1 W hen the Lord your God brings you into the land which you are entering to possess and has plucked away many nations before you, the Hittites, the Girgashites, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than you,

“ Cuando el Señor tu Dios te haya introducido en la tierra donde vas a entrar para poseerla y haya echado de delante de ti a muchas naciones: los Hititas, los Gergeseos, los Amorreos, los Cananeos, los Ferezeos, los Heveos y los Jebuseos, siete naciones más grandes y más poderosas que tú,

2 A nd when the Lord your God gives them over to you and you smite them, then you must utterly destroy them. You shall make no covenant with them, or show mercy to them.

y cuando el Señor tu Dios los haya entregado delante de ti, y los hayas derrotado, los destruirás por completo. No harás alianza con ellos ni te apiadarás de ellos.

3 Y ou shall not make marriages with them; your daughter you shall not give to his son nor shall you take his daughter for your son,

No contraerás matrimonio con ellos; no darás tus hijas a sus hijos, ni tomarás sus hijas para tus hijos.

4 F or they will turn away your sons from following Me, that they may serve other gods; so will the anger of the Lord be kindled against you and He will destroy you quickly.

Porque ellos apartarán a tus hijos de seguirme para servir a otros dioses; entonces la ira del Señor se encenderá contra ti, y El pronto te destruirá.

5 B ut thus shall you deal with them: you shall break down their altars and dash in pieces their pillars and hew down their Asherim and burn their graven images with fire.

Pero así harán ustedes con ellos: derribarán sus altares, destruirán sus pilares sagrados, y cortarán sus imágenes de Asera, y quemarán a fuego sus imágenes talladas. Un Pueblo Santo para el Señor

6 F or you are a holy and set-apart people to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a special people to Himself out of all the peoples on the face of the earth.

Porque tú eres pueblo santo para el Señor tu Dios; el Señor tu Dios te ha escogido para ser pueblo Suyo de entre todos los pueblos que están sobre la superficie de la tierra.

7 T he Lord did not set His love upon you and choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the fewest of all people.

El Señor no puso Su amor en ustedes ni los escogió por ser ustedes más numerosos que otro pueblo, pues eran el más pequeño de todos los pueblos;

8 B ut because the Lord loves you and because He would keep the oath which He had sworn to your fathers, the Lord has brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

mas porque el Señor los amó y guardó el juramento que hizo a sus padres (antepasados), el Señor los sacó con mano fuerte y los redimió de casa de servidumbre (de esclavos), de la mano de Faraón, rey de Egipto.

9 K now, recognize, and understand therefore that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God, Who keeps covenant and steadfast love and mercy with those who love Him and keep His commandments, to a thousand generations,

Reconoce, pues, que el Señor tu Dios es Dios, el Dios fiel, que guarda Su pacto y Su misericordia hasta mil generaciones con aquéllos que Lo aman y guardan Sus mandamientos;

10 A nd repays those who hate Him to their face, by destroying them; He will not be slack to him who hates Him, but will requite him to his face.

pero al que Lo odia, le da el pago en su misma cara, destruyéndolo; y no se tarda en castigar al que Lo odia, en su misma cara le dará el pago.

11 Y ou shall therefore keep and do the instruction, laws, and precepts which I command you this day.

Guarda, por tanto, el mandamiento y los estatutos y los decretos que yo te mando hoy, para cumplirlos. Bendiciones de la Obediencia

12 A nd if you hearken to these precepts and keep and do them, the Lord your God will keep with you the covenant and the steadfast love which He swore to your fathers.

“ Entonces sucederá, que porque escuchas estos decretos y los guardas y los cumples, el Señor tu Dios guardará Su pacto contigo y Su misericordia que juró a tus padres.

13 A nd He will love you, bless you, and multiply you; He will also bless the fruit of your body and the fruit of your land, your grain, your new wine, and your oil, the increase of your cattle and the young of your flock in the land which He swore to your fathers to give you.

