1 O give thanks unto the Lord, call upon His name, make known His doings among the peoples!

اشكُرُوا اللهَ ، بِاسْمِهِ ادعُوا! خَبِّرُوا الشُّعُوبَ بِما صَنَعَ.

2 S ing to Him, sing praises to Him; meditate on and talk of all His marvelous deeds and devoutly praise them.

غَنُّوا لَهُ. رَنِّمُوا لَهُ. وَفِي رَوائِعِهِ تَأمَّلُوا.

3 G lory in His holy name; let the hearts of those rejoice who seek and require the Lord.

تَباهَوْا بِاسْمِهِ القُدُّوسِ. وَلْيَفرَحِ الَّذِينَ يَطلُبُونَ اللهَ.

4 S eek, inquire of and for the Lord, and crave Him and His strength (His might and inflexibility to temptation); seek and require His face and His presence evermore.

اطلُبُوا اللهَ وَقُوَّتَهُ. إلَيهِ الجَأُوا دائِماً.

5 r emember the marvelous deeds that He has done, His miracles and wonders, the judgments and sentences which He pronounced.

تَذَكَّرُوا الأُمُورَ العَظِيمَةَ الَّتِي أجراها، وَعَجائِبَهُ وَأحْكامَهُ الَّتِي نَطَقَ بِها.

6 O you offspring of Abraham His servant, you children of Jacob, His chosen ones,

يا أبناءَ خادِمِهِ إبراهِيمَ، يا أبناءَ مُختارِهِ يَعقُوبَ.

7 H e is the Lord our God; His judgments are in all the earth.

يهوه هُوَ إلَهُنا، وَأحكامُهُ عَلَى كُلِّ الأرْضِ.

8 H e is mindful of His covenant and forever it is imprinted on His heart, the word which He commanded and established to a thousand generations,

إلَى الأبَدِ سَيَذكُرُ عَهدَهُ، الوَصايا الَّتِي أمَرَ بِها هِيَ لألْفِ جِيلٍ.

9 T he covenant which He made with Abraham, and His sworn promise to Isaac,

هَذا هُوَ عَهدُهُ مَعَ إبراهِيمَ، وَوَعْدُهُ لإسْحَاقَ.

10 W hich He confirmed to Jacob as a statute, to Israel as an everlasting covenant,

قَدَّمَهُ شَرِيعَةً لِيَعقُوبَ، لإسرائِيلَ عَهداً أبَدِيّاً.

11 S aying, Unto you will I give the land of Canaan as your measured portion, possession, and inheritance.

قالَ: «أُعطِيكَ أرْضَ كَنْعانَ لِتَكُونَ نَصِيبَكَ مِنَ الأملاكِ.»

12 W hen they were but a few men in number, in fact, very few, and were temporary residents and strangers in it,

فَعَلَ هَذا حِينَ كانُوا قِلَّةً وَغُرَباءَ فِي الأرْضِ.

13 W hen they went from one nation to another, from one kingdom to another people,

جالَ هَؤُلاءِ الآباءُ مِنْ شَعبٍ إلَى شَعبٍ، وَمِنْ مَملَكَةٍ إلَى أُخْرَى.

14 H e allowed no man to do them wrong; in fact, He reproved kings for their sakes,

لَمْ يَسمَحْ لأحَدٍ بِأنْ يُسِيئَ مُعامَلَتَهُمْ، بَلْ حَذَّرَ المُلُوكَ وَقالَ:

15 S aying, Touch not My anointed, and do My prophets no harm.

«لا تَمَسُّوا مُختارِيَّ! لا تُؤذُوا أنبِيائِي.»

16 M oreover, He called for a famine upon the land; He cut off every source of bread.

جَلَبَ اللهُ عَلَى الأرْضِ مَجاعَةً، فَلَمْ يَعُدْ هُناكَ ما يَكْفِي مِنَ الخُبْزِ!

17 H e sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold as a servant.

أرسَلَ رَجُلاً إلَى مِصرَ قَبلَ عائِلَةِ إسرائِيلَ، يُوسُفَ الَّذِي بِيعَ عَبداً.

18 H is feet they hurt with fetters; he was laid in chains of iron and his soul entered into the iron,

آذُوا بِالسَّلاسِلِ قَدَمَيهِ، وَبِطَوقٍ حَدِيدِيٍّ طَوَّقُوا رَقَبَتَهُ.

19 U ntil his word came true, until the word of the Lord tried and tested him.

حَتَّى تَحَقَّقَ كَلامُهُ، وَكَلِمَةُ اللهِ بَرهَنَتْ عَلَى صِدقِهِ.

20 T he king sent and loosed him, even the ruler of the peoples, and let him go free.

أرسَلَ المَلِكُ فِي طَلَبِهِ وَكافَأهُ. وَحاكِمُ الشَّعبِ حَرَّرَهُ مِنَ السِّجنِ.

21 H e made Joseph lord of his house and ruler of all his substance,

عَيَّنَهُ سَيِّداً عَلَى البَيتِ، مَسؤُولاً عَنْ كُلِّ أملاكِهِ.

22 T o bind his princes at his pleasure and teach his elders wisdom.

أعطَى يُوسُفُ تَعلِيماتٍ لِلْقادَةِ، وَدَرَّبَ قادَةً أكبَرَ مِنهُ.

23 I srael also came into Egypt; and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.

ثُمَّ دَخَلَ إسرائِيلُ مِصرَ. عاشَ يَعقُوبُ غَرِيباً فِي أرْضِ حامَ.

