1 W oe to those who go down to Egypt for help, who rely on horses and trust in chariots because they are many and in horsemen because they are very strong, but they look not to the Holy One of Israel, nor seek and consult the Lord!

Khốn thay cho những kẻ xuống Ê-díp-tô đặng cầu cứu, nhờ những ngựa, cậy những xe binh vì nó nhiều, và những lính kỵ vì nó mạnh, mà không ngó về Đấng Thánh của Y-sơ-ra-ên, và chẳng tìm cầu Đức Giê-hô-va!

2 A nd yet He is wise and brings calamity and does not retract His words; He will arise against the house (the whole race) of evildoers and against the helpers of those who work iniquity.

Nhưng mà, Ngài cũng là khôn sáng! Aáy chính Ngài là Đấng giáng tai vạ, chẳng hề ăn lời mình. Ngài sẽ dấy lên nghịch cùng nhà kẻ dữ, và nghịch cùng kẻ giúp bọn gian ác.

3 N ow the Egyptians are men and not God, and their horses are flesh and not spirit; and when the Lord stretches out His hand, both who helps will stumble, and who is helped will fall, and they will all perish and be consumed together.

Vả, người Ê-díp-tô là loài người, không phải là Đức Chúa Trời; những ngựa nó chỉ là xác thịt, không phải là thần. Khi Đức Giê-hô-va sẽ giang tay ra, tức thì kẻ giúp sẽ vấp, kẻ được giúp sẽ ngã, cả hai đều diệt mất.

4 F or the Lord has said to me, As the lion or the young lion growls over his prey—and though a large band of shepherds is called out against him, he will not be terrified at their voice or daunted at their noise—so the Lord of hosts will come down to fight upon Mount Zion and upon its hills.

Vì Đức Giê-hô-va đã phán cùng ta như vầy: Như sư tử hoặc sư tử con bắt được mồi và gầm thét, mặc dầu bọn chăn chiên nhóm lại thành đoàn, nó cũng chẳng thấy kêu mà rùng, thấy động mà sợ; đồng một thể ấy, Đức Giê-hô-va vạn quân sẽ xuống đặng đánh trận trên núi Si-ôn và trên đồi nó.

5 L ike birds hovering, so will the Lord of hosts defend Jerusalem; He will protect and deliver it, He will pass over and spare and preserve it.

Như chim bay liệng thể nào, đồng một thể ấy, Đức Giê-hô-va vạn quân sẽ che chở và cứu vớt cho, sẽ vuợt qua và gìn giữ cho.

6 R eturn, O children of Israel, to Him against Whom you have so deeply plunged into revolt.

Hỡi con cái Y-sơ-ra-ên, vậy hãy trở lại cùng Đấng mà các ngươi đã dấy loạn nghịch cùng,

7 F or in that day every man of you will cast away his idols of silver and his idols of gold, which your own hands have sinfully made for you.

vì trong ngày đó, ai nấy sẽ bỏ thần tượng mình bằng bạc bằng vàng, là đồ các ngươi đã dùng chính tay mình làm mà phạm tội.

8 T hen the Assyrian shall fall by a sword not of man; and a sword, not of men, shall devour him. And he shall flee from the sword, and his young men shall be subjected to forced labor.

A-si-ri sẽ ngã dưới gươm, chẳng phải gươm của loài người; và cái gươm mà chẳng phải là gươm của người ta sẽ nuốt nó. Nó sẽ trốn khỏi gươm đó, và những kẻ trai trẻ nó sẽ phải chịu khổ dịch.

9 h e shall pass beyond his rock because of terror; even his officers shall desert the standard in fear and panic, says the Lord, Whose fire is in Zion and Whose furnace is in Jerusalem.

Vầng đá nó sẽ qua đi vì sự kinh hãi, các quan trưởng nó sẽ kính sợ vì cờ xí, Đức Giê-hô-va phán như vậy, tức là Đấng có lửa tại Si-ôn, có lò tại Giê-ru-sa-lem.
