătul de cotropire al duşmanilor.

6 F lee! Save your lives! But they shall be like a destitute and forsaken person in the wilderness.

Fugiţi! Scăpaţi-vă viaţa, devenind ca un tufiş din pustie!

7 F or because you have trusted in your works and in your treasures, you shall also be taken. And Chemosh shall go into captivity, his priests and his princes together.

Veţi fi capturaţi pentru că vă încredeţi în lucrările şi în bogăţiile voastre. Chemoş va merge în captivitate împreună cu preoţii şi conducătorii lui.

8 A nd the destroyer shall come upon every city; no city shall escape. The valley also shall perish, and the plain shall be devastated, as the Lord has said.

Pustiitorul va veni împotriva fiecărei cetăţi şi nici una nu va scăpa. Valea va deveni o ruină şi podişul va fi distrus, căci Domnul a vorbit.

9 G ive wings to Moab, for she will flee and get away; her cities will be desolate, without any to dwell in them.

Presăraţi sare asupra Moabului, căci va fi pustiit! Cetăţile lui vor deveni o pustie şi nimeni nu va mai locui în ele.

10 C ursed be he who does the work of the Lord negligently; and cursed be he who keeps back his sword from blood.

Blestemat să fie cel ce face cu neglijenţă lucrarea Domnului! Blestemat să fie cel ce îşi opreşte sabia de la măcel!

11 M oab has been at ease from his youth, and he has settled on his lees and has not been drawn off from one vessel to another, neither has he gone into exile. Therefore his taste remains in him, and his scent has not changed.

Încă din tinereţea lui, Moabul a fost liniştit, ca vinul lăsat în drojdia lui; nu a fost vărsat dintr-un vas în altul, nu a fost dus în captivitate. De aceea i s-a păstrat gustul şi nu i s-a schimbat aroma.

12 T herefore behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I shall send to tilters who shall tilt him up and shall empty his vessels and break his bottles (earthenware) in pieces.

Dar, iată, vin zile, zice Domnul, când voi trimite oameni să-l verse din vasul lui, şi ei îl vor vărsa; îi vor goli vasele şi-i vor sparge ulcioarele.

13 A nd Moab shall be ashamed of Chemosh, as the house of Israel was ashamed of Bethel, their confidence.

Atunci Moabului îi va fi ruşine cu Chemoş, aşa cum şi Casei lui Israel i-a fost ruşine, când şi-a pus încrederea în viţelul de la Betel.

14 H ow can you say, We are heroes and mighty men in the war?

Cum puteţi să ziceţi: ‘Noi suntem viteji, bărbaţi curajoşi în luptă!’?

15 M oab has been made desolate, and his cities have gone up; and his chosen young men have gone down to the slaughter, says the King, Whose name is the Lord of hosts.

Moabul va fi distrus şi cetăţile lui vor fi invadate. Tinerii lui aleşi vor fi înjunghiaţi, zice Împăratul, al Cărui Nume este Domnul Oştirilor.

16 T he destruction of Moab is coming near, and his calamity hastens swiftly.

Pieirea Moabului este aproape, nenorocirea lui vine în grabă mare.

17 B emoan him, all you who are around him, and all you who know his name; say, How broken is the mighty scepter and the splendid rod!

Bociţi-l, voi, toţi cei din jurul lui, toţi aceia care-i cunoaşteţi faima! Ziceţi: ‘Cum a fost sfărâmat sceptrul cel puternic, toiagul cel glorios!’

18 C ome down from your glory, you inhabitant of the Daughter of Dibon, and sit on the ground among the thirsty! For the destroyer of Moab is advancing against you; he will destroy your strongholds.

Coboară-te din slava ta şi aşază-te pe pământ uscat, locuitor al fiicei Dibonului, căci pustiitorul Moabului se va ridica împotriva ta şi-ţi va distruge fortăreţele!

19 O inhabitant of Aroer, stand by the way and watch! Ask him who flees and her who escapes, What has happened?

Stai lângă drum şi pândeşte, locuitoare a Aroerului! Întreabă pe cel ce fuge şi pe cea care-şi scapă viaţa, întreabă: ‘Ce se întâmplă?’