24 T here greatly increased His people and made them stronger than their oppressors.

كَثَّرَ اللهُ شَعبَهُ كَثِيراً، فَصارُوا أعظَمَ وَأقوَى مِنْ أعدائِهِمْ.

25 H e turned the hearts to hate His people, to deal craftily with His servants.

عِندَئِذٍ تَغَيَّرَتْ نَظرَةُ المِصرِيِّينَ إلَيْهِمْ، فَبَدَأُوا يُبغِضُونَهُمْ وَيَتَآمَرُونَ عَلَى عَبِيدِهِمْ.

26 H e sent Moses His servant, and Aaron, whom He had chosen.

فَأرسَلَ اللهُ عَبدَهُ مُوسَى، وَهارُونَ الَّذِي اختارَهُ.

27 T hey showed His signs among them, wonders and miracles in the land of Ham (Egypt).

أظهَرُوا بَراهِينَهُ وَسَطَ شَعبِ مِصرَ، وَمُعجِزاتِهِ فِي أرْضِ حامَ.

28 H e sent darkness and made the land dark, and they rebelled not against His word.

أرسَلَ ظَلاماً شَديداً، وَلَمْ يُصغِ المِصْرِيونَ إلَيهِ.

29 H e turned waters into blood and caused their fish to die.

حَوَّلَ ماءَهُمْ دَماً، وَقَتَلَ سَمَكَهُمْ.

30 T heir land brought forth frogs in abundance, even in the chambers of their kings.

مَلأ بَلَدَهُمْ بِالضَّفادِعِ، حَتَّى فِي قَصرِ المَلِكِ.

31 H e spoke, and there came swarms of beetles and flies and mosquitoes and lice in all their borders.

أصدَرَ أمرَهُ، فَغَزَتْ مِصْرَ أسرابُ الذُّبابِ وَالبَعُوضِ.

32 H e gave them hail for rain, with lightning like flaming fire in their land.

حَوَّلَ مَطَرَهُمْ بَرَداً وَأرسَلَ بَرْقاً ضَرَبَ أرضَهُمْ

33 H e smote their vines also and their fig trees and broke the trees of their borders.

فَدَمَّرَ كُرُومَهُمْ وَتِينَهُمْ وَكَسَّرَ أشجاراً فِي كُلِّ بِلادِهِمْ.

34 H e spoke, and the locusts came, and the grasshoppers, and that without number,

أمَرَ، فَجاءَ الجَرادُ وَالجَنادِبُ بِلا عَدَدٍ.

35 A nd ate up all the vegetation in their land and devoured the fruit of their ground.

أكَلَ كُلَّ نَباتٍ أخضَرَ فِي الحُقُولِ، وَكُلَّ محاصِيلِ الأرْضِ.

36 H e smote also all the firstborn in their land, the beginning and chief substance of all their strength.

ثُمَّ ضَرَبَ كُلَّ ابنٍ بِكرٍ فِي كُلِّ عائِلَةٍ، الَّذينَ هُمْ بُرهانُ قُوَّةِ آبائِهِمْ.

37 H e brought forth also with silver and gold, and there was not one feeble person among their tribes.

أخرَجَهُمْ حامِلِينَ ذَهَباً وَفِضَّةً، وَلَمْ يَتَعَثَّرْ أحَدٌ مِنْ كُلِّ عَشائِرِ بَنِي إسرائِيلَ.

38 E gypt was glad when they departed, for the fear of them had fallen upon the people.

فَرِحَ المِصْرِيُّونَ بِرَحيلِهِمْ، لأنَّهُمُ ارْتَعَبُوا مِنهُمْ.

39 T he Lord spread a cloud for a covering, and a fire to give light in the night.

كَغِطاءٍ بَسَطَ اللهُ سَحابَتَهُ فَوقَهُمْ، وَأعطاهُمْ عَمُودَ نارٍ لِيُضِيءَ اللَّيلَ.

40 a sked, and He brought quails and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.

طَلَبُوا مِنَ اللهِ، فَأنزَلَ السَّلوَى عَلَيهِمْ. وَمِنَ الخُبزِ السَّماوِيِّ أشبَعَهُمْ.

41 H e opened the rock, and water gushed out; it ran in the dry places like a river.

شَقَّ اللهُ الصَّخرَةَ، فَاندَفَعَ الماءُ عَلَى الأرْضِ الجافَّةِ كَنَهرٍ.

42 F or He remembered His holy word and promise to Abraham His servant.

لأنَّهُ تَذَكَّرَ عَهْدَهُ المُقَدَّسَ لِخادِمِهِ إبراهِيمَ،

43 A nd He brought forth His people with joy, and His chosen ones with gladness and singing,

وَأخرَجَ شَعبَهُ المُختارَ مِنْ مِصرَ فَرِحِينَ مُتَهَلِّلِينَ.

44 A nd gave them the lands of the nations, and they reaped the fruits of those peoples’ labor,

ثُمَّ أعطاهُمُ أرْضَ شُعُوبٍ أُخْرَى، وَوَرَثُوا ثَمَرَ تَعَبِ الغُرَباءِ.

45 T hat they might observe His statutes and keep His laws. Praise the Lord! (Hallelujah!)

لِكَي يُطِيعُوا شَرائِعَهُ، وَيَحفَظُوا تَعالِيمَهُ. سَبِّحُوا اللهَ.
