Então Jó respondeu:

2 H ow you have helped him who is without power! How you have sustained the arm that is without strength!

Como tens ajudado ao que não tem força e sustentado o braço que não tem vigor!

3 H ow you have counseled him who has no wisdom! And how plentifully you have declared to him sound knowledge!

como tens aconselhado ao que não tem sabedoria, e plenamente tens revelado o verdadeiro conhecimento!

4 W ith whose assistance have you uttered these words? And whose spirit came forth from you?

Para quem proferiste palavras? E de quem é o espírito que saiu de ti?

5 T he shades of the dead tremble underneath the waters and their inhabitants.

Os mortos tremem debaixo das águas, com os que ali habitam.

6 S heol (the place of the dead) is naked before God, and Abaddon (the place of destruction) has no covering.

O Seol está nu perante Deus, e não há coberta para o Abadom.

7 H e it is Who spreads out the northern skies over emptiness and hangs the earth upon or over nothing.

Ele estende o norte sobre o vazio; suspende a terra sobre o nada.

8 H e holds the waters bound in His clouds, and the cloud is not rent under them.

Prende as águas em suas densas nuvens, e a nuvem não se rasga debaixo delas.

9 H e covers the face of His throne and spreads over it His cloud.

Encobre a face do seu trono, e sobre ele estende a sua nuvem.

10 H e has placed an enclosing limit upon the waters at the boundary between light and darkness.

Marcou um limite circular sobre a superfície das águas, onde a luz e as trevas se confinam.

11 T he pillars of the heavens tremble and are astonished at His rebuke.

As colunas do céu tremem, e se espantam da sua ameaça.

12 H e stills or stirs up the sea by His power, and by His understanding He smites proud Rahab.

Com o seu poder fez sossegar o mar, e com o seu entendimento abateu a Raabe.

13 B y His breath the heavens are garnished; His hand pierced the fleeing serpent.

Pelo seu sopro ornou o céu; a sua mão traspassou a serpente veloz.

14 Y et these are but the outskirts of His ways or the mere fringes of His force, the faintest whisper of His voice! Who dares contemplate or who can understand the thunders of His full, magnificent power?

Eis que essas coisas são apenas as orlas dos seus caminhos; e quão pequeno é o sussurro que dele, ouvimos! Mas o trovão do seu poder, quem o poderá entender?