20 M oab is put to shame, for she is broken down. Wail and cry out! Tell by the Arnon that Moab is laid waste (destroyed).

Moabul este acoperit de ruşine, căci este zdrobit. Bociţi şi strigaţi tare! Vestiţi de-a lungul Arnonului că Moabul este distrus.

21 J udgment has come upon the land of the plain—upon Holon and Jahzah and Mephaath,

A venit judecata împotriva ţării din podiş, împotriva Holonului, Iahţei şi Mefaatului,

22 A nd upon Dibon and Nebo and Beth-diblathaim,

împotriva Dibonului, Neboului şi Bet-Diblataimului,

23 A nd upon Kiriathaim and Beth-gamul and Beth-meon,

împotriva Chiriatayimului, Bet-Gamulului şi Bet-Meonului,

24 A nd upon Kerioth and Bozrah—and all the cities of the land of Moab, far and near.

împotriva Cheriotului, împotriva Boţrei, împotriva tuturor cetăţilor din ţara Moabului, de departe sau de aproape.

25 T he horn (strength) of Moab is cut off, and his arm is shattered, says the Lord.

Puterea Moabului este tăiată şi braţul lui este zdrobit, zice Domnul.

26 M ake him drunk, for he has magnified himself against the Lord. Moab also shall splash in his vomit, and he too shall be held in derision.

Îmbătaţi-l, căci s-a fălit împotriva Domnului! Tăvălească-se Moab în vărsătura lui şi să ajungă o pricină de râs!

27 F or was not Israel derision to you? Was he found among thieves—since whenever you speak of him you wag your head ?

N-a fost Israel batjocorit de tine? A fost el prins printre hoţi de-ţi clatini capul în semn de batjocură ori de câte ori vorbeşti despre el?

28 O you inhabitants of Moab, leave the cities and dwell among the rocks, and be like the dove that makes her nest in the walls of the yawning ravine.

Părăsiţi cetăţile şi locuiţi printre stânci, locuitori ai Moabului! Fiţi ca un porumbel care-şi face cuib chiar la marginile unui defileu!

29 W e have heard of the pride of Moab, the extremely proud one—his loftiness, his arrogance, his conceit, and the haughtiness of his heart.

Noi am auzit de mândria lui Moab, de aroganţa lui peste măsură de mare şi de înfumurarea lui, de mândria, de semeţirea şi de trufia inimii lui.

30 I know his insolent wrath, says the Lord, and the nothingness of his boastings and his deeds; they are false and have accomplished nothing.

Cunosc neruşinarea lui, zice Domnul, dar este zadarnică, şi lăudăroşenia lui nu duce la nimic.

31 T herefore I will wail over Moab, and I will cry out over the whole of Moab. Over the men of Kir-heres (Kir-hareseth) there will be sighing and mourning.

De aceea, plâng pentru Moab, plâng cu glas tare pentru întregul Moab şi gem pentru toţi oamenii din Chir-Hareset.

32 O vines of Sibmah, I weep for you more than the weeping of Jazer. Your tendrils have gone over the sea, reaching even to Jazer. The destroyer has fallen upon your summer fruit harvest and your crop of grapes.

Plâng pentru tine, vie din Sibma, mai mult decât pentru Iazer. Ramurile tale se întindeau până dincolo de mare, ajungând până la Iazer, dar pustiitorul s-a năpustit asupra fructelor tale de vară şi asupra strugurilor tăi.

33 J oy and gladness are taken away from the fruitful orchards and fields and from the land of Moab. And I have made the juice to fail from what is pressed out in the vats; no one treads with shouting. Their shouting is no shouting.

S-a dus bucuria şi veselia din livezile şi de pe câmpiile Moabului. Am secat vinul din teascuri şi nimeni nu mai calcă teascul cu strigăte de bucurie. Se aud strigăte de război, nu strigăte de bucurie.

34 F rom the cry of Heshbon even to Elealeh even to Jahaz have they uttered their voice, from Zoar even to Horonaim and Eglath-shelishiyah, for even the waters of Nimrim have become desolations.

