1 A nd while they were talking to the people, the high priests and the military commander of the temple and the Sadducees came upon them,

În timp ce Petru şi Ioan vorbeau poporului, au venit la ei preoţii, comandantul gărzii Templului şi saducheii,

2 B eing vexed and indignant through and through because they were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection from the dead.

foarte supăraţi de faptul că ei dădeau învăţătură poporului şi vesteau în Isus învierea dintre cei morţi.

3 S o they laid hands on them (arrested them) and put them in prison until the following day, for it was already evening.

Au pus mâinile pe ei şi i-au aruncat în închisoare până în ziua următoare, căci era deja seară.

4 B ut many of those who heard the message believed (adhered to and trusted in and relied on Jesus as the Christ). And their number grew and came to about 5, 000.

Însă mulţi dintre cei ce auziseră cuvântarea au crezut, şi numărul bărbaţilor a ajuns la aproape cinci mii.

5 T hen on the following day, their magistrates and elders and scribes were assembled in Jerusalem,

În ziua următoare s-au adunat în Ierusalim conducătorii lor, bătrânii şi cărturarii,

6 I ncluding Annas the high priest and Caiaphas and John and Alexander and all others who belonged to the high priestly relationship.

precum şi Ana – marele preot –, Caiafa, Ioan, Alexandru şi toţi cei care erau din neamul marilor preoţi.

7 A nd they set the men in their midst and repeatedly demanded, By what sort of power or by what kind of authority did you do this ?

I-au pus pe apostoli să stea în mijloc şi i-au întrebat: – Prin ce putere sau în numele cui aţi făcut aceasta?

8 T hen Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, Rulers of the people and members of the council (the Sanhedrin),

Atunci Petru, plin de Duhul Sfânt, le-a răspuns: – Conducători şi bătrâni ai poporului,

9 I f we are being put on trial today and examined concerning a good deed done to benefit a feeble (helpless) cripple, by what means this man has been restored to health,

dacă astăzi suntem cercetaţi pentru o faptă bună făcută unui om neputincios şi pentru felul în care a fost el vindecat,

10 L et it be known and understood by all of you, and by the whole house of Israel, that in the name and through the power and authority of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, Whom you crucified, Whom God raised from the dead, in Him and by means of Him this man is standing here before you well and sound in body.

să vă fie cunoscut vouă tuturor şi întregului popor Israel că acest om stă sănătos înaintea voastră în Numele lui Isus Cristos din Nazaret, pe Care voi L-aţi răstignit, dar pe Care Dumnezeu L-a înviat dintre cei morţi!

11 T his is the Stone which was despised and rejected by you, the builders, but which has become the Head of the corner.

El este: „piatra respinsă de către voi, zidarii, care a devenit piatra din capul unghiului. “

12 A nd there is salvation in and through no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by and in which we must be saved.

În nimeni altul nu este mântuire, căci nu este sub cer nici un alt nume dat oamenilor, în care trebuie să fim mântuiţi!

13 N ow when they saw the boldness and unfettered eloquence of Peter and John and perceived that they were unlearned and untrained in the schools, they marveled; and they recognized that they had been with Jesus.

Când au văzut ei îndrăzneala lui Petru şi a lui Ioan şi când şi-au dat seama că erau oameni neînvăţaţi şi de rând, s-au mirat şi au înţeles că fuseseră cu Isus.

14 A nd since they saw the man who had been cured standing there beside them, they could not contradict the fact or say anything in opposition.

Văzându-l însă stând lângă ei pe omul care fusese vindecat, n-au avut ce să zică.

15 B ut having ordered to go aside out of the council, they conferred (debated) among themselves,

Prin urmare, le-au poruncit să iasă afară din Sinedriu şi s-au sfătuit între ei, zicând:

16 S aying, What are we to do with these men? For that an extraordinary miracle has been performed by (through) them is plain to all the residents of Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it.

„Ce să le facem oamenilor acestora? Căci este ştiut de toţi locuitorii Ierusalimului că, prin ei, s-a făcut un semn clar şi nu putem nega.

17 B ut in order that it may not spread further among the people and the nation, let us warn and forbid them with a stern threat to speak any more to anyone in this name.

În schimb, pentru ca acest lucru să nu se răspândească şi mai departe în popor, să-i ameninţăm, ca să nu mai vorbească nici unui om în Numele acesta!“

18 t hey summoned them and imperatively instructed them not to converse in any way or teach at all in or about the name of Jesus.

I-au chemat şi le-au poruncit să nu mai vorbească deloc şi să nu mai dea învăţătură în Numele lui Isus.

19 B ut Peter and John replied to them, Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you and obey you rather than God, you must decide (judge).

Însă Petru şi Ioan le-au răspuns: „Judecaţi voi înşivă dacă este drept înaintea lui Dumnezeu să ascultăm mai mult de voi decât de Dumnezeu!

20 B ut we cannot help telling what we have seen and heard.

Căci nu putem să nu vorbim despre ceea ce am văzut şi auzit!“

21 T hen when had further threatened them, they let them go, not seeing how they could secure a conviction against them because of the people; for everybody was praising and glorifying God for what had occurred.

