2 W ho were chosen and foreknown by God the Father and consecrated (sanctified, made holy) by the Spirit to be obedient to Jesus Christ (the Messiah) and to be sprinkled with blood: May grace (spiritual blessing) and peace be given you in increasing abundance '> realized in and through Christ, freedom from fears, agitating passions, and moral conflicts].

según el previo conocimiento de Dios Padre, por la obra santificadora del Espíritu, para obedecer a Jesucristo y ser rociados con Su sangre: Que la gracia y la paz les sean multiplicadas a ustedes. La Esperanza Viva del Cristiano

3 P raised (honored, blessed) be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah)! By His boundless mercy we have been born again to an ever-living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

Bendito sea el Dios y Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, quien según Su gran misericordia, nos ha hecho nacer de nuevo a una esperanza viva, mediante la resurrección de Jesucristo de entre los muertos,

4 i nto an inheritance which is beyond the reach of change and decay, unsullied and unfading, reserved in heaven for you,

para obtener una herencia incorruptible, inmaculada, y que no se marchitará, reservada en los cielos para ustedes.

5 W ho are being guarded (garrisoned) by God’s power through faith '> final] salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.

Mediante la fe ustedes son protegidos (guardados) por el poder de Dios, para la salvación que está preparada para ser revelada en el último tiempo.

6 b e exceedingly glad on this account, though now for a little while you may be distressed by trials and suffer temptations,

En lo cual ustedes se regocijan grandemente, aunque ahora, por un poco de tiempo si es necesario, sean afligidos con diversas pruebas (tentaciones),

7 S o that of your faith may be tested, which is infinitely more precious than the perishable gold which is tested and purified by fire. to redound to praise and glory and honor when Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) is revealed.

para que la prueba de la fe de ustedes, más preciosa que el oro que perece, aunque probado por fuego, sea hallada que resulta en alabanza, gloria y honor en la revelación de Jesucristo;

8 W ithout having seen Him, you love Him; though you do not now see Him, you believe in Him and exult and thrill with inexpressible and glorious (triumphant, heavenly) joy.

a quien sin haber visto, ustedes Lo aman, y a quien ahora no ven, pero creen en El, y se regocijan grandemente con gozo inefable y lleno de gloria,

9 y ou receive the result (outcome, consummation) of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

obteniendo, como resultado de su fe, la salvación de sus almas.

10 T he prophets, who prophesied of the grace (divine blessing) which was intended for you, searched and inquired earnestly about this salvation.

Acerca de esta salvación, los profetas que profetizaron de la gracia que vendría a ustedes, diligentemente inquirieron y averiguaron,

11 T hey sought to whom or when this was to come which the Spirit of Christ working within them was indicating when He predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories that should follow.

procurando saber qué persona o tiempo indicaba el Espíritu de Cristo dentro de ellos, al predecir los sufrimientos de Cristo y las glorias que seguirían.

12 I t was then disclosed to them that the services they were rendering were not meant for themselves and their period of time, but for you. things which have now already been made known plainly to you by those who preached the good news (the Gospel) to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Into these things angels long to look!

A ellos les fue revelado que no se servían a sí mismos, sino a ustedes, en estas cosas que ahora les han sido anunciadas mediante los que les predicaron el evangelio (les anunciaron las buenas nuevas) por el Espíritu Santo enviado del cielo; cosas a las cuales los ángeles anhelan mirar. Exhortación a la Santidad

13 S o brace up your minds; be sober (circumspect, morally alert); set your hope wholly and unchangeably on the grace (divine favor) that is coming to you when Jesus Christ (the Messiah) is revealed.

Por tanto, preparen su entendimiento para la acción. Sean sobrios en espíritu, pongan su esperanza completamente en la gracia que se les traerá en la revelación (la manifestación) de Jesucristo.

14 a s children of obedience; do not conform yourselves to the evil desires in your former ignorance.

Como hijos obedientes, no se conformen a los deseos que antes tenían en su ignorancia,

15 B ut as the One Who called you is holy, you yourselves also be holy in all your conduct and manner of living.

sino que así como Aquél que los llamó es Santo, así también sean ustedes santos en toda su manera de vivir.

16 F or it is written, You shall be holy, for I am holy.

Porque escrito está: “ Sean santos, porque Yo soy santo.”

17 A nd if you call upon Him as Father Who judges each one impartially according to what he does, you should conduct yourselves with true reverence throughout the time of your temporary residence.

Y si invocan como Padre a Aquél que imparcialmente juzga según la obra de cada uno, condúzcanse con temor (reverencia) durante el tiempo de su peregrinación.

18 Y ou must know (recognize) that you were redeemed (ransomed) from the useless (fruitless) way of living inherited by tradition from forefathers, not with corruptible things silver and gold,

Ustedes saben que no fueron redimidos (rescatados) de su vana manera de vivir heredada de sus padres con cosas perecederas como oro o plata,

19 B ut with the precious blood of Christ (the Messiah), like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.

sino con sangre preciosa, como de un cordero sin tacha y sin mancha: la sangre de Cristo.

20 I t is true that He was chosen and foreordained (destined and foreknown for it) before the foundation of the world, but He was brought out to public view (made manifest) in these last days (at the end of the times) for the sake of you.

Porque El estaba preparado desde antes de la fundación del mundo, pero se ha manifestado en estos últimos (en el fin de los) tiempos por amor a ustedes.

21 T hrough Him you believe in (adhere to, rely on) God, Who raised Him up from the dead and gave Him honor and glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.

Por medio de El son creyentes en Dios, que Lo resucitó de entre los muertos y Le dio gloria, de manera que la fe y esperanza de ustedes sean en Dios. Exhortación al Amor Fraternal

22 S ince by your obedience to the Truth through the Spirit you have purified your hearts for the sincere affection of the brethren, love one another fervently from a pure heart.

Puesto que en obediencia a la verdad ustedes han purificado sus almas para un amor sincero de hermanos, ámense unos a otros entrañablemente, de corazón puro.

23 Y ou have been regenerated (born again), not from a mortal origin ( seed, sperm), but from one that is immortal by the ever living and lasting Word of God.

Pues han nacido de nuevo, no de una simiente corruptible, sino de una que es incorruptible, es decir, mediante la palabra de Dios que vive y permanece.

24 F or all flesh (mankind) is like grass, and all its glory (honor) like flower of grass. The grass withers and the flower drops off,

Porque: “ Toda carne es como la hierba, y toda su gloria como la flor de la hierba. Secase la hierba, caese la flor,

25 B ut the Word of the Lord ( divine instruction, the Gospel) endures forever. And this Word is the good news which was preached to you.

pero la palabra del Señor permanece para siempre.” Esa es la palabra que a ustedes les fue predicada (anunciada como buenas nuevas).