Sunetul strigătelor lor răsună din Heşbon până la Eleale şi Iahaţ, din Ţoar până la Horonaim şi Eglat-Şelişia, căci până şi apele Nimrimului sunt secate.

35 M oreover, I will cause to cease in Moab, says the Lord, the one who ascends and offers in the high place and the one who burns incense to his gods.

În Moab voi face ca oamenii să înceteze să mai aducă jertfe pe înălţimi şi să mai ardă tămâie în cinstea zeilor lor, zice Domnul.

36 T herefore My heart moans and sighs for Moab like flutes, and My heart moans and sighs like flutes for the men of Kir-heres (Kir-hareseth); therefore the abundant riches they gained has perished.

De aceea, inima mea jeleşte ca un fluier pentru Moab, jeleşte ca un fluier pentru oamenii din Chir-Hareset, căci averile pe care le-au strâns au pierit.

37 F or every head is shaven bald and every beard cut off: upon all the hands are cuts (slashes) and upon the loins is sackcloth.

Toate capetele sunt rase, toate bărbile sunt tăiate; toate mâinile au tăieturi şi toate coapsele sunt acoperite cu saci.

38 O n all the housetops of Moab and in its streets there is lamentation everywhere, for I have broken Moab like a vessel in which there is no pleasure, says the Lord.

Pe toate acoperişurile Moabului şi în pieţe este doar jale, căci am sfărâmat Moabul ca pe un vas, care nu mai place nimănui, zice Domnul.

39 H ow it is broken down! How they wail! How Moab has turned his back in shame! So Moab has become a derision and a terror to all who are round about him.

Cât este de zdrobit Moabul! Cum jelesc cu toţii! Cum îşi apleacă Moab spatele plin de ruşine! Moab a devenit o pricină de râs şi de groază pentru toţi cei din jur.»“

40 F or thus says the Lord: Behold, he shall fly swiftly like an eagle and shall spread out his wings against Moab.

„Aşa vorbeşte Domnul: «Iată, un vultur se năpusteşte şi îşi întinde aripile peste Moab.

41 K erioth shall be taken and the strongholds seized; and the hearts of the mighty warriors of Moab in that day shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.

Cheriotul va fi cucerit şi fortăreţele îi vor fi capturate. În ziua aceea, inima vitejilor Moabului va fi ca inima unei femei în durerile naşterii.

42 A nd Moab shall be destroyed from being a nation, because he has magnified himself against the Lord.

Moabul va fi nimicit dintre popoare pentru că s-a semeţit împotriva Domnului.

43 T error and pit and snare are before you, O inhabitant of Moab, says the Lord.

Teroarea, groapa şi laţul te aşteaptă, locuitor al Moabului, zice Domnul.

44 H e who flees from the terror will fall into the pit, and he who gets up out of the pit will be taken and caught in the trap or snare; for I will bring upon it, even upon Moab, the year of their visitation (their inspection and infliction of punishment), says the Lord.

Cine va fugi de teroare va cădea în groapă, şi cine se va ridica din groapă va fi prins în laţ, căci Eu aduc asupra Moabului anul pedepsei lui, zice Domnul.

45 I n the shadow of Heshbon the fugitives stand powerless (stopped in their tracks, helpless and without strength), for a fire has gone forth from Heshbon, a flame from the midst of Sihon; it has destroyed the corner of Moab and the crowns of the heads of the ones in tumult.

Fugarii stau fără putere la umbra Heşbonului, căci un foc iese din Heşbon, o flacără iese din mijlocul lui Sihon, care mistuie fruntea Moabului şi capetele fiilor tumultului.

46 W oe to you, O Moab! The people of Chemosh are undone; for your sons are taken away captive and your daughters into captivity.

Vai de tine, Moabule! Poporul lui Chemoş este nimicit! Fiii tăi sunt luaţi în captivitate şi fiicele tale în exil.

47 Y et will I reverse the captivity and restore the fortunes of Moab in the latter days, says the Lord. Thus far is the judgment on Moab.

Dar în zilele de pe urmă, îi voi aduce înapoi pe captivii Moabului, zice Domnul.»“ Aici se sfârşeşte judecata asupra Moabului.