După ce i-au ameninţat din nou, le-au dat drumul, negăsind un mod prin care să-i pedepsească, din pricina poporului, deoarece toţi Îl slăveau pe Dumnezeu pentru cele întâmplate.

22 F or the man on whom this sign (miracle) of healing was performed was more than forty years old.

Căci omul cu care se făcuse acest semn de vindecare avea mai mult de patruzeci de ani. Credincioşii se roagă pentru a primi îndrăzneală

23 A fter they were permitted to go, returned to their own and told all that the chief priests and elders had said to them.

După ce li s-a dat drumul, s-au dus la ai lor şi le-au istorisit tot ce le spuseseră conducătorii preoţilor şi bătrânii.

24 A nd when they heard it, lifted their voices together with one united mind to God and said, O Sovereign Lord, You are He Who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and everything that is in them,

Când au auzit ei aceste lucruri, şi-au ridicat glasul în acelaşi gând către Dumnezeu şi au zis: „Stăpâne peste toate, Tu, Cel Care ai făcut cerul, pământul, marea şi tot ce este în ele,

25 W ho by the mouth of our forefather David, Your servant and child, said through the Holy Spirit, Why did the heathen (Gentiles) become wanton and insolent and rage, and the people imagine and study and plan vain (fruitless) things ?

Tu ai vorbit, prin Duhul Sfânt, prin gura strămoşului nostru David, slujitorul Tău, astfel: «De ce se întărâtă neamurile şi de ce cugetă popoarele lucruri deşarte?

26 T he kings of the earth took their stand in array and the rulers were assembled and combined together against the Lord and against His Anointed (Christ, the Messiah).

Regii pământului iau poziţie şi conducătorii se strâng laolaltă, împotriva Domnului şi împotriva Unsului Său.»

27 F or in this city there actually met and plotted together against Your holy Child and Servant Jesus, Whom You consecrated by anointing, both Herod and Pontius Pilate with the Gentiles and peoples of Israel,

Căci într-adevăr, împotriva Slujitorului Tău cel sfânt, Isus, pe Care L-ai uns Tu, s-au adunat în această cetate Irod, Ponţiu Pilat, neamurile şi poporul lui Israel,

28 T o carry out all that Your hand and Your will and purpose had predestined (predetermined) should occur.

ca să facă, de fapt, tot ceea ce ai hotărât mai dinainte să se întâmple prin mâna Ta şi planul Tău.

29 A nd now, Lord, observe their threats and grant to Your bond servants to declare Your message fearlessly,

Şi acum, Doamne, uită-te la ameninţările lor şi dă-le robilor Tăi toată îndrăzneala ca să vestească Cuvântul Tău!

30 W hile You stretch out Your hand to cure and to perform signs and wonders through the authority and by the power of the name of Your holy Child and Servant Jesus.

Întinde-Ţi mâna ca să se facă vindecări, semne şi minuni prin Numele Slujitorului Tău cel sfânt, Isus!“

31 A nd when they had prayed, the place in which they were assembled was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they continued to speak the Word of God with freedom and boldness and courage.

După ce s-au rugat, locul unde erau adunaţi s-a cutremurat, şi toţi au fost umpluţi de Duhul Sfânt şi au început să vestească Cuvântul lui Dumnezeu cu îndrăzneală. Credincioşii îşi împart între ei averile

32 N ow the company of believers was of one heart and soul, and not one of them claimed that anything which he possessed was his own, but everything they had was in common and for the use of all.

Mulţimea celor ce crezuseră era una în inimă şi gând şi nici unul nu spunea că vreunul din bunurile lui este al lui, ci aveau toate în comun.

33 A nd with great strength and ability and power the apostles delivered their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace (loving-kindness and favor and goodwill) rested richly upon them all.

Apostolii depuneau mărturie cu mare putere despre învierea Domnului Isus şi un mare har era peste ei toţi.

34 N or was there a destitute or needy person among them, for as many as were owners of lands or houses proceeded to sell them, and one by one they brought (gave back) the amount received from the sales

Căci nu era nimeni printre ei în nevoie, pentru că toţi cei care aveau în proprietatea lor ogoare sau case le vindeau, iar banii obţinuţi pe lucrurile vândute îi aduceau

35 A nd laid it at the feet of the apostles (special messengers). Then distribution was made according as anyone had need.

şi-i puneau la picioarele apostolilor; apoi erau împărţiţi fiecăruia după cum avea nevoie.

36 N ow Joseph, a Levite and native of Cyprus who was surnamed Barnabas by the apostles, which interpreted means Son of Encouragement,

Iosif, numit de apostoli şi Barnabas, care tradus înseamnă „Fiul încurajării“, un levit originar din Cipru,

37 S old a field which belonged to him and brought the sum of money and laid it at the feet of the apostles.

a vândut un ogor care-i aparţinea şi apoi a adus banii şi i-a pus la picioarele apostolilor.