Te amará, te bendecirá y te multiplicará; también bendecirá el fruto de tu vientre y el fruto de tu tierra, tu cereal, tu vino nuevo, tu aceite, el aumento de tu ganado y las crías de tu rebaño en la tierra que El juró a tus padres que te daría.

14 Y ou shall be blessed above all peoples; there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle.

Bendito serás más que todos los pueblos; no habrá varón ni hembra estéril en ti, ni en tu ganado.

15 A nd the Lord will take away from you all sickness, and none of the evil diseases of Egypt which you knew will He put upon you, but will lay them upon all who hate you.

Y el Señor apartará de ti toda enfermedad; y no pondrá sobre ti ninguna de las enfermedades malignas de Egipto que has conocido, sino que las pondrá sobre los que te odian.

16 A nd you shall consume all the peoples whom the Lord your God will give over to you; your eye shall not pity them, neither shall you serve their gods, for that would be a snare to you.

Destruirás a todos los pueblos que el Señor tu Dios te entregue; tu ojo no tendrá piedad de ellos; tampoco servirás a sus dioses, porque esto sería un tropiezo para ti.

17 I f you say in your hearts, These nations are greater than we are; how can we dispossess them?

“Si dijeras en tu corazón: ‘Estas naciones son más poderosas que yo, ¿cómo podré desposeerlas ?’

18 Y ou shall not be afraid of them, but remember what the Lord your God did to Pharaoh and to all Egypt,

No tengas temor de ellas; recuerda bien lo que el Señor tu Dios hizo a Faraón y a todo Egipto:

19 T he great trials which your eyes saw, the signs, the wonders, the mighty hand and the outstretched arm by which the Lord your God brought you out. So shall the Lord your God do to all the people of whom you are afraid.

las grandes pruebas que tus ojos vieron, las señales y maravillas, y la mano poderosa y el brazo extendido con el cual el Señor tu Dios te sacó. Así el Señor tu Dios hará con todos los pueblos a los cuales temes.

20 M oreover, the Lord your God will send the hornet among them until those who are left and hide themselves from you are destroyed.

Además, el Señor tu Dios enviará la avispa contra ellos, hasta que perezcan los que queden y se escondan de ti.

21 Y ou shall not dread them, for the Lord your God is among you, a mighty and terrible God.

No te espantes de ellos, porque en medio de ti está el Señor tu Dios, Dios grande y temible.

22 A nd the Lord your God will clear out those nations before you, little by little; you may not consume them quickly, lest the beasts of the field increase among you.

El Señor tu Dios echará estas naciones de delante de ti poco a poco; no podrás acabar con ellas rápidamente, no sea que las fieras del campo lleguen a ser demasiado numerosas para ti.

23 B ut the Lord your God will give them over to you and will confuse them with a mighty panic until they are destroyed.

Pero el Señor tu Dios las entregará delante de ti, y producirá entre ellas gran confusión hasta que perezcan.

24 A nd He will give their kings into your hand, and you shall make their name perish from under the heavens; there shall no man be able to stand before you, until you have destroyed them.

Entregará en tus manos a sus reyes de modo que harás perecer sus nombres de debajo del cielo; ningún hombre podrá hacerte frente, hasta que tú los hayas destruido a todos.

25 T he graven images of their gods you shall burn with fire. You shall not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it for yourselves, lest you be ensnared by it, for it is an abomination to the Lord your God.

Quemarás a fuego las esculturas de sus dioses; no codiciarás la plata ni el oro que las recubren, ni lo tomarás para ti, no sea que por ello caigas en un lazo, porque es abominación al Señor tu Dios.

26 N either shall you bring an abomination (an idol) into your house, lest you become an accursed thing like it; but you shall utterly detest and abhor it, for it is an accursed thing.

No traerás cosa abominable a tu casa, pues serás anatema (destruido) como ella; ciertamente la aborrecerás y la abominarás, pues es anatema.
