1 A nd Moses said to the heads or leaders of the tribes of Israel, This is the thing which the Lord has commanded:

Depois disse Moisés aos cabeças das tribos dos filhos de Israel: Isto é o que o Senhor ordenou:

2 I f a man vows a vow to the Lord or swears an oath to bind himself by a pledge, he shall not break and profane his word; he shall do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth.

Quando um homem fizer voto ao Senhor, ou jurar, ligando-se com obrigação, não violará a sua palavra; segundo tudo o que sair da sua boca fará.

3 A lso when a woman vows a vow to the Lord and binds herself by a pledge, being in her father’s house in her youth,

Também quando uma mulher, na sua mocidade, estando ainda na casa de seu pai, fizer voto ao Senhor, e com obrigação se ligar,

4 A nd her father hears her vow and her pledge with which she has bound herself and he offers no objection, then all her vows shall stand and every pledge with which she has bound herself shall stand.

e seu pai souber do seu voto e da obrigação com que se ligou, e se calar para com ela, então todos os seus votos serão válidos, e toda a obrigação com que se ligou será válida.

5 B ut if her father refuses to allow her on the day that he hears about it, not any of her vows or of her pledges with which she has bound herself shall stand. And the Lord will forgive her because her father refused to let her.

Mas se seu pai lho vedar no dia em que o souber, todos os seus votos e as suas obrigações, com que se tiver ligado, deixarão de ser válidos; e o Senhor lhe perdoará, porquanto seu pai lhos vedou.

6 A nd if she is married to a husband while her vows are upon her or she has bound herself by a rash utterance

Se ela se casar enquanto ainda estiverem sobre ela os seus votos ou o dito irrefletido dos seus lábios, com que se tiver obrigado,

7 A nd her husband hears of it and holds his peace concerning it on the day that he hears it, then her vows shall stand and her pledge with which she bound herself shall stand.

e seu marido o souber e se calar para com ela no dia em que o souber, os votos dela serão válidos; e as obrigações com que se ligou serão válidas.

8 B ut if her husband refuses to allow her on the day that he hears of it, then he shall make void and annul her vow which is upon her and the rash utterance of her lips by which she bound herself, and the Lord will forgive her.

Mas se seu marido lho vedar no dia em que o souber, anulará o voto que estiver sobre ela, como também o dito irrefletido dos seus lábios, com que se tiver obrigado; e o senhor lhe perdoará.

9 B ut the vow of a widow or of a divorced woman, with which she has bound herself, shall stand against her.

No tocante ao voto de uma viúva ou de uma repudiada, tudo com que se obrigar ser-lhe-á válido.

10 A nd if she vowed in her husband’s house or bound herself by a pledge with an oath

Se ela, porém, fez voto na casa de seu marido, ou se obrigou com juramento,

11 A nd her husband heard it and did not oppose or prohibit her, then all her vows and every pledge with which she bound herself shall stand.

e seu marido o soube e se calou para com ela, não lho vedando, todos os seus votos serão válidos; e toda a obrigação com que se ligou será válida.

12 B ut if her husband positively made them void on the day he heard them, then whatever proceeded out of her lips concerning her vows or concerning her pledge of herself shall not stand. Her husband has annulled them, and the Lord will forgive her.

Se, porém, seu marido de todo lhos anulou no dia em que os soube, deixará de ser válido tudo quanto saiu dos lábios dela, quer no tocante aos seus votos, quer no tocante

13 E very vow and every binding oath to humble or afflict herself, her husband may establish it or her husband may annul it.

Todo voto, e todo juramento de obrigação, que ela tiver feito para afligir a alma, seu marido pode confirmá-lo, ou pode anulá-lo.

14 B ut if her husband altogether holds his peace with her from day to day, then he establishes and confirms all her vows or all her pledges which are upon her. He establishes them because he said nothing to her on the day he heard of them.

Se, porém, seu marido, de dia em dia, se calar inteiramente para com ela, confirma todos os votos e todas as obrigações que estiverem sobre ela; ele lhos confirmou, porquanto se calou para com ela no dia em que os soube.

15 B ut if he shall nullify them after he hears of them, then he shall be responsible for and bear her iniquity.

Mas se de todo lhos anular depois de os ter sabido, ele levará sobre si a iniqüidade dela.

16 T hese are the statutes which the Lord commanded Moses, between a man and his wife, and between a father and his daughter while in her youth in her father’s house.

Esses são os estatutos que o Senhor ordenou a Moisés, entre o marido e sua mulher, entre o pai e sua filha, na sua mocidade, em casa de seu pai.
